Eschaton is Ancient Methods & Orphx. For this project they use their combined hard-edged industrial palette to produce a frighteningly convincing apocalyptic prophecy. As the second product of this collaboration, Eschaton II has taken a more varied, yet ever menacing turn, moving between the raw and punky energy of "Answer My Prayer", and the droney shamanic mysticism (reminiscent of some early Ancient Methods releases) of "No Other Gods Before Me". "Those Who Obey" strikes relentlessly like an archaic battle anthem, while the slow build of "Deus Irae" gradually progresses to the climactic thrashing promised in the preceding tracks.

Those who are familiar with their techno will know that the genre doesn't get much more intense than it does on the music of Orphx and Ancient Methods. The former are Canadian duo Richard Oddie and Christie Sealey, whose 20 odd years of experience has seen them release an extensive catalog of albums, cassettes and EPs. Formerly a two-piece act, Ancient Methods is now the current solo concern of a Berlin-based artist who has worked alongside Adam X, Kareem, and Regis, and whose music is similarly relentless in tone. The three artists unite under the name Eschaton for a self-titled four-track EP on Token.
