Bell ringer by day, DJ by night, Philipp Gorbachev returns to his own PG Tune label for his fascinating third LP, Kolokol ("The Bell"). A singular blend of cutting-edge techno and industrial with the distinctive sound of Orthodox church bells, Philipp Gorbachev's unique vision, also extended to an accompanying experimental documentary and a radical live show, documents the life and spirit altering experience of becoming a bell ringer himself in the time since his last full-length, 2016's uncompromising Unlock The Box (PGTUNE 001LP, 2016). Now, on Kolokol, Gorbachev utilizes his masterful use of electronic music textures and his multi-instrumental to adapt and subvert some of the most inspiring sounds that have ever rung out. Originally conceived as an Eastern "gospel" inspired album in the vein of Robert Hood's pulpit trips as Floorplan, the resulting record is an earthier, more brooding journey, arguably echoing the soothing and powerful tones of the bells themselves, which match the Earth's frequency of 8hz, rather than classic and increasingly digital club sounds. Those anticipating claps, snare rolls, hi-hats, and melodies may find themselves surprised and moved in unexpected ways; in the sonic church of Gorbachev's creation, the ever-unpredictable Gorbachev mines tension, ecstasy, and catharsis in the sound of more than 40 belfries, played live by hand, sampled and then sequenced with compelling and inspiring results. In an accompanying and beguiling short film, we glimpse Philipp Gorbachev at the mercy of both the bell and a higher power at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Berlin, and wandering across the vast, snow-dusted plains of his native Russia. Abstract and provocative visual sequences combine the experimental, industrial sound design of the record with distinctive imagery from Christian Orthodox heritage, to subtle and even quietly psychedelic effect. Completing Philipp Gorbachev's holistic vision for the project is a new live show, already premiered at Moscow's legendary Mutabor club. An ambitious and highly personal statement, Kolokol is an independent and necessary call for new bridges between spirituality and rave culture, demonstrating how an unexpected blend of technology and faith can transform ancient dogmas into communicative code that can heal anger and separation in the modern age.

Philipp Gorbachev's sophomore solo album continues the narrative of his previous releases on Cómeme, and serves as the inaugural LP on his own PG TUNE imprint. From imaginary places like The Delta, down to the dirty District, and with reverence for the heritage of the Russian avant-garde, Unlock The Box pictures a static and demodulated dance floor. Welcome to the 5th New Century. Finding ourselves in a confusing time, the essential urge and necessity to communicate love becomes as exhausting as hunting for diesel in Mad Max. The remains of global capitalism's overkill and marginal religious fanatics merge together as the ultimate threat to the human experience and can remind us that things can so easily spin out of control. We are also reminded of our elemental humanity; the need for love and dedication to each other, which can be so easy to forget when we lock our own boxes. Unlock The Box embodies the sound of a passionate young human being forced to create new tools to secure human existence in the future. In the 5th New Century, only one rule counts: love is limitless. With the recording process involving a wide range of digital and analog instruments, Gorbachev approached the album with his signature hybrid production. Similarly, his lyrics travel between both English and Russian, continuing the innovative linguistic style from the Silver Album (COMEME 005CD/LP). Early versions of these tracks have been field tested during a Russian tour, and take inspiration from the morning dance floor vibes and feelings. These experiences helped shape the concept of #DAYTIMERAVING: not a time of day, but an attitude. That light which shines independently from day or night, on a dancefloor and outside of it. Love is the message. Mixed by Phil Moffa at Butcha Sound NYC. Mastered by Mike Grinser at Manmade Mastering Berlin. Features Polina and Interchain. Comes in a trademark PG TUNE sleeve with art direction by Pablo Zuleta Zahr and СКОБЫЧ. Includes download code.

"The Weeping Tune" was originally released in September 2015 on PG Tune and premiered in Arma17, Moscow. Barnt - artist, friend, DJ and one of the minds behind Magazine label - created his own version of "The Weeping Tune" to fit into his DJ sets, one of the first times being at Amnesia, Ibiza. These energies naturally formed this release which opens the vinyl catalogue on PG Tune: a must have record packed into a PG Tune trademark sleeve, created with a thermal camera during Tiga's first ever live show at Berlin Festival. Limited to 500 copies worldwide. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

Russian dance avant-gardist Philipp Gorbachev is in self-imposed exile -- from Moscow to Berlin -- due to his political views, and for the purpose of joining Cómeme in 2011. This collective of musicians and artists, operating between Latin America and Europe, is known for a killer instinct in producing forward-thinking dance music beyond any standards of the contemporary music industry. Focusing on serving dance music audiences all around the globe, Philipp Gorbachev composes, produces and performs music in a way that resembles the heritage axe of Russian avant-garde and Moscow's Conceptualist movement, rather than following any current dance music tradition. Based on a unique performing and recording technique -- created and tested together with his buddy Matias Aguayo in The District Union studio in Berlin -- Silver Album is a well-collected music piece consisting of nine live performed arrangements, crafted with insurgent Russian lyrics that are fable-like inventions, fairy tales that deal with spiritual vibes, using the sound of the Russian language in order to form a new alternative music. Musicians like ex-Helmet-and-now-Battles drummer John Stanier, as well as co-producers and mixing engineers like Butthole Surfers guitarist Paul Leary; Mexican Cómeme brother Daniel Maloso; or Non Standard Productions head-honcho and Ostgut Ton artist Tobias Freund, have been welcomed by Philipp Gorbachev to take part in the production of the record. The first single of the album, called "Arrest Me," is a dedication to the imprisoned people around the world, a journey-starter towards freedom of spirit, pioneering in never-before-expressed sounds, timing and space control. If you need an easier punchline: it simply is "The First Russian Dance Album."

Philipp Gorbachev definitely is leaving the Delta on this EP to reappear deep down in the District, where he turns all the trash and street sound, the screeching of car-tires, the real lifetime situations into real lifetime techno music that is more rock 'n' roll than any guitar nowadays could be. This is the sound of the angry young man in the digital age. Recorded with Matias Aguayo, Daniel Maloso, Felipe Gutierrez, Alejandro Paz, Ana Helder and Julia "Yula" Kasprzak.

The Delta is a symbolic and poetic place -- where the flow of the river enters the ocean. The Delta gives the feeling of rhythm. The Delta is the supreme destination. The Delta refers to hanging out in the city streets. Essential in The Delta is the spirit of conscious spontaneity, collaborations with artists, jam sessions, highs and lows, night-time, stories and other basic habits from the primordial age of music. Recorded in Moscow, Nikolina Gora, Russia and in Berlin, Germany.
