Breton band second album is a real kraut punk gem, a record that goes up a notch with a cleaner, more percussive sound. Already author in 2019 of an excellent first record entitled Cóatlipoca released via the Dinan-based label Crème Brûlée Records, the Breton band Guadal Tejaz brilliantly continues its peregrinations in post punk, psychedelic, and krautrock lands with the publication of a second very percussive album named Noche Triste, still on Crème Brûlée Records, with the support of La Nef D Fous (the association that organizes the inevitable Binic Folks Blues Festival) and accompanied by Beast Records (independent garage and blues label based in Rennes). Coco (guitar and bass), Hugo (drums and drum machine), Morgan (vocals and guitar), and Theo (bass and Korg MS-20 synthesizer) are capable of turning any concert hall or festival upside down, from Binic to the Trans Musicales, including memorable openings for Ty Segall, Idles, Osees, or a live jam session with Damo Suzuki. The combo has decided to beef up its sound by moving towards more krautrock, post punk, and electro sounds in order to obtain an explosive mix that is even sharper and more efficient, as it synthesizes the saturations of punk and kraut with a cleaner and more percussive sound via drum machines and other fiddling. Noche Triste is a real punk kraut pearl that can be swallowed in one go like a shot of tequila and that you'll want to put back between our ears very quickly. In addition to a volley of extremely brilliant and dancing tracks (like cracking under trip, pogo, or epileptic dance to the Ian Curtis), this album which clearly allows them to pass a notch above includes a hit with a damn well found and evocative name, "Krautoxic". A track that keeps all the promises of its title, because it mixes with mastery a kind of ultra-stirring synthetic kraut with a stentor punk vocal that makes you particularly addicted, without forgetting a wah-wah guitar that slams hard, to make a good face. Beware, Guadal Tejaz is about to break out on all the concert halls and festivals far beyond France. For fans of: Ian Curtis, Warsaw, Working Men's Club, Osees.
