Double LP version. This is Germany-based Markus Guentner's second full-length release on Ware, featuring exclusive tracks and remixes. Devoted to brilliant f-2-the-floor tracks, Guentner doesn't eschew his usual ambient minimalist tradition; however, this time he vehemently proves that his understanding of house and techno goes far beyond dub and minimal house, with plenty of genre dipping you've never heard Guentner attempt before. Lovely Society joins dreamy ambient house tracks, abstract disco references and DJ favorites to hit the crowd's euphoric nerve. This album also features a remix by Renato Figoli, who has turned the track "All The Time" into an irresistible minimal trance raver hit. This is by far Guentner's most mature album that mixes what otherwise is treated separately. Vinyl version includes 2 exclusive tracks.

"1981. What a year. The pop culture machine is changing. Punk, Wave, Synth-Pop. Glamour and Revolution. Pop to the barricades! In Germany, the famous music magazine 'Sounds' governs the scene. And the 'real' New German Wave has reached its peak, one year before the so-called quote-pop of 'summer of love' saved us from the 'fake' New German wave. And Markus Guentner was born. 'Wenn Musik der Liebe Nahrung ist' (If Music be the Food of Love) is the title of a track on his new album. It may sound a bit overblown, but you will adore it. As if it was a matter of live and death, Markus Guentner conjures his laptop to present even the last secrets of a great love. Emotions have become the most beautiful sound monsters you have ever heard. Three and a half years have passed since his album In Moll (Kompakt 42 DoLP CD11). Three and a half years where the master of sound planes has kept on densifying and refining his magnificent sounds. 1981 presents the whole spectrum of pop ambient sound art and Markus Guentner at its best. 1981 can be regarded as Jove at the shining firmament of Kompakt's Pop Ambient universe. And as if this was not enough, you will notice -- here and there -- a kind of bass drum. But who really cares? It's glowing..."

"After the massive success of his debut 12" 'Regensburg' which has been recognized as a blissful beatless variation of our most favourite music amongst others by German 'DJ pope' Sven Vaeth and the current 'No Title' 12" on Mathias Schaffhäuser's Ware label, Markus Guentner comes up with his first longplay album In Moll (In Minor). Effortlessly he leads us to an ocean of slowly modulating shimmering textures. New romantic laptop emotions drowning through a thicket of enchanted honeycombs of harmony. Water has no beams."

"Three slow burners on the GAS-eous tip, rhythmic but beatless (no kicks to speak of) long tones and hoth-like drones. Reminiscent of Various Artists' epics '8', '9' in spots. Very cool, an interesting (but not necessarily non-sensical) choice for a Kompakt release." -- Hrvatski.
