BASAEC 002EP
|
Luciaen aka Lucien Nicolet presents the second chapter in his Basaec series, with Origins. The new label from the Cadenza Records boss looks back to the roots of his production career, while presenting a futuristic take on electronic dance music. "Origins (Wild Origins)" is a colossal 12-minute piece of neo-classical electronics. Waves of arpeggio synth dominate the beatless track, its mighty stabs and light percussion propelling it along at great speed and urgency. "The Great Amael" features a lo-fi bubbling groove and dusted Hammond organs hustling along while the live percussion shines through. Energetic and infectious, the tone softens with oceanic pads that provide its classic melody.

BASAEC 001EP

Basaec is the new label from Lucien Nicolet aka Luciano, the Chilean DJ/producer behind the Cadenza Records label. The label will be both a vehicle for brand-new music, as well as an imprint to release archival tracks. Credited to Luciaen, and produced at age 19, "Cadenza" is perhaps the first track that kicked off a unique and eclectic production career (as well as giving name to his record label), and features Luciano himself on vocals. "Stranger" is an early production from 1997, which shines a light on the fledgling sound of Luciano's music, taking its influences from European synth and Detroit techno.
