The Main Stem, a Birmingham-based trio from the British neo-disco university, have honed their art with dubby refixes of disco tracks and beyond. Enlisting the help of two live drummers, "Since You Left" sounds like a magic jam session by early Pink Floyd or Hawkwind with Lee Perry at the mystic Black Ark studios, with swirling synth atmospherics, guitar licks, orgiastic strings and electric piano. Prins Thomas opts for funkier groove, adding his own touches, making for a blissful rework.
