Brendon Moeller is an artist that needs no introduction. The South African-born living in the US, like few of his generation constantly challenges himself with new concepts and ideas, has incorporated techno, dub, jazz, ambient, sound design into his works throughout the years. He's never chased the limelight, but instead the work, one idea after the next, one project after the other, restless. He has collaborated with labels like Echocord, Third Ear, Electric Deluxe, Prologue, and Mord, to name some. Materialize is his first work for Vibrant Music. From his early days in various bands in the '80s and '90s, Brendon liked indie, shoegaze, ambient, moody, cinematic 'scapes. With Materialize he came full circle, reaching out to his early influences, but with the knowledge and experience of many years of exploration of modular synths, to create a concept space that feels intimate, and at the same time vivid evokes visual imagery. It explores the time space through a minimalist, stoic approach. It tells the story of how we are all linked into this tree of music we call electronic music, wherever each one is coming from. A celebration of life through the mind of one of today's scholars of electronic music. A liberation from the strictness of tempo and metronomes, to reach to a more creative state.

ECHOECHO 004EP

Dub techno veteran Brendon Moeller offers up three originals on Echocord sub-label Echo Echo. "Set In Motion" leads with Brendon's signature murky synth textures at its core whilst lumpy low-end tones, shuffled hats and spiraling dub echoes fluidly undulate amongst one another throughout.

Copenhagen's Echocord Colour returns with New York based artists Brendom Moeller's Magic City EP. Brendon Moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused techno. With "Caravan", you're treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs, expansive atmospherics, and robust drums. "Magic City" follows and ups the energy levels with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. "Magic City In Dub" follows and offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original. "Departure" closes with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms, and murky, wandering vocals.

Words from the artist: "Much in line with the label aesthetic, I set out with these trax to explore the dubbier hypnotic side of techno music. My goal was to present 3 trax that could be played at different times of the evening because there's nothing like giving a DJ who has to carry a bag of vinyl around the world a record where each track can be played in one night! of course, the question remains, are you a DJ that wants to play 3 trax like this? if yes, buy this now."

EDLX 021EP
|
Whetting appetites for Works, Brendon Moeller's ninth studio album, Electric Deluxe present the Wanderer EP, with remixes from Tommy Four Seven and Jonas Kopp. "Wanderer" nods to techno's dark and industrial side, while its crashing hats and surging bass allude to Berlin. Jonas Kopp toughens "Wanderer" into one of his signature, marching work-outs, sliced with urgent stabs. Tommy Four Seven picks up the track's shimmering melody in its pre-mastered state and tousles it with his distinctive bone-crushing beat work.

Electric Deluxe taps two of Brendon Moeller's tracks from Works (EDLX 025CD) for remixes. "Adjust to the Fading Light" sees a rare vocal refix from Ben Klock. Meanwhile, Moeller mutes the hats and brings the track's whirring dystopian bed to the fore with his "Echologist" version. "Writing Wrongs" is dragged to subaqueous depths by Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell as cv313. Craig McWhinney takes "Writing Wrongs" in the other direction, soaring past Moeller's original on a hazy, sun-kissed dub trip.

Electric Deluxe are proud to announce the ninth studio album from dub techno purveyor Brendon Moeller. Conceived in late 2010 and inchoately developed during a spell in Amsterdam with EDLX head Jochem Paap overseeing the project, Works flaunts Moeller at the height of danceabilty while remaining true to his steeped lineage as a maker of textured, atmospheric and subaqueous electronic music. After the experimental Subterranean -- a near beatless record comprised from a single live mixdown of sounds collated over the course of a year under his Echologist moniker, Works shifts focus back to the dancefloor with a collection of propulsive techno tracks, saturated with the visceral groove that has come to define Moeller's discography. From the submerged and spacious "Writing Wrongs" and bleepy, strung-out antics of "Far Out" to the house-kissed "Take A Dive Into The Sound" and darker, chugging cuts that close Works, the album pools together the threads of a prolific production history, spanning almost two decades, into a single succinct album. With a particular nod to his other Beat Pharmacy alias -- affiliated exclusively with François K's Deep Space Media label and New York party -- Moeller's expansive output has fused dub and techno with jazz, Afrobeat and psychedelic pastiches to carry on as much as refashion the Basic Channel heritage into his own distinctive patois. But what makes Works a truly unique product is Paap's influence over the record. "Off The Grid," "Wanderer" and "Adjust To The Fading Light" are as some of the toughest bass-driven efforts from Moeller to date, balancing some of the album's brighter tracks like "In Pursuit" with techno's pounding, industrial heartbeat. The result is an eclectic imagining of the genre, showing the many sides and emotions of techno, and Moeller himself.

Brendon Moeller is back after 3 EPs on Echocord, but this time on Echocord Colour. "Mainline" is very powerful dub-techno that will please all the fans out there. The B-side is a remix by the one and only Robag Wruhme. He comes up with a killer remix, a real floor-burner -- peak-time techno at its best, with the typical sounds from Robag's universe. On orange-colored vinyl.

MULE 065EP
|
Brendon Moeller is back on Mule Electronic with three deep tracks. Title track "Juice" is dubby and space-y deep house -- already a big favorite of Steve Bug's. "Gonubie" is Afro tech-house which reflects his African roots. "Disco Devil" reflects Brendon's new style, reminiscent of the early Theo Parrish stuff.

The Grand Seigneur of dub, Brendon Moeller, serves up his follow-up to the already delightful Big Thrill release on Connaisseur's sub-imprint Supérieur. With his Big Shot EP, the South-African living in New York drops four massive cuts of deep dub -- timeless and full of Detroitish and Hardwax-esque references. "Big Shot" comes in dub and original, "The Boost" is somewhere between house, techno and dub, and "The Urge" is classic, timeless dub-techno with dusty and mumbling soundscapes.

APNEA 022EP
|
"The next chapter of the Apnea saga is signed by one of the rising stars in the techno firmament, Brendon Moeller. Ignition EP is a four tracker that melts techno, house and dub in a perfect way, resulting in a deep but very danceable release. New York-based South African, Brendon Moeller has been seriously producing since 1994. His compositions have been released on Francois K's Wave/Deep Space Media; Third Ear Records, Echocord, Mule Musiq, Leena Music, and Eskimo Recordings. He records as Brendon Moeller, Beat Pharmacy and Echologist. Dub, techno, jazz, Afrobeat and psychedelics are inspirations that appear in most of his music. Whether it be serious dancefloor bizniz, or dubbed-out bass-scapes, his music always possesses a quality and signature that makes him the force he is today. He has collaborated with some of the great dub vocalists of our time, namely Mutabaruka, Spaceape, Mikey Dread and Paul St. Hilaire amongst others."

ECHO 019EP

"We are proud to announce another new genius act to the Echocord-camp. Currently residing in New York, South African ex-pat Brendon Moeller has been producing electronic music since 1993, which is when he purchased his first drum machine. He records as Beat Pharmacy for Francois K's Deep Space Media imprint and as Echologist for Mule Musiq and Kingstreet Records. For his debut outing on Echocord he has created two tracks of lush minimal dub-techno that are a must for fans of the genre. Both tracks are equally strong and feature warm reverb-soaked synths and dubbed out psychedelic basslines that are reminiscent of the more soothing and hypnotic side of the Basic Channel, Deep Chord and Pole. 'Medicine' chugs along with a strong hypnotic dancefloor groove while 'Birth' is catchy and melodic."
