"Octagonist is the follow up album to Ortmann's critically-acclaimed Nightmania album. Taking it to the next level, Ortmann continues to pioneer the avant garde genre with this surround sound album (partially funded by an arts grant from the city of Chicago), with it being the first of its kind. The actual sounds range from old school analog electronic music, electro-acoustic, musique concrète and noise, obsessively assembled with surgical precision. Octagonist is not compatible with compact disc technology, and must be played through a DVD player or DTS decoder for proper surround sound playback. A stereo mix is also on the disc for the listener that has a normal stereo setup. Special guests Raglani (Kranky) & John Wiese (Troubleman, Helicopter) appear on one track. Octagonist is truly an unparalleled aural experience! For fans of Nurse With Wound, Throbbing Gristle, etc."
