"Mindreading finds (in mind's eye) Singer drifting away from the abstruse structures that knotted their debut, morphing into a distinct refinement of their former sound. Following the departure of Todd Rittmann (for Dead Rider space), Singer is now a three piece band made up of charter members Robert A.A. Lowe and the Vida brothers, Adam and Ben. Singer still pops on Adam's abstracted beats, but this time, rhythms are keyed by analog synths and licks courtesy of Lowe and Ben Vida. Group vocals, a democratic fundament to Singer since the start, highlight the songs, at times fingering the languidity of soul music; and diverging in an exchange both restless and copacetic. These men are playing their songs-with-singing collectively, agreed in a new social music. The pleasure of experimentation underlies every direct move made in the name of pop entertainment, with different meanings and readings intact. It all lives as one."

"Singer is the rock band peopled by Robert Lowe, Todd Rittmann, Adam Vida and Ben Vida. Their music has two guitars, bass and some drums, plus four lovesome voices that may or may not have given the band their name (we don't know for sure, they're kinda tightlipped when not singing). The Unhistories sound is psychedelic, but not in the paisley way. More mind-expanding/modern... get it straight, Singer isn't referencing any past trend in music. Their original idea involves their (very) original compositions tangling with voices stumbling, clucking, heaving, whipping, shrieking and sighing in a graceful jumble. This is a crux. They've played around a little bit and there's a convivial breeze that blows the air on show evenings. Singer stride forth from the crowd and strike their variations on the pose. Then the semi-describable WHAM of their show, a friendly sidling that shatters into lurching, explosive entertainment without fail. A stiff-legged stomp with that argument of harmony voices uncoiling throughout. What do you expect? It's kinda tense or it's nothing. But it's not a nightmare, just a weird dream. Don't be afraid!"
