Seth Troxler's releases on labels like Crosstown Rebels and Wolf + Lamb (among others) have shone like stars, and Phil Moffa's studio prowess has seen him team up with the likes of DJ Spider and Anthony Parasole. This collaborative EP opens with "Blue Rawls," which builds broodingly with a basic kick-and-güiro combination beating incessantly against dramatic and chaotic sheets of dense pads and analog wizardry. "Meet the Butcha" is science fiction techno, pure and simple. Swinging drum patterns, perpetual claps, and feverish hat-work nail the energy levels, while classic '90s techno tropes make for a track that sounds fresh yet reassuringly familiar.
