HYPE 040EP
|
2014 release. Luke Vibert, the acid warrior from Cornwall, delivers "Halloween," a dark, stomping acid tormentor resplendent with eerie horror FX and ghostly chords. Tortured vocals give Bam Bam's "Where's Your Child?" a run for its money in this chilling 909-meets-303 breakout. On "Jack U Whole," Vibert explores the 303 bassline further alongside a supernatural vocal and crisp drum programming. SDC aka Space Dimension Controller, fresh from a run of singles on R&S and Royal Oak, weighs in with his "1988 Vibe Mix," keeping it faithful with a mighty jack attack and lifting the mood with some fathoms-deep chords and deft synth melodies.

HYPE 041EP

2014 release. More acidic business from Luke Vibert, one of Cornwall's finest bleeps exponents, following his Halloween (Part One) EP (HYPE 040EP). "iStrain" is deadly mechanical funk of the highest order, with Eastern melodic flavors floating over a bending and bouncing 303 bassline. Tom Demac revisits "Halloween" from Part One and offers up a heavyweight battering ram of a remix, with crushed beats pounding against lysergic modulations and demented vocal phrases. Brooklyn's FaltyDL delivers a stunning breaks version of "Stabs of Regret"; hustling, frenzied breakbeats vie for position with deep and dreamy chords and light synth melodies.
