AERA 012EP
Vince Watson presents a collection of tracks from his peerless archives. All were produced in the late '90s and early '00s. "Fragment III" was released under his V-Phorms alias on the Native label in 2003, but the other three tracks are never-before-heard gems. Watson, of course, has been releasing tough house, acid, and techno under many different names since the '90s, on Planet E, Poker Flat, Cocoon, Ovum, Yoruba, Delsin, and Tresor. He has constantly evolved his sound so that he has tried, and succeeded, at making just about everything. Here he serves up some classic hi-tek soul.

OVM 250EP
Ovum presents Vince Watson's Deja Vu, the final EP in its 20th anniversary series. Watson is a pioneer of the house-techno crossover, and has released on Alola, Delsin, Planet E, F... U! FCOM, Poker Flat Recordings, Bedrock Records, Cocoon Recordings, and his own Bio and Everysoul, since releasing his acclaimed debut album Biologique in 1999. "Deja Vu" is a bubbly ride with an all-enveloping groove, while "Illusion" moves from dark to light with an inspiring, hypnotic drive. Ovum co-founder Josh Wink remixes "Illusion," his trademark tweaks and discreet acid touch matching the frenetic percussion with sweeping synths of Watson's original.

PFR 151EP
Vince Watson is a stalwart of the scene and truly in a league of his own: an unparalleled discography, a singular flair for arrangement, and a signature sound of lush layers and deep, irresistible grooves. "Rock-It" is another complete chapter written in Watson's unique vocabulary. The title-track's swift pacing and bright multi-chords create a constant state of uplift and progression, movement and light. On "Sonar" a prominent chord progression is sustained throughout, running through the track like a shot of neon, ensuring its future as a peak-time anthem. "Feel-It" eases into a looser, deeper tech-house tempo, unraveling tight melodic harmonies for breezy watercolor washes of pads.

PFR 145EP
Glasgow-born producer and DJ Vince Watson has been making genre-defining and genre-bending records for almost 20 years, with highly-celebrated releases on labels such as Planet E, Tresor, Delsin, Ibadan and his own Bio Music. Now living in Amsterdam, this is Vince's first outing on Poker Flat. The title-track is a confident slice of twisted machine-funk, highly charged yet otherworldly in atmosphere. Marco Resmann takes his remix into deeper territories, yet maintains the crisp, full production values of the original nicely. Watson's control over tension and dynamics is exceptional, and he exhibits this again on "Paradise" -- an elegant tech house bomb.

TRESOR 244EP
This is the second 12" from Vince Watson on Tresor. The Interference EP is a double A-side, presenting two different facets to the producer. On one side, the alarmingly huge monster that "Interference" is and on the other, the more lyrical techno works deftly displaying Watson's keys and groove-led approach to production. The EP stands as a superlative testament to the dense and melodically charged chord compositions that characterize his discography, making for a sparkling serotonin package.

TRESOR 239EP
This is the debut release by Vince Watson on Tresor Records. The title track is a mass of positively- and negatively-charged elements spinning around one another in a naturally organized orchestra of sound. Up next is "Flux," which is a much harder affair and less musical then its predecessor. But at 8:55, it is an opus of ambience and melody with swirling synths held together by a driving bass line. The perfect closer to the perfect introduction.

MULE 052EP
This is the debut release by Scotland-based producer Vince Watson on Mule Electronic. He has previously released on Planet E, Delsin, F Communication, Ibadan, to name a few, and he is well-known as a Detroit-influenced artist. "Dualism" is hypnotic and emotional -- true, classic techno music. "Ghost In The Machine" is percussive, uplifting tech house -- as playful as Derrick May.
