New Zealand born Dead Finks are on their way back with a fourth record, one that maintains their trademark blend of hysterical cynicism and strident earnestness. Their propulsive, often abrasive sound of their previous records has now been tempered somewhat by shimmering guitars, hyper-melodic vocal lines and an increased emphasis on clarity and dynamics that absorbs classic pop songwriting, shoegazy textures and avantgarde art-music into their canon. The band started gaining traction in 2021 when the video for their single "(My Human) Extinction" premiered on the taste-making Harakiri Diät channel, becoming a modest hit in underground punk circles. They gained further attention after being hand-picked by Detroit post-punk stalwarts Protomartyr to support several dates of their 2022 EU tour, and went on to support Dry Cleaning on the entire European leg of their 2023 world tour.
