"Through catalogue # 17 we are again introducing a refreshing artist at Soap Records. Gene is from Tel Aviv and migrated to New York in early 2008. The three tracks on this EP indeed mark his very first release, even though the precision of individual sounds rather suggest an old studio stager. The longer side A -- 'Goa Morning' is about a distinctive spotlight with a bass line, as if especially made for the upcoming summer. It is almost needless to mention, that at least by the break, a grand art piece will be presented on the dance floor. The absolute contrary is -- 'Finsternis ist tief (Darkness is Deep).' This track is a perfect rave tool! The sound of the sirens can be understood as reminiscence of Mathew Dear's Audion tracks. A second A-side, however, placed here as B1. On the other hand, with the B2-track -- 'Moving Images,' Gene displays his house-side and applies the use of wind instruments in an extremely functional but not cheesy way. A truly diversified first release, prompting the revival of an old radio slogan: Remember where you heard him first. More about this young man soon on this channel."
