Hailing from Dorset and residing in Bristol, English producer Kinlaw (aka Hamish Trevis) works in a photo lab by day, like Seymour Parrish in One Hour Photo (2002), and by night produces some of the most exciting hip hop England has produced since Hudson Mohawke's first tracks were uploaded to Myspace. His first collection of tracks for Ramp, New Palms Part 1, ranges from low-slung meditative rhythms to bass-heavy speaker-blowing hip hop. Kinlaw cuts and splices hazy field recordings with 144p YouTube rips while sprinkling his tracks with shiny drum hits, referencing R&B and trap through his dreamy skew.
