Gash Trax Vol. 1: Irish fem focused collective, Gash presents a pick-n-mix selection of some of the many varied voices in Irish music at present, blurring the lines between experimental dance and contemporary electronic music. The A side features a deep dive into drums with iced out percs and shape shifting textures from ELLLL. The drum work continues with dance focused, howling rhythms from hard drum icon Syn. These tracks are then juxtaposed with the multi-layered, all engulfing soundscapes of acclaimed composer Irene Buckley. The B side kicks off with overdriven, commanding techno flavors of Caskré, followed by breathy pads, booming subs and precise percussion of Sculptress. Gadget and the Cloud features next, presenting a playful and woozy world with her signature lo-fi, off kilter production style. Last but not least, multimedia composer Anna Murray rounds the records off with immersive, minimalist rumblings of a sly groove in effect.

Off the back of becoming the first DIY act to scoop the Best Single prize at the Northern Irish Music Awards -- not to mention supporting the likes of Built To Spill and Mclusky across Ireland -- Belfast indie psych quartet Junk Drawer arrive fully-fledged on their shapeshifting debut LP, Ready For The House. Blurring the lines between introspective garage, curve-balling kosmiche, and full-blown indie rock worship, the band, who comprise four multi-instrumentalists, navigate stone-cold classics: epilepsy, anxiety, depression, social conscience, and identity.

Idle Mind is the debut album of Anna-Mieke Bishop, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Wicklow, Ireland. Rooted in folk, the ten tracks on the record philosophize through abstract lyrics about place, age, belonging, and various societal misalignments. Musical landscapes are weaved into song on Greek bouzouki, guitar, and piano (and cello, in recordings). As a solo performer and collaborative artist, she has joined forces with a diverse mix of other artists, most notably Brían Mac Gloinn (of folk duo Ye Vagabonds), who, as well as playing on all of the above, adds drones on Indian harmonium and fiddle accompaniment. Another, more recent, collaborator is Matthew Jacobson (of contemporary jazz ensemble Insufficient Funs) adding a flare on percussion. Themes and inspiration for Anna-Mieke's songs stem from a colorful background of experience: learning Maori songs at school in New Zealand and sean-nós songs off the coast of Ireland; hitch-hiking through Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, picking up traditional songs along the way; cycling from her home in Wicklow to the southern tip of Spain; living in Granada for a while, and then, in Cork, performing cello in the experimental improv group, HEX. Anna-Mieke has shared the stage with many established artists, supporting the likes of Lisa Hannigan, Martin Hayes, This Is The Kit, Rozi Plain, Lankum, Gyda Valtysdottir (mum), Rachel Sermanni, Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire), and Ye Vagabonds, while sharing the stage with David Kitt, Landless, and Rosie Carney. From performing in larger venues such as the National Concert Hall and to opening the inaugural RTE Radio Folk Awards in Vicar Street, to underground caves, to manor house ballrooms, to tiny cafés and bookshops, to the precarious ruins of a church, to forest hideaways in the hills of France, Anna-Mieke has shared her songs in a curious combination of spaces.
"Right now, as our lives become a little more virtual, augmented and artificial, Anna Mieke's songs with their infinity of interlaced traditions and her voice with its alluring melody of intimacy is a wonderful and very welcome gift." --Other Voices

After a years-worth of touring in support of their debut album In Heat Not Sorry (2016), the band headed to Dublin's Bow Lane Studios, where over the course of three days they produced a fast-paced and grittier recording to their debut. Clocking in at just 15 minutes, On My Tongue is a window into the rock and roll heart of the group; a side they plan on delving into even deeper with their second album.

Feeler is the debut release from Dublin experimental trio Alien She. The group comprises of Katie O'Neill, Aoife Mairéad Nic Dhonncha, and Darragh McCabe. Founding members Katie and Aoife came together at a feminist meeting, and like true practitioners of punk, with the help of final addition Darragh, their political voice has deepened and developed since the band's formation. Their sound is defined by their combined interest in art, punk, poetry, and expressive music, and their inspiration comes from multiple genres of writing and personal experience. The end result is a mixture of raw and relentless energy which manifests itself in a number of different manners; sometimes in the form of agitated punk, sometimes reminiscent of '80s shoegaze, but their constant progression and experimentation keeps their ever-evolving sound fresh.

With music featured in mixes by Truss and Karen Gwyer amongst others, as well as broadcasts on Rinse FM and NTS, ELLLL has been gaining a name by crafting a sound world all of her own. Delivering a unique live show, her performances are characteristically unapologetic, oblique, and relentless. Expect heavily manipulated samples, resonant beats and dark textures, whilst also drawing influence from drone and noise crossed with vigorous techno leanings. The result is an immersive narrative that pummels the listener.
