"Margo has developed poetic melodic electronic music, where loops and sounds are created from instruments and machines. The band could be described as a convergence between 80's influences (The Cure, Joy Division, Taxi Girl...) and a more intimate electronica scene incorporating warm and delicate electronic organic glitchy-pop sounds (Schneider TM, Barbara Morgenstern...) while maintaining a French identity (Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin...). Margo's second album combines an exciting and fresh mélange of sweet melodic electronic music with more direct fun-loving indietronic sounds & beats. It is like attending a romantic modern electronic ballroom function where dancey-groovy-electro tracks are there to get you on the dance floor for a fun time. But soon enough, the soothing sweet innocent voice of Melanie -- who alternates singing in French and English -- is back to transport you into a well-deserved warm dreamy world. Margo's sound hints at melancholy."

"A new generation of young and exciting French artists has blossomed in the last few years (M83, Cyann & Ben, Berg Sans Nipple, Sex in Dallas, Miss Kittin, Phoenix...). The Cars are the Stars, formerly Playdoh (the name was dropped for legal reasons), can now be counted among these acts. More a collective than a band per say since there is no 'leader' or one unique songwriter, The Cars are the Stars is a gathering of 7 individuals (6 musicians + 1 video artist). The Cars are the Stars delivers delicate, melodic and hypnotic electronic music with their second album Fragments. The lyrics, both in French and English, coupled with alternating male/female voices, are another appealing characteristic of the band. German minimal electronic music -- with a French touch -- meets classic indie-rock of the 90's. Melancholy and emotions are wonderfully expressed. Bands such as Hood, Boards of Canada, Bowery Electric, Superpitcher, The Notwist, Blonde Redhead, and Pavement have influenced the sound of The Cars are the Stars."
