Bedroom Tapes is comprised solely of lost material from a recently discovered box of cassettes that emerged in the process of a house move. These tracks capture some of Paul Woolford's most wide-eyed and naïve creative impulses at a tender age. Seemingly lost forever, some were part of sessions that led to him being signed to now-defunct UK techno imprint Blue Basique. This is the first chapter in this archive and an intimate portrait of the artist at a key stage of his creative development. The tracks have been carefully mastered at Metropolis with a loving hand by Matt Colton who has been meticulous to retain their idiosyncrasies. Manufactured at optimal media, Germany.

Centering on the theme of death, A Quiet Ritual seeks to process the shock and grief of bereavement and its aftermath, as well as casting back across history and other cultures for their own metaphors and coping strategies. Snow Ghosts explain, "A Quiet Ritual maps out stages of the grieving process and how every individual deals with it in their own unique way. Most importantly how they handle their own heart and the other fragile hearts inevitably scattered around them. The song 'Rip' is about the initial shock of grief, the effect it has on loved ones and the untimely destruction of dreams." Recorded in a castle in the countryside and two years in the making, A Quiet Ritual is written for an ensemble of classical and modern instruments including the carnyx, an Iron Age Celtic boar-headed horn excavated from a bog in Deskford, Scotland. For the carnyx, they enlisted the services of John Kenny, one of just a few musicians able to play the instrument and the first to do so in modern times. The mix of instruments is indicative of the idiosyncratic timelessness common to this album and all of their previous works: having had a historical context present on their previous albums, the inclusion of the carnyx ties the release together, combining ritualistic themes with an instrument commonly used in rituals or as an offering in ancient culture. CD version comes in gatefold sleeve.
Snow Ghosts are Ross Tones, Hannah Cartwright, and Oliver Knowles. Formed in 2008, their musical interests reside in our own time, the beginning of time and all points between. The trio explore the complex weave of the eternal, love, death and nature through the contemporary mediums of genres spanning electronica, post-rock and heavier sounds to create an immersive, physical ambience.

Throwing Snow returns to London's artist-led Houndstooth label with Loma. Compiling all eight excerpts from the four-part series, this package will see the tracks pressed to vinyl for the first time, accompanied with a brand new, 11-minute extended remix from Brooklyn-based Octo Octa (100% Silk/Running Back/Honey Soundsystem). Opening with the held-back, break-neck stepper of "Simmer", through to the jagged-edge, half time DnB bomb of "Vulpine", and the lightly swung, garage-infused blows of "Subtitles", this marks Ross Tones's most varied and proficient work to date on one of electronic music's most essential imprints. Cut and mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy.

Alec Storey has been having a fantastic couple of years. In terms of his solo output, he's released an EP on the rhythmic powerhouse Nervous Horizon (2016), along with several releases as Al Tourettes, and he has also released several collaborative EPs with his trusted chap Appleblim on R&S Records. Now, Second Storey returns to his home label, Houndstooth, and is back with Lucid Locations. Lucid Locations is a collection of irrevocably personal productions that were written between his movements between Suffolk and London, all whilst the label's dad, Fabric, was closing down and Brexit had become a reality. Lucid Locations winds down paths that explore breakbeat, electro, IDM, and techno. For any listeners wanting to sink their teeth into something far-reaching and familiar at the same time, this is definitely worth checking out. "Barrel Roll" is a perfect entry point, not only because it captures the essence of Second Storey as a project in 2017 (as well as his growth from the excellent Al Tourettes releases), but it also emphasizes the perseverance and poise that Storey carries over from his personal life into the tracks that he creates. Keep on, carry on, and rave until the lights come on.

Double LP version. Embers, the new album from Ross Tones, aka Throwing Snow, is a conceptually imaginative and musically atmospheric recording that draws stimulus from laws and patterns of the natural world. Excelling creatively from the freedom and restrictions of applying aspects of these elements, Embers emerges vividly from the processes employed in its creation. Recorded in Daddry Shield, County Durham, sounds captured in the surrounding area became part of the music. Rain is transformed into white noise, at one point a melody line is mimicked by a starling - all of which is the result of endless processes and cycles. The techniques used in creating Embers allegorically mirror these processes. Reproducing the way materials are reused in the natural world, tracks are born, live and then die only to be reborn into a new form. All the tracks have similar counterparts whether in structure, dynamics or melodies. Arpeggios self-evolve and are interconnected, randomness is introduced utilizing two similar pairs of synthesizers so that their cycles are ever changing and naturally evolving. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy.

Double LP version. Pressed to 180 gram vinyl and housed in a PVC sleeve. Throwing Snow, one of the UK's most unique electronic artists, releases his much-anticipated debut album Mosaic on Houndstooth, following the Pathfinder EP, which drew acclaim from Pitchfork, The Guardian (Track of the Week), DAZED, Quietus and FACT. Throwing Snow spent large parts of 2013 attending Red Bull Music Academy in New York, making numerous Boiler Room appearances and supporting the likes of Bonobo, Atoms For Peace and Jon Hopkins. Mosaic features fellow RBMA attendees Adda Kaleh and KNOX, rising UK songwriters Py and Jassy Grez, while Ninja Tune signee Kid A vocalizes the mesmerizing "Hypnotise." Mosaic combines different influences from instruments and equipment rather than styles and musicians to form a coherent whole with varying sounds of production distilled into something cohesive.
