LENSKE 009EP
|
If you've come across Amelie Lens's Fabric Presents mix (FABRIC 204CD/LP, 2019), then the name of Ahl Iver shall definitely ring a bell. New sensation Ahl Iver is undeniably on the cusp of big things, and his debut EP, Haunted Patterns, sets the tone in gutsy fashion. The opening track "7AM" features a punchy gabber kick and rush, hard-hitting drums and a healthy dose of slimy acid squelch to leave you dazed and confused for a while. Adding his ever-efficient spin to the original, Lenske mainstay Milo Spykers reworks the groove onto straightforward clubby railway as he sure knows well how to subdue the dancers through the most wildly enjoyable ankle-twisting/brain-melting maneuvers. As its name suggests, the title-track "Haunted Patterns" is a spooky dancefloor affair. Allowing a 4/4 hell to break loose on the basement while enveloping it in further hypnotic synths and intense cosmic vibrations. Lovers of classic Altern-8 style hardcore shall find the perfect outlet to their headbanging fantasies in the euphoria-inducing "Rave Simulator". With four cuts tailored to take clubs and dance floors by storm, Ahl Iver steps up for his debut record on Lenske.

Paris-based DJ and producer Airod, aka Dario Brkic, returns to Amelie Lens' Lenske for his second 12" on the Belgian label, Rave Cycle EP. Previous solo EPs on Molekul, on his Elixyr and the acclaimed Voltage EP on Lenske earlier in 2019 have brought him to play at some of the most emblematic clubs of the international circuit and become part of the Exhale showcases. Following a new round of bombastic releases by the Lenske crew: Farrago, Milo Spykers, and Lens herself, it's now the turn for the Elixyr Records boss to bring the heat. As expected from Airod, this new record sounds like it could have been released in 1994. He uses references from rave, acid, and gabber together with his fresh approach, the result are four club-ready cuts to hit massive sound systems. The A side features the title track "Rave Cycle" and "Falling Angels" that with epic narrative and 303 conquering waves become perfect anthems for sweaty warehouse parties. "Bloodshed" on the flip-side illustrates Dario's acid exercises in pure form while "Fury" is the final weapon to burn the dancefloor with hardcore vibes.

Amelie Lens returns to drop her second solo release on Lenske. First in line, the hard-hitting "Helium" blurs the dancer's mind through a haze of understated sub-bass moves and sonar bleeps. Carried through by Amelie's signature vocals, "Man Over Machine" continues down the hypnotic path with unrelenting efficacy, before the stadium-sized steamroller "Little Robot" takes you to a raving climax. Last but not least, the aptly named "Storm" raises the BPMs to ensure maximal impact until the very final moments. Transparent vinyl.

Sam Deliaert alias Farrago rekindles the flame with the high-beam pulse of Neontrance. Melding a heavy-duty four-to-the-floor with well-timed breaks and fluttering, bleepy melodies, the "pure emotion" of "Neontrance" makes for the central pivot around which the other tracks revolve and articulate. The EP opens with the stomping and churning "Sinner". Pulling out the trenchant katana samples, spiraling bass and weird mouth noises, the minimalistic "No Jutsu" is one to crank up the heat effortlessly. Completing the picture, the original version of "Risin" echoes Kobosil's anthemic revamp from 2018: a bouncy joyride in acidic marshes and hallucinogenic landscapes.

LENSKE 005EP

Following his debut solo EP in late 2018, Milo Spykers returns to Lenske with his second outing, Observable 93. "Beyond" sets the tone right away with its heavy battery of pounding kicks and cavalcading drums whipping a frenzy as full-on cascades of liquid-like synth modulations. The title track then puts on the kind of no-nonsense hardcore rave build-up. The strenuous "All You Need Is A Thought" rotates and revolves like a satellite gone out of its orbiting trajectory into deep space. "The Invisible" tops it all off in particularly nasty fashion, keeping the pressure gauge in the red up.

Holding steady after a busy season that saw her deliver releases on the likes of Pan-Pot, Second State and Arts, Belgian techno architect Amelie Lens is now set to release her debut solo outing, Basiel EP on her own label Lenske. Named after her godchild, Basiel EP blazes with the truly euphoric, hi-NRG pulse that defines both Lens' productions and the large-scope vision she has for Lenske. No doubt this collection of boisterous tech ransackers will turn from secret mass destruction weapons into peak time missiles for the hotheads out there. Transparent vinyl in custom transparent sleeve.

Belgium's Amelie Lens launches her own label: Lenske. The first release by Farrago, Risin', comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. "The Riddler" is the first to puncture. The title track, "Risin'", will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP's other tracks. Lens's signature sultry vocal samples on "Jealousy" draw the contours of a jaw-grinding banger, while "Hidden Power" rounds out the release with a blaring dancefloor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement.
