"The Still Brothers are Andrew LeCoche (Ula Ruth) and Evan Heinze (The Shacks) 'Wake Up' was created in a New York winter on a cloudy day. The song's bones were sculpted in the classic Still Brothers' fashion making use of a collection of favourite sounds. It came to life when Brazilian friend and collaborator Marina B heard the track in her sleep and thought of the song's lyrics as she woke up. It might take you to that place in-between dreams and the waking life, where you are pulled in and out of a state of slumber. It incidentally speaks to the abrupt change that was about to fall upon the world in early 2020. Between the singing in Portuguese and the sounds of subway doors, the song is just alienating enough to make anyone these days to feel right at home. 'Wake Up' was mixed by Will Dorey aka Skinshape and mastered by Alex DeTurk. The cover art was designed by Sofia Ohanna. Inspired by subway preachers, jazz funerals and hip-hop 'The Deep' serves as an introduction to the dazzling skills of New York production duo The Still Brothers. Their debut track breaks open with a reverend crying out about the transgressions we have committed against each other. He then observes that so many of us are throwing up our hands in an act of surrendering. A poignant sentiment in these troubling times and one that will resonate throughout the world."

2018 release. "Debut album for Lewis Recordings -- the soundtrack to an imaginary film Skinshape is the project of British musician William Dorey. The sound has roots in many genres but in particular 1960s-70s funk, soul, reggae, psychedelic rock, Afrobeat, and folk. Skinshape grew out of a love for old music and the way it sounded. Initially, Dorey experimented with samples (especially drum breaks) to create instrumental hip-hop/trip-hop tracks but then later started to play around with tape machines as a means to create his own 'samples'. This process gave birth to Skinshape with all elements being recorded by Dorey since the first self-titled album released in 2014. He released his second album Oracolo in 2015 followed by Life & Love in 2017. Aside from the Skinshape project, Dorey was bassist for the band Palace from 2014-2017 and runs a reggae label called Horus Records based in North London."

Double LP version. "More Elevator Music is twelve tracks of jazz-edged hip-hop and reassuring curiosity reaching from the fuzziest depths of its backpack, with Iggy Pop, Malik Crumpler, Florian Pellissier, Kenny Ruby, Tibo Brandalise and Greg F providing assists. Jazz trumpeter, composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, provocateur and, 'masterful genre-bender', Leron Thomas, a New York transplant from Houston, was once upon a time in his own words 'just your run of the mill jazz musician realizing that I didn't vibrate well on the NYC jazz scene'. His credentials that have put him in his own lane, make a mockery of such self-deprecation. Charles Tolliver -- Thomas' one-time trumpet teacher in college -- is but one scene great he has performed with. Broadly speaking he can name Bilal, 88 Keys, Dennis Ferrer, Lauryn Hill (as part of her touring band) and Zara McFarlane as further conspirators of note. His performance critiqued by the NY Times as 'intelligent, casual, a little nuts and completely entertaining', Thomas has featured on Gilles Peterson's vanguard Brownswood Bubblers compilation series, and his 2015 release Cliquish was shortlisted by Peterson at the Worldwide awards in the best album category, described as a 'brilliant LP that really breaks the mould'. Prolifically off the radar and realigning his style inspired by the likes of Frank Zappa, David Bowie, George Clinton, James Brown, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Herbie Nichols and Frankie Beverly, Thomas' most recent position at the wheel of reinvention was as a vital cog behind Iggy Pop's Free album of 2019."

"First repress since 2002. Includes the singles 'Mic Manipulator' and 'Rapperfection (ft Mr.Lif)'. Stanton Swihart of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, calling it 'a wild, weird, instantly left-field rap masterpiece from one seriously bugged-out, innovative loner.' Thomas Quinlan of Exclaim! described it as 'an album that embraces the late '80s/early '90s of hip-hop, with old school beats and battle rhymes (the Primitive), while at the same time shaking hands with new school lyricism and space age effects (the Plus).' Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club wrote: 'One of the year's most promising debuts, Primitive Plus makes the beats of yesterday and the flows of today sound like the hip-hop of tomorrow.'"

"Second album in less than a year from the prolific William Dorey. Includes the singles 'Another Day', 'Behind The Sun', and 'Losing My Mind'. Building on the success of 2018's Filoxiny (listed as one of Q Magazine's '354 Albums to Blow Your Mind') and this year's Umoja ('a pleasure to listen to from start to finish' --Songlines) -- both of whose singles have peppered the playlists of BBC 6 Music and have led to his helming of a Bandcamp takeover -- Skinshape returns with the witheringly, prophetically titled Arrogance Is The Death Of Men. Written and recorded between November 2019 and July 2020, Skinshape bids to recreate something akin to the 'old style' of Oracolo (2015) and Life & Love (2017). With Arrogance..., Will Dorey's blueprint points to a simple formula, aligning a bank of fresh drum breaks recorded at the end of 2019 to whatever he had to hand, for a long player recorded in the majority at home due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Forever balanced between sweetness and a sigh, as per his position 'Behind the Sun', the Skinshape essence, intricate yet always reachable, at times tailored in a single session and sourcing archive bric-a-brac when required, is all around on the sweetly strummed 'Tomorrow' and 'The Eastern Connection', featuring Ivan Kormanak on drums. Maintaining an incisive knowledge of global sounds that keeps him in the filmic company of Khruangbin and El Michels Affair, Dorey's listening to vintage Vietnamese music and Asian film scores provides the basis of 'Sound of Your Voice' and 'Flight of the Erhu', starring Wan Pinchu on Erhu violin. Acutely aware of the world's ongoing health crisis without preaching about the whys and wherefores, the title track and 'Losing My Mind' reflect enforced confinement as tranquil songs of both quiet consideration yet powerful release. Dorey's guitar pieces and wraith-like soul continue to flicker with fascination as Indian Summers and fireside retreats beckon, with 'Watching From The Shadows' -- about 'standing up for yourself, and avoiding the limelight for your own good' -- and 'Outro' gently bringing the album to rest." CD packaging is gatefold with choice of 5 inserts to "choose your own cover".

"Life & Love is the third album from Skinshape (with Filoxiny being his fourth). Written, Recorded and Produced by Will Dorey at the Arch Studio, London, and in his bedroom. "Oracolo is Skinshape's second full length originally released in 2015 and now remastered for 2020. The album plays out like the soundtrack to a psychedelic Spaghetti Western. 'Old Days' is one of a handful of vocal-lead tracks on the release that along with 'Summer' and the cinematic album title track, 'Oracolo' conjure references to bands like Can, The Bees or modern pysch pioneers Tame Impala. The instrumentals peppered throughout like the Quentin Tarantino-esque gem 'Mandala' and Motown reminiscing 'Rubber Gloves' highlight Dorey's superb talent as an arranger and composer. Don't let the vintage sound fool you either. All of his magic is original, without a sample in sight. Every instrument either played by Dorey himself, or his array of guest friend musicians. For the Oracolo artwork, Skinshape joined forces with acclaimed New York based artist Jared Buschang. This is one of Buschang's early pieces simply named 'Untitled'. The Picasco-esqe style makes the perfect visual representation for the music within."

"Fifth studio album featuring Malcolm Catto, D'Alma, Idd Aziz and Modou Touré. Includes the singles Sua Alma, In The End and Afande. His most accomplished album to date Will Dorey aka Skinshape moved out of his comfort zone to create a new sound while retaining his trademark feel. While Skinshape has often been influenced by African music Umoja directly incorporates styles and rhythms from the continent. Drawing on London's vast talent pool from across the globe collaborators bring the essence of Senegal, Portugal, Ghana and Kenya via Norway no name but a few. The initial plan was to travel to various African nations to record Umoja. This proved to be an unnecessary step because Skinshape's hometown of London ended up bearing many fruits. It was a challenging project for Dorey taking a year and a half of dedicated work to complete with many ideas left unfinished along the way. The album has a very global feel which was enhanced at the end of the process by a collaboration with Japanese painter Ken-ichi Omura. Fans of Skinshape's distinctive voice will not be disappointed as he features on 'In The End' and 'Sun'. Long-time friend and collaborator Jon Moody (from the band Franc Moody) wrote the album's horn parts."

"While Edan's critically acclaimed debut, Primitive Plus, was a celebration of hip-hop's golden age and a true throwback, his sophomore album, Beauty And The Beat, is a vast musical collage that contains many different influences; hip-hop, rock, pop, dusty breaks, hazy loops, luxurious off-kilter samples and curveball tempo changes that are all crafted into one cohesive piece of art. In 2015, FACT placed it at number 30 on the '100 Best Indie Hip-Hop Records of All Time' list. In 2013 NME placed it at number 392 on the '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' list."

10" vinyl version. "The exploratory sonic investigation from An Explore brings together Rob Macdonald and Lucy Wilkins, united by instrumentalism and experimental methods of composition. The five tracks of 1 are the result of field recordings helping find a natural musical course within. With Wilkins adding layer upon layer of violins and the occasional vocal to go with Macdonald's pianos and guitars, effects pedals became a key instrument in holding sound and aligning with the sympathies, enigmas and solitude of the record. Slowly shapeshifting through Fender Rhodes and violins, 'Pools With Living Things' chronicles evolving chords frozen into a chain of effects processors. Inspired by Japanese garden water musical devices, 'Small Drop (Suikinkutsu)' is as much as about the physical as the orchestrally solemn. ''Suikinkutsu' is where water is allowed to drip into a large earthenware jar onto water, creating beautiful sounds', explains Macdonald. 'I created a version of Suikinkutsu by purchasing a large pot and tray from a garden centre and recorded the water as it dripped into the reservoir, selecting parts where the melody of the water splashing spoke loudest'. 'Under A Bridge' captures moments of a canoe making its way across the Thames as keys wax and wane, twinkle and torment themselves. Out of the manipulation of Moog and Juno on 'Granite', Macdonald and Wilkins head to a Valencia rooftop for 'San Valero', the chimes from the Bells of San Valero in the district of Rusafa drifting across an early summer's evening, before the abrupt ending of the field recorder closes an EP both freeform and visibly outlined."

"Skinshape's 'I Didn't Know' finally gets a vinyl release! With over 15,000,000 (yes, fifteen million!) plays on YouTube and over 2,000,000 on Spotify we thought it was only fair that Skinshape's most popular song was released on glorious vinyl. The track is already on the Filoxiny album so Skinshape extended the mix and backed it with a dub version for the flip. Skinshape is the project of British musician William Dorey. LP version. "A soul and jazz spreading of wings, with the help of scene headliners Nubya Garcia, Omar, Joel Culpepper, Jungle Brothers and Edo. G. Home Cooking is the new, mature sound of DJ Yoda. Maximizing the experience and enjoyment gained from recording live instruments and prioritizing songs over beats for his previous two albums Breakfast of Champions and Chop Suey, this is a big step for the cut-and-paster as a producer, having wowed the world over for over two decades with his celebrated turntable tomfoolery. Recorded between his own studio and the world-famous Abbey Road, Home Cooking keeps one foot in the hip-hop old school with collaborations with the returning Jungle Brothers (the party-starting 'Afrika') and Boston bastion Edo. G (a peaceful route from London to 'Roxbury'), and spreads to a melodic vibe scoring chilled Sunday mornings. 'I titled this one Home Cooking because the music is so close to my heart, in terms of what I grew up on, and what really speaks to me on a personal level'. Imbued with the spirit of Guru's 'Jazzmatazz', the output of Acid Jazz and 90s vitals from the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, Yoda admits that it's a happy accident that, whilst drawing on jazzy, soulful hip-hop from 25 years ago, the sound of Home Cooking is very much of-the-moment."
