Hymns & Ghosts is the debut album from Lost Harbours and the culmination of two years of gigging and refining a collection of songs which were written in 2007/8. Loosely categorized as "psych-folk," Lost Harbours bring together a broad range of influences from Pink Moon-era Nick Drake, John Martyn, Nico, Charalambides, and Richard Youngs to literary touchstones such as William Blake, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Jorges Luis Borges. Lost Harbours draw on themes of renewal and loss, the movements of the seasons, and impending doom; this mood is best characterized by the two long, improvised tracks which bookend the album. The second of these pieces features vocals from Bobbie Watsonof legendary cult '70s psych-folk band Comus.
