"After the success of Death Walks Behind You, an appearance on Top of the Pops, and a successful tour, it was time for emerging stars Atomic Rooster to record their third studio album, In Hearing Of. The album is a perfect example of a band evolving and in constant transition, such as they show with this little-known gem of the '70s British rock. Much less bombastic than the band's earlier releases, In Hearing Of is almost funky at times. The lyrics are doom-laden in the spirit of much of this genre of British hard rock at the time, and pseudo-classical references crop up from time to time, but Vincent Crane's keyboards are generally tasty, and the melodies are often downright memorable. In Hearing Of is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on translucent magenta color vinyl."

"In The Skies (1979) is the second solo album by British blues rock inventor Peter Green, who was the founder of Fleetwood Mac and a member from 1967 to 1970. In The Skies was released almost a decade after his first solo stint The End Of The Game (1970). Accompanying Green on this album were several experienced session musicians, including Snowy White, who went on to work with Pink Floyd before joining Thin Lizzy. White contributed some of the lead guitar work on the album. Also present was Green's colleague and friend from his earliest bands, Peter Bardens, and Robin Trower drummer Reg Isidore. Five of the nine songs are instrumentals, continuing a longtime Green tradition. In The Skies is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on translucent blue colored vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve."

"Founded in 1971, Matumbi was among the earliest and best British reggae bands. They did, however, also record under different guises, including The 4th Street Orchestra. In their acclaimed Rough Guide to Reggae, Steve Barrow and Peter Dalton rate this album (and its counterpart Leggo! Ah-Fi-We-Dis) as 'the best showcase for Matumbi's talents.' This release marks the first LP reissue of this genuine UK roots-monument since 1976. Original member Dennis 'Blackbeard' Bovell (of LKJ and Dub Band fame) knew the local sound system-scene like the back of his hand and most tracks on Ah Who Seh? Go Deh! were initially cut as exclusive 'specials' for his own Jah Sufferer sound system and for fellow soundmen. Hardly anyone hearing these tunes at reggae parties or would have guessed they didn't originate in Kingston but were recorded in London. And neither did many who bought the records when they were released a few years later. That's hardly surprising, as the material Bovell & Co churned out could easily compete with the toughest output of their Jamaican counterparts. A splendid version of the 1970 Kingstonians smash 'Singer Man' is the most familiar tune here. But it's the band's own outstanding, heavyweight roots tunes like 'Jah Chase Dem' or 'Za-Ion,' their versions popping up later in true sound system style for maximum impact, that will have reggae fans prick up their ears. Ah Who Seh? Go-Deh! is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on orange colored vinyl."

"Call Me By Your Name, the film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by Andre Aciman. Summer of 1983, Northern Italy. An American Italian is enamored by an American student who comes to study and live with his family. Together they share an unforgettable summer full of music, food, and romance that will forever change them. The film received widespread critical acclaim, particularly for Chalamet, Hammer and Stuhlbarg's performances, Guadagnino's direction, and the screenplay. Call Me By Your Name won a variety of awards, including an Academy Award, BAFTA, GLAAD and the 23rd Critics' Choice Award amongst others. Sufjan Stevens' song 'Mystery of Love' was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Luca Guadagnino wanted the film's music to be connected to Elio, a young pianist who likes to transcribe and adapt pieces to get close to Oliver. The music is used to reflect the time, the characters' family, level of education and 'the kind of canon they would be a part of.' Guadagnino found himself resonating with Sufjan Stevens' lyricism through his work and initially asked Stevens to record an original song. Eventually, Stevens contributed three songs to the soundtrack: 'Visions of Gideon,' which was used at the end of the film, 'Mystery of Love,' which was featured in the film's first trailer, and a new rendition of 'Futile Devices' with piano. Stevens penned the songs by using the script, the book, and the conversations with the director about the characters. It marks Sufjan Stevens' first soundtrack for a feature film. Call Me By Your Name is available as a limited edition of 15,000 copies on 'Velvet Purple' colored vinyl. The double LP is housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with rainbow laminate finish and includes printed innersleeves, an insert with movie stills, and a poster."

"Michael Campbell started out as an engineer with the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation and made reggae history presenting his Dread At The Controls radio program, after which he embarked on a successful career as an innovative performing artist, producer and bona fide dubmaster. As such, he was among the first to utilize the incredibly talented, young the Roots Radics to lay the foundations of his tracks. Much less relying on endlessly recycled riddims from the Studio One and Treasure Isle catalogues than many of his peers, Mikey mostly delivered crisp, original tunes. They were 'deconstructed' at King Tubby's studio -- the birthplace of dub -- in this case by virtuoso Scientist with Mikey himself. Dread at the Controls indeed! This catalogue includes the majestic 'Two Track Dub' (a version of the Roots & Culture riddim) and 'Demo Dub' (versioning Radio One, featured on the B-side of The Clash' Hitsville UK). Dub Catalogue Volume 1 is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent yellow color vinyl."

"The pioneer of toasting Ewart Beckford, better known by his stage name U-Roy, is a Jamaican vocalist. He was bursting onto the Jamaican scene in the early 1970s with his typical rapping style of singing (toasting) over the rhythms and beats he created. Suddenly, Jamaica awoke one morning, and U-Roy was everywhere. He released his debut album Version Galore in 1970; it consists of his earliest songs, all recorded for Duke Reid's Treasure Isle label. Most listeners will especially recognize 'Tide Is High,' originally by the Paragons and it was of course later recorded by Blondie. Version Galore is available as limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on gold colored vinyl."

"Born in Natick, Massachusetts, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jonathan Richman began playing music and writing his own songs in the mid-60s. While in Boston, Richman formed the Modern Lovers, a proto-punk garage rock band. Other notable members of the group were keyboard player Jerry Harrison and drummer David Robinson, who later joined Talking Heads and the Cars, respectively. In 1975, Richman moved to California to record as a solo singer/songwriter. In January 1976, Richman put together a new version of the Modern Lovers, which included original Modern Lovers drummer David Robinson, along with former Rubinoos bassist Greg 'Curly' Keranen, and Leroy Radcliffe on guitar. The album Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers was released in May 1976, three months prior to the earlier Modern Lovers sessions which were released as their eponymous self-titled debut studio album. Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on gold color vinyl."

"This classic album from 1973 saw its creator, Lee 'Scratch' Perry exploring synths and starting to develop his Black Ark sound -- the enigmatic producer was at the time in the process of building his famous studio and honing his ideas about dub as a musical form. The LP opens with the eerie 'Kentucky Skank,' Perry's ode to KFC, complete with frying chicken sounds, spliced between winding tapes, a ghostly trumpet, and futuristic moog synthesizer, overdubbed at London's Chalk Farm studios. U Roy's 'Double Six' and I Roy's 'High Fashion' & 'Hail Stones' illustrate just how strong The Upsetter's deejay material had become, while versions of the Chi-Lites' 'We Are Neighbours', Sam & Dave's 'Soul Man' and a re-working of Al Green's 'Love and Happiness' (retitled 'Jungle Lion') all betray the funky soul influence that was increasingly shaping his work. The backing tracks illustrate the producer at his best; the audio spectrum is fully differentiated while spatial placement an important component -- something it would take years for him to achieve at the Black Ark. Double Seven is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on silver colored vinyl."

"Velvett Fogg were a psychedelic rock band and active during the late 1960s. They were one of the many new bands from the Birmingham underground scene. Toni Iommi was a brief member at the time but left to form Black Sabbath. They were given a record deal by Pye Records, through which they released their first and only studio album, the self-titled Velvett Fogg. The original package was accompanied by a quote from the legendary U.K. disc jockey John Peel, who commented that 'there is a lot of good music on this record. Remember Velvett Fogg -- you will hear the name again.' However, despite favorable reviews, the album didn't become as commercially successful as expected and the band soon broke up. The album has since become a much sought after title. Velvett Fogg is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on green and white marbled vinyl."

"The original Jamaican extra-terrestrial marked a return to the power of Lee 'Scratch' Perry's most spaced-out work. On Jamaican E.T., Perry created a contemporary and challenging set by applying his psychedelic dub to roots reggae, modern reggae, hip-hop, and dazed, otherworldly exotica. The riddims are groovy, but Perry's greatest strength has always been his mixology. On this album, instead of his usual dub mixes full of insane rhythmic effects, Perry utilizes the voice as his primary instrument of dub: laid-back toasting, singing, mumbling, and gospel backups come in and out, crisscrossing and swirling, truly setting a new mark. In 2003 it won the Grammy award for Best Reggae Album. Jamaican E.T. is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on gold-colored, 180-gram audiophile vinyl."

LP version. Orange and black vinyl. "Renowned agent and jazz pioneer Wim Wigt founded Timeless Records in 1975. This Dutch record label has specialized in bebop, although it also did a sub-series of releases of Dixieland, swing and classical recordings. As of today, Timeless Records has, together with its three sub-labels, released over 900 albums. Notable releases include Dizzy Gillespie Meets Phil Woods Quintet, McCoy Tyner's Bon Voyage, Lou Donaldson's Forgotten Man, Eastern Rebellion and albums by the George Adams-Don Pullen Quartet, Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and many more. To celebrate the legacy of Wim Wigt's Timeless Records, Music On Vinyl is releasing a 45th anniversary jazz series. The series features albums that are part of the Timeless Records legacy and will be released throughout 2021/2022. Pharoah Sanders possesses one of the most distinctive tenor saxophone sounds in jazz, which has earned him royal status amongst free jazz players, critics and collectors. Harmonically rich and heavy with overtones, his sound can be as raw and abrasive as it is possible for a saxophonist to produce. His 1987 album Africa is soulful but also searching for a strong groove at the same time. The album is recorded with John Hicks, Curtis Lundy and Idris Muhammad and was an explicit tribute to his late mentor John Coltrane, another giant of jazz. Africa by Pharoah Sanders is available on black vinyl. The album includes an insert with upcoming Timeless Records titles from the Timeless Records 45th Anniversary Jazz series. The sleeve contains liner notes by Kevin Whitehead. 180 gram black audiophile vinyl, two bonus tracks, insert, sleeve notes."

LP version. Gold and orange marbled vinyl. Restocked. "To celebrate the 45th anniversary of iconic Dutch jazz label Timeless Records, Music On Vinyl is releasing a series that features albums that are part of the Timeless Records legacy and will be released mainly throughout 2022. Part of this series is Pharoah Sanders' Moon Child from 1990, which bookended a decade of musical soul searching for Sanders. The acclaimed free jazz player is known to have a raw and abrasive sound, but reinvented himself on this album as a more traditional improviser capable of thoughtful deliberations. Moon Child is a grand old time throughout, and Sanders has never been more eminently sing-along-able as he is on its title track. The record was co-written with Horace Silver, George Gershwin and Abdullah Ibrahim and recorded with William Henderson, Stafford James, Eddie Moore and Cheikh Tidiane Fall. Moon Child is available on black vinyl."

The soul/two-step classic 'Top Of The Stairs' was written by the Songwriters Hall Of Fame duo Nicolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson. The single was released as a promo and commercial 7" single and became a massive hit in the UK soul scene. The album also contains other great soul, disco and boogie tracks by the duo, such as the cover of Harold Melvin's 'You Know How To Make Me Feel So Good', 'Please Don't Break My Heart' and 'Do You Wanna Dance'. Red vinyl. "The Marshall Suite is the 1999 album by The Fall. The album builds on the techno-influenced beats of its predecessor Levitate, while also returning to a more rockabilly-influenced sound reminiscent of earlier Fall line-ups with songs such as the catchy 'Touch Sensitive' and the strange, complex, thumping jungle beats of 'The Crying Marshal'. The Marshall Suite was made immediately after an American tour during which Mark E. Smith had an onstage fight with members of the band and was arrested following ongoing altercations at the hotel at which the group were staying. While the remaining band members quit and returned to England, leaving Smith in a cell in Manhattan, Julia Nagle chose to stay in the band, helping to assemble the group's new line-up. During the recording of the album, this new line-up was still taking shape and the album features two different bassists. None the less it was very well-received album at the time and highly collectible by now. The Marshall Suite is now available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on translucent red colored vinyl. It features 3 sides of music and a blank D-side."

"Demon Fuzz was an Afro-rock group of which its members had all immigrated to Britain from Commonwealth countries. Released in 1970 as the band's only album, the extraordinary Afreaka!, demonstrates their excellence in playing psychedelic soul, dub-heavy funk, progressive rock, Afro-jazz and Black acid rock. Demon Fuzz these days are amongst the most bootlegged and sampled bands from the early '70s British underground. It was a Billboard '4-STAR' selection in June 1971. The band's name means 'devil's children or bad policemen'. "The Sixties were a golden age for Jamaican vocal trios. During the latter half of this incredibly creative decade, a multitude of harmony groups made their mark on the island's music scene, but of these only a relative few possessed the talent and determination to endure beyond the rock steady era. One trio that not only succeeded, but blossomed following the onset of reggae, is The Pioneers, who in 1969 became one of the first Jamaican acts to achieve international success with their UK hit, 'Long Shot (Kick De Bucket)'. The success of the single was swiftly followed by what became one of Trojan's biggest selling long players of all time, the aptly titled Long Shot. Showcasing a dozen of the group's best-known works to date for one of reggae's earliest and most successful producers Leslie Kong, the LP features a number of Jamaican hits, including 'Samfie Man' and 'Black Bud', as well as the best-selling title track.
