With 2 UR remixes! "The tracks from the recently-released full-length of Nublu Orchestra beg for remixes, and the Underground Resistance militiamen take up the task for Sketches of NYC. The 'I-80 Mix' is a big-room thumper, using a scatted vocal line and dissonant horn hits from the original to add drama to the build of an acid bass line and some tastefully tribal drums. The 'Seventh Tunnel Mix' falls squarely in the tech-jazz genre that was essentially invented by the Detroit collective. The original elements of 'Sketches' are used generously, with what seems like a grace note on the upright being turned into a looped bass line, over which the lead vocals and saxophone ping back and forth. Must-have!!"

"'Swing Swing' is the single from Ilhan Ersahin's newest incarnation of Wax Poetic on Copenhagen, the first part in a three-part series of records from the Nublu founder and bandleader. Copenhagen has a more singular approach than earlier Wax Poetic albums, with vocalist Marla Turner as the main focus of the record and a subdued Northern European energy creeping through the rocky, Garbage-esque tracks. 'Swing Swing' appears in only remixed formats on the 12" in addition to a beefed up, surprisingly Detroit-like, organic techno version of 'Beauty' by Brazilian Girls. Mazza's take on the title track is an almost self-remix, with Thor Madsen aka Mazza -- one of the major contributors to Copenhagen -- twisting it into a dark, bassy track that sneaks out of left field and into full-on head nod territory. Tyrrell's remix is the hand-raiser of the lot, turning Marla Turner's vocals into an anthem and building the track into the perfect blend of classic house and modern electro."
