The Possé are a new face to many people. The five piece run by Andrew Elston and Ross Ferraro is comprised of veterans from all over Australia's music scene. They've boiled down their favorite influences into a raw, funked-out live show and production team. Watch out for The Posse's debut EP, Our Thing, featuring contributions from Andrew Elston Ross Ferraro and Jarrol Renaud (The Goods), Michael Di Francesco (Touch Sensitive/Van She), and NZ jazz keys prodigy Andrew Bruce. "an incredible, funked-out live show and production team with their own modern take on boogie, Philly soul, and NY disco." --XLR8R

Donny Benét - Man of the people, wielder of synths, virtuosic in style, both aural and visual. Sydney's undisputed master of conduction through seduction. One slap of the bass and the world melts at his feet. One outrageous synth solo after the other and the competition falls around him. Donny Benét make his Plastic World debut with Working Out. "Working Out" is a tune takes the trademark sound that Donny has spent years mastering. The same dripping bass and suggestive synths, but now they are framed behind driving four-four drum machine kicks. Features a remix by Francis Inferno Orchestra.

Sydney-based producer Thomas William has been active since the early 2000s, inspiring such artists as Seekae, Cliques, and Cassius Select. This collection of rhythmic studies features Lamtech9 and Kid Kairo, who both regularly attend Lion Mountain Studio, a community recording space for young people in Sydney's Sierra Leonean community where William volunteers. Chun Yin (aka Rainbow Chan) contributes vocals to "Tuition," a track that reflects William's interest in testing aesthetic standards; in his words, "how far can you go with just a minor triad, or a straight arpeggio, or a few tuned drum sounds? Can you undercut and reclaim musical clichés?"

Hugo Frederick has been bubbling under the surface of Melbourne's incredibly strong electronic scene for years; his debut EP, Skin, soars in on an intricate combination of whirling ambient undercurrents and classic '90s house pianos. "Skin" is a textural piece tied together with classic keys and the introduction of a fierce kick drum halfway through. "Remote" draws the listener back in with a more subdued affair, enticing with wondering synths and inclusive vocals and culminating in a perfect release. The hypnotic "Stripped" and the shuffling "Hexagonia" prove that Frederick can shift his focus away from 4/4 rhythms while maintaining the intuitive groove.

Sydney, Australia-based label Plastic World (GL, Tuff Sherm) presents Eternal, the debut 12" from Perth-based trio Savoir. Front-woman Mei Swan's evocative vocals are set to textured, groove-laden production from James Ireland and Andrew Sinclair, making for a heady potion of catalytic rhythm and arresting melody. "Malala," an earworm chant, rides on a deep afro-beat house groove and dense percussion, while coming off feather-light and agile. "Eternal" channels specters of hip-hop and lounge through a smoky after-hours slow dance, the wall-rattling kick drum offset against trembling exotic melody. Includes Adesse Versions's essential house remix and Harvey Sutherland's slow, deep forest remix.

GL are Melbourne's cosmic-funk revivalists and the soundtrack to eternal leisure. Cruising on glowing synths, gritty drum-machines, and stratospheric vocals, GL's music is a cosmic dream-sequence not unlike a lost reel from the mid-'80s. The duo's debut EP Love Hexagon introduces their pulsating sound with lead singles "Won't You See" and "What Happened to Us" plus remix treatment from Detroit's house don Terrence Parker. It's a salacious introduction to GL's romantic hedonism, and just a taste of what's expected in the future. Experience the sound of cruise control, dive bars, strobe lights and tape decks with GL.

Newly-born Retiree recently kicked its way through the musical birth sac and into Sydney's live scene, with a spate of vitalizing performances. Tori Holleman, Ryan Powderly, Marco Vella, and Matt Crowley have consistently presented an evolving repertoire of artful tracks to thirsty ears. Dance record commissars, Suzanne Kraft (Running Back Records) and Andras Fox (Home Loan Records), have leapt with uncommon keenness at the offer to remix. It is likely that this EP will give listeners a refreshing emulsion of dancefloor cadence and tempered vibrancy -- something not seen all that often on debut releases.

Alba (formerly Albatross), have combined an immaculate eye for detail and warmth with their brand-new release, Knokke/Law. A-side "Knokke" comes out strong with the dogged drive of 909 hats and kick, over deep, ominous noise and re-pitched vocals. "Law" treads in similar territory with its percussive rustles and scrapes, which build into a melodic, arpeggiated corker. The EP features remixes from two of Detroit's finest: Rick Wade and Jimmy Edgar.
