2001 release. Created amidst the cultural boom that followed Zimbabwe's independence, the music that the Bhundu Boys recorded at Shed Studios in Harare between 1982 and 1986 was African dance pop, irresistibly powered by drums, guitars, voices and youthful high spirits. On the strength of these records, the Boys toured Europe and North America in the late '80s, winning new fans with their exuberant shows wherever they went, and were signed to a major international label. But their subsequent albums were disappointing, and the group was undone by unrealistic expectations, poor decisions and illness. The Shed Sessions - all of the sessions collected in this annotated 2CD set - remain the best testament of what a great band the Bhundu Boys had been.
