SPECTRAL SOUND (...) 5 Titles
Created in 2000 as a dancefloor-oriented counterpart to Ghostly's cerebral avant-pop releases, Spectral Sound began as an outlet for DJ singles from then-unknowns like Matthew Dear with a focus on moody, leftfield techno and house. Other chief artists include Osborne, James T. Cotton, and Hieroglyphic Being, whose various singles and EPs have proven the importance and vitality of the American techno scene. Spectral has also become a force internationally, having worked with such notable figures as Reinhard Voigt (Kompakt), Pantytec (Perlon), Håkan Lidbo, and Roman Flügel. With diverse, genre-bending releases and a fuck-the-scene ethos, Spectral strives to find the perfect balance between retro and future, high art and club culture. The first full-length on Spectral was Matthew Dear's Leave Luck To Heaven, issued in late 2003. Met with worldwide glowing press, that release paved the way for more albums from Dear and James T. Cotton, as well as the landmark Spectral Sound Vol. 1 compilation, the label's 25th release.
