"During the '60s and '70s, like a volcano spewing out red hot lava, the American music scene churned out some of the most creative artists the world had yet to hear. Musical entrepreneurs sprung up like wildflowers during a spring rain. Together with the talented musicians they brought with them they were the architects of a new sound. Notable among these early entrepreneurs was Hadley Murrell. His gift for discovering and nurturing new talent became legendary. Combined with leadership, songwriting ability, production skills, a remarkable ear for for a hit song, and a knack for developing great songwriters and arrangers and artist, Hadley brought us some of the finest and most exciting music of the era. Get your head ready for Hadley Murrell and the Sultans of Soul." Hardback mini-book style packaging.

"To underground DJs and other discriminating urban hipsters, Freddi/Henchi and The Soulsetters are well-known as 'The Prophets of Funk' responsible for their all-time classic Dance album full of infectious early 1970s monsters. In Colorado, frontmen "Freddi Love" Gowdy and 'Henchi' Graves earned over three decades a reputation as an indefatigable, Boulder-based musical party act popular on the state's college circuit. But the roots of Freddi and Henchi actually stretch back to the desert city of Phoenix, Arizona, in the mid 1960s. It was there that group members first established their exciting stage presence through live shows at long-gone local night clubs. And under the guidance of producer Hadley Murrell, they created their fun-loving recording identity as the good humored Crown Princes of Funk. This historic package hopes to help make sense of the sometimes confusing Freddi/Henchi/Soulsetters back catalogue, which between 1964 and 1975 included records on multiple labels under varying names and with assorted spellings." Gatefold mini-LP style packaging with 6-page insert. CD includes bonus video content.

"In the annals of soul music, few names command the majesty and the mystery of The Servicemen, the four-part R'n'B vocal group based at Luke Air Force Base west of Phoenix, Arizona, who recorded several flawless sides in 1966 and 1967 before dispersing to points unknown. Today, the handful of properly released Servicemen songs such as 'Are You Angry,' 'I Need a Helping Hand' and 'My Turn' are acknowledged internationally as all-time classics, particularly among England's 'Northern Soul' enthusiasts. But it took years for those obscure records, which scarcely attracted any attention at the time but are now worth hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to hardcore collectors, to earn their reputation and percolate to the top of music lovers' want lists. With every spin at a soul all-nighter, every sky-high bid in a rare record auction, and every unauthorized bootleg repressing, the Servicemen's legend grew. This CD release aims to fully satisfy the Servicemen's fans' appetite, presenting the public with the most complete musical portrait of the group to date. Details about the group's personnel remain frustratingly elusive, but for the first time their revelatory a cappella audition for producer Hadley Murrell and other powerful lost tracks from the vaults are accessible by the masses." Mini-LP style gatefold packaging.
