Jambalaya present 14 tracks from the American outsider and legend, Hasil Adkins, titled Chicken Walk. Hasil Adkins was a true American original. Raised in Boone County, West Virginia, the son of a coal miner, Adkins grew up in poverty in a tarpaper shack on coal company property, where he taught himself to play after hearing Hank Williams on the radio. The legend goes that he didn't realize Hank had a band backing him up, and that's why Hasil learned to play guitar and drums at the same time. Adkins wrote tons of amazing original material beginning in the 1950s, which "explored an affinity for chicken, sexual intercourse, and decapitation." (Wikipedia). A great collection of those original recordings is presented here.

"Near the end of his life, Hasil Adkins met Amy Krueger. They fell in love. Hasil wrote a bunch of songs for Amy, and recorded them at home in West Virginia. He sent them to Amy. Amy promised him that they would get released someday. It took a while after Hasil's death before Amy felt emotionally equipped to deal with the project but here, at last, is the album. This is Hasil at his most soulful and tender, like you have never heard him before. You think you know Hasil Adkins, but you might be wrong. Includes a 24 page full color illustrated book by Amy Krueger. Old school 'tip on' cover."

The purest, truest voice in country music alive today. Great liners on this and Peanut Butter Rock & Roll by demented scribe king Nick Tosches!"
