Born in Spanish Harlem to Puerto Rican immigrants, Louis Antonio Castro was inspired by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, and even Argentinean tango singers. He released a few 45s -- the most notable being the unmistakable "W.E.L.F.A.R.E." on his own Universal International label. Recorded sometime around 1970, this rare and highly sought-after 45 is in great demand from both funksters after something a bit more heartrending, and soulies who want something a bit more rhythmical.
