"Never underestimate the power of pathetic. Famous in Reykjavik city for their powerful live shows, alcoholic lifestyle and heartfelt honest country music, it all started when two guys Raggi and Doddi, usually doing instrumental electro music got together on cold winter nights, drank some port and started singing the blues. They found something basic and honest to write about and then it became inevitable to form a band, so they called their friends and decided to record their first session in some small cabin out in the countryside. The result was quite amazing. So during two weekends in this small cabin under a cracking glacier, they recorded the album Pathetic Me. The recordings were recorded onto a simple old two track tape machine and while listening to the album you can easily imagine being there with them. Their music is a combination of slow & tragic country tunes and broken hearts ballads, mixed with some Icelandic drinking songs. The members of The Funerals work in very different projects such as filmmaking, theater, art exhibitions, recording & producing music, and architecture, and are associated with bands such as Trabant, Kanada, Singapore Sling, Apparat Organ Quartet, Quarashi and more."
