TURBO 191EP
|
When Steve Lawler first sent Turbo Recordings "Crazy Dream", he told them that he had made the record "specifically with Turbo in mind." For the remixes, Turbo Recordings took a track made especially for them and enlisted a diverse cast of Turbo all-stars to spin it into a release for everyone, a proprietary practice they call "Human Alchemy: The Future of Generosity". Finland's Jori Hulkkonen, Belgium's Charlotte de Witte, and Argentina's DJs Pareja trace a beautiful global triangle for lovers of acid bangers, stripped-down techno, and tripped-out weirdness, respectively.

Objektivity presents the debut of its sub-label OBJ Analogue, dedicated to hardware-based music made without plug-ins. Objektivity head Dennis Ferrer: "The OBJ Analogue is a special project for me and is dear to my heart because I love analogue gear, vinyl, and hardware, so I keep that side of me happy." Steve Lawler delivers the rough Inna State/Recuperate, produced with Roland 808, 909, and 606 drum machines. Basslines made with a Moog Voyager and the piano on "Recuperate" comes from an E-mu Orchestra rack mount. Completely analog! Limited vinyl release.

"Steve Lawler is a definitive DJ and producer, renowned as one of the world's premier and most respected talents. From his legendary residencies We Love and VIVA at Space in Ibiza to Viva Harlem Nights at The End in London, and his Lights Out and VIVA tours of North America, Lawler is one of the most powerful touring names in electronic music. He hasn't had over 500,000 plays for his music on Myspace for nothing! Steve Lawler was once hailed the pioneer of twisted house, but his sound has evolved through the years although the main elements still remain, meandering through deep, dark, sexy house tracks. 'Sleepwalking' marks his debut single for Tsuba, following the hugely successful 'Courses For Horses' on Renaissance. Part 1 -- The first 12" serves up the killer remixes for the Tsuba faithful. Will Saul & Tam Cooper's mix is deep, sexy & driving house music and one of their best mixes to date. Following his own Jaguar Shoes single label boss Kevin Griffiths steps up with a deeper, tripped-out mix with a killer groove for the afterhours."
