You probably heard it before, several times. The opening number "Hungry, So Angry" is to be considered one of the most infectious white funk anthem of the era. The Glitterhouse was released in 1981 on British imprint Cherry Red and soon was hailed as an instant classic for the post-punk generation close to dancefloor. In the same league of A Certain Ratio and New Yorkers Bush Tetras the band originally from Nottingham moved behind obscure numbers and twisted grooves showing a revolutionary take on the up-and-coming new wave scenario. Here's an unmissable collection with tracks from their three singles, sole studio album, live recordings but also unreleased tracks from an October 1982 demo tape. Fully remastered and licensed, limited to 500 copies; 180 gram vinyl.

Expanded reissue of Medium Medium's debut album, The Glitterhouse, originally released on Cherry Red in October 1981. Formed at the end of 1978, Medium Medium's self-described "extreme dance music" had reviewers scrambling to draw comparisons with the band's contemporaries and find a label for its post punk sound. Medium Medium's solid dance rhythms and chaotic, chiming guitar were superficially reminiscent of the Gang Of Four and Talking Heads, but Rees's tangential sax playing and Graham's tape and keyboard interjections from the front-of-house mixing desk, took Medium Medium in another direction. "Free-blown dubbed-up white funk" was how Max Bell described the sound in England's New Musical Express (NME). "At the forefront of the post punk funk movement," raved Cashbox. The U.S. Billboard magazine opined that this was "post punk and post disco dance music." After the initial release of The Glitterhouse, In Sound International magazine Dave Henderson wrote prophetically, "It could be one of the most important records of the type to emerge this year and will doubtlessly be revered as a classic after the group have long since departed." This reissue also features the "Hungry, So Angry" single version which was produced by Adrian Sherwood at Berry Street Studio in London. Also included is a selection of tracks from Cherry Red's 2001 Hungry, So Angry retrospective compilation album, the B-side of the band's debut single on Apt (1979), and a previously unreleased demo version of a song from the 1982 Sound-Products EP, Splendid Isolation. It includes a bonus EP featuring previously unreleased tracks from the 2008 Village recording session. All of the various lineups of Medium Medium are represented. Color vinyl; Gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves.

"Medium Medium were originally signed to Cherry Red in 1981 and were one of the first signings of then A&R man Mike Alway. The band's first single, Hungry, So Angry caused quite an immediate stir at club and alternative radio level, and created quite a buzz around the band. The single was picked up by alternative radio in the U.S. and featured for several weeks in the Billboard Alternative Top 50 chart. The band recorded one album for Cherry Red, The Glitterhouse which received consistently good reviews. However, the band broke up in 1983 but were not forgotten as 'Hungry, So Angry' has been used on many compilation CDs over the years, especially in the U.S. This overdue CD re-press consists of 15 tracks and also includes the very rare promo video of 'Hungry, So Angry; as an enhanced track."
