2009 release. The name Minus 8 stands for downtempo music. Is downtempo coming back? In contrast to the tempo delusion of DJs and the hectic life changes, the answer is yes. Minus 8 always was a part of it.: warm, jazzy sounds, organic rhythms, smart vocals and sometimes even a little bit of funkiness. As a DJ, Minus 8 has been around in genres like hip hop, drum & bass, latin, funk and jazz. All this experience was used in the process of working on Slow Motion, the most grown up album in his career. Even though the tempo increases from time to time towards the end of the album Minus 8 did not add just another club tune for the sake of it. The Swiss producer never loses himself in arbitrariness. Instead he integrates it consistently in his overall trademark sound. The Minus 8 sound definitely has rough edges which stand out in a disarming vacuity.
