2001 release. The project is the brainchild of Enrico Pieranunzi, a sort of tribute to compositions of the brilliant American pianist, Bill Evans, in the compass of its existence. It takes shape and form from a successful book about Evans written by Pieranunzi, which Alternative Press republished in a beautiful edition accompanied by a compact disc. The operation conducted by Pieranunzi turns out to be a rethinking of expressive parameters rather than a simple reading of them: the eye of an artist on the work of another artist, able to highlight the implicit consonance and the inevitable fractures. Into this game of subtle reflections there sneaks a vibrant music, which offers accurate emotional watermarks: a small miracle expression of balance and wisdom, but sunny and shady, fierce and tender, oxymoronic as the man who glimpsed Evans, between the notes, backlit.
