Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. "One of the first 'sound spectaculars' RCA Victor issued was this historic recording by Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra of Richard Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra. Released in 1954, it was widely acclaimed as a triumph of art and science. Also sprach Zarathustra, with the subtitle 'Freely composed after Friederich Nietzsche,' was first written and performed in 1896, intended as his homage to the genius of Nietzsche, which found its greatest exemplification in his book, Thus Spake Zarathustra. Of the performance and Fritz Reiner's conducting, immortalized here on this LP, The Chicago Tribune wrote: 'when he stands...with a Strauss score incandescent at his fingertips, no wise man stays at home.'" Remastered and pressed on 180 gram audiophile DMM HQ virgin vinyl, 45 rpm.
