On Optical Delusions, Warlung found a middle ground between the classic horror theme of the first album (HPS 138CD/LP/LTD-LP/S-LP) and the rock n' roll aspect of the second (HPS 139CD/LP/LTD-LP/S-LP). Warlung continued to experiment with song structures and changing tempos to keep the music dynamic and interesting.
