This CD is a co-release from Via Veneto Jazz and Jando Music. Renowned Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi's album My songbook will surely surprise his long-time fans, revealing Pieranunzi as an ingenious songwriter with a deft technique and a restless imagination. The album contains 11 of Pieranunzi's own compositions, music, and lyrics, which flow effortlessly thanks to acclaimed vocalist Simona Severini, with whom Pieranunzi has been collaborating since 2012. The compositions are artfully arranged by Pieranunzi in formations ranging from duo to sextet; Severini's expressive voice brings a wonderful sensibility to the music, while the arrangements' astonishing range of expression shows off the quality of the musicians involved, including some of Italy's best-known jazz players (Luca Bulgarelli and Nicola Angelucci, as well as guests Rosario Giuliani and Francesco Lento).
