2021 restock.. Charly Records present a reissue of the compilation Epitaph For A Legend, originally released in 1980. Formed in Austin, Texas in 1965, the International Artists label is best known for the 13th Floor Elevators' hit singles and seminal albums, but the label also released a series of ground-breaking records from such highly-regarded artists as The Red Crayola, Lost & Found, and The Golden Dawn. The label's success largely came down to the efforts of Lelan Rogers, brother of the country star Kenny. Under Rogers's guidance the label embraced the revolutionary new psychedelic sound that was emerging from Texas. Epitaph For A Legend is a collection of rarities from the label's catalogue which Rogers put together in 1980 for a double vinyl release. This enhanced deluxe reissue of the album features in its gatefold inner extensive new notes from The Mole, of Shindig Magazine. Jon Savage (MOJO) has written a new introduction to his fascinating interview with Lelan Rogers from the original release which now appears as a separate insert. Direct metal mastering. Features The Chayns, The Patterns, The Chapparels, Thursday's Children, The Rubayyat, Sonny Hall, Inner Scene, The Red Crayola, The Emperors, Lost And Found, Big Walter, Dave Allen, Lightnin' Hopkins, Roky Erickson, The Spades, Roky & Clementine Hall, and The 13th Floor Elevators. 180 gram vinyl; gatefold sleeve.
