"Bass music producer from Tokyo, ENA is a major player of the Japanese underground dubstep and drum & bass scenes for more than a decade. Taking influences from early drum & bass productions, rave sound and Abstract Hip Hop, quoting names such as Photek, Krush, Source Direct and Renegade Hardware, ENA is recognized for his tight production technique and massive audio dynamics, as well as for his Djing selection and technical quality. ENA's 12" on 7even Recordings is the third of the Tokyo's producer for the label in two years. Rare, ENA's productions always impress by their uniqueness and high level of studio technique. 'Purported' and 'Whereabouts' are two dark pieces of electronic music, and have now become classic tracks on the Japanese underground scene. Limited to 300 copies."

7even Recordings is proud to present the debut album from French electronic music explorer Helixir. Back in his early days, Kevin Martin aka Helixir was affected by his first strong musical experiences listening to Frank Zappa, AFX, Quasimoto and Plastikman. A drummer, bassist and guitarist, in 1997 he founded the experimental jazz rock combo Maelstrom, and soon became interested in working on sound montage on a Tascam mag-tape. Kevin also discovered the computer universe and started to explore new possibilities for his music. A new world appeared, a natural extension of the instrumental world, where Kevin could experiment with many new techniques to blend seamlessly and creatively. Kevin cuts, pastes and distorts notes, beats, waves, genres and effects. He explores these concepts further also as part of Strasbourg's Sens Inverse Crew, playing live at parties in the east of France and in Germany. Recognized for the quality and versatility of these productions, his style is impossible to label -- it is known simply as the "Helixir" style. A master of programming, sound mixing, bass science and EQ, Kevin always surprises and never does the same thing twice. Just listen to his four prior 12"s on 7even Recordings and you'll find different tempos and genres at work: dub, breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass, indo and techno flavors. Mala, Untold, Mary Anne Hobbs, 2562, F, Ramadanman and Brendon Moeller all support his music. With Undivided, Helixir takes us on board for a deep sonic exploration. This album is not a mere compilation of tracks: this is a story, a musical trip, a vehicle to bring you somewhere else altogether. Press play and let yourself be transported. Two tracks are exclusive to this CD.

Here is a taste of the debut album from French electronic music explorer, Helixir. This is a strictly-limited 12" release and features an exclusive club-ready remix in fine style from Millie, moonlighting from his work for the Daphne label. This remix is vinyl-only and exclusive to this release -- no digital issue. Warmly recommended.

"Splendor In The Grass" builds sheer beatdown vibes over a cannily-deployed half-speed drum and bass simply tailor-made for dBridge fans. Gently add a skweezed synth at 1:30 and some emotive strings before some covert riffage turns this into a full-on main room joint. "115 State" picks it up on a revived electro tip, slightly cagier with dubbed-out, delayed figures across a smart Detroit transphixion. DJ support from Mary Ann Hobbs, Laurent Garnier, Marcel Dettmann, and many more.

Likhan offers two of his best dub house/dubbage cuts for the 7Even crew. Blending house and garage flavors into massive bass lines and dub skanks, delays and echoes, "Boxin" and "Boston" are unique tracks, and as usual with Likhan, impossible to label. The London players have already adopted them for their turntables: T.Williams and Don Morris from Deep Teknologi, DJ IC and Slackk are currently rinsing these tracks at their shows and on Rinse FM.

F is the alter ego of French producer and DJ Florent Aupetit. Florent discovered drum and bass as a teenager, an early enthusiasm which pushed him straight out to buy records and a pair of decks. Slowly after this, he set foot on the production path, and began making drum and bass tracks using Fruity Loops. He began to develop a passion for and deepen an interest in the emergent style of UK underground music called dubstep, and eventually started producing dubstep tracks in 2008. His growing love for techno, and other minimal forms of dub led him to combine elements of both styles with stunning results. French dubstep pioneer and 7even Recordings label-head Greg Gouty was immediately captivated by the impeccable levels of production and fresh beats streaming from this talented newcomer. Following a succession of now sold-out 12"s for 7even, F's drops have time and time again grabbed attention from all the major players -- Appleblim, Pinch, Martyn, Scuba, Headhunter, Joe Nice, Peverelist, Untold, Ramadanman are all rinsin' the dubplates. In a little over two years, F has established himself as a pioneering force in new and emerging bass music. Traversing different worlds, atmospheres and vibes, Energy Distortion features much sought-after unreleased tracks ("0907," "Poka," "On The Corner," and "Hologram") and brand new material ("See The Light," "Chillin'," "Perspective"). The album has been beautifully cut and loudly mastered by Shawn Joseph and Jacko Adams at Optimum Studios in Bristol.

7EVEN 011EP
|
Second release by Helixir on 7even Recordings. Recognized as one of the most versatile of the new breed of French electronic music producers, the man from Strasbourg presents two bass-heavy productions in his own percussive style. "Convultions" is a real dancefloor weapon -- the robotic riddim subtly brings a deep sub-bass that becomes more and more insistent. "Let Me Drive Now" brings us through magical percussion, galactic synths and smoky atmospheres. Beautifully and tightly produced.

F has made huge waves on the scene with his unique sculpted approach to dubstep and techno. Dub techno styled A-side "Epilogue"'s clean production and atmospheric textures create the backdrop for a distant beat which drills into the psyche. On the B-side, Ramadanman weighs in with a rework which absolutely slays. You could call it garage, you could call it dub-tech, but this track is so fresh, we're sure it'll have the funky house heads on their hands and knees.

The return of the mysterious F on 7even Recordings! "The Untitled Dub" is a melancholic yet melodic track, fusing dub chords with filtered horns and groovy drum patterns. This track has been on the biggest DJs decks, including Appleblim, Ramadanman, 2562 and Peverelist. The journey continues with the minimal darkness of "Phantom" on the flip, a dubby progressive number built on a lush polyrhythmic structure underpinned with a massive surrounding subbass. A certified killer.

Helixir's back for his second 12'' on 7even Recordings! Helixir do it again with "Helicraft" and "Dub 4 P," blending all kinds of influences, from dubstep to techno, jungle, breakstep and dub, produced and executed with immense attention to detail. "Helicraft" is a mad track -- wicked beats, techno loops, old school sounds and tricky mixing potential make it a killer cut. "Dub 4 P" is a real smasher, rolling on a broken riddim and bringing the horns to the dancefloor. Killer.

Navigating easily through styles, Helixir brings us two super-heavy dub cuts, proving again his mastery of sound manipulation combined with an ear for massive hooks. "XP Dub" and "Peace Dub" offer two slabs of heavy, minimal dub tech-influenced brilliance. A 4/4 drop, ultra deep basslines and smoked-out synths all make this killer 12" an essential addition to 7even's ever impressive back catalogue. Helixir just cannot fail to impress.

Likhan's back for his third twelve on 7even Recordings. "Redlight" and "Quiet Riot" blend massive two-step and dubstep rhythms with incredible sonic techno and dub sounds and effects. Once again Likhan provides a unique sound and musical approach with impeccable production and unfussy arrangements. Try to put a name on it, call it what you want or simply let the music speak!
