Branko, the Portuguese producer and Enchufada label owner, announced his fourth solo album Soma. The project pushes the maintained standard for over a decade in shaping the expression of electronic global music to greater heights. The producer started the creative process with a three-day jam session in Lisbon, with local musicians, over a framework of multiple beats, later recomposed as a repository of grooves that served as the blueprint for the album's instrumental. Branko's artistic vision for Soma is grounded in authenticity and the expression of local and global talent. He has collaborated not only with critical Lisbon-based musicians, but also with vocalists from London, Cape Verde, and Brazil, including Jay Prince, June Freedom, BIAB, and Tuyo. Lisboa never sounded so good. Soma see's Branko evolving his production process by incorporating some of the cities' most relevant musicians alongside a large array of global vocal guests. The twelve tracks feature collaborations with artists such as London-based Jay Prince and Angolan-Portuguese musician Carla Prata, Cape Verdean American artist June Freedom, Rio de Janeiro-based artist BIAB, Portuguese singer Teresa Salgueiro, Brazilian band Tuyo, Lisbon-based Dino d'Santiago, Ghanaian music producer Gafacci, London-based Ghanaian rapper and vocalist Bryte, Sintra's singers Yeri & Yeni, and Carlão, the frontman of Almada's band Da Weasel. Branko achieved widespread recognition thanks to his continuous output of new music and his ability to turn his ideas into reality. As an artist, his three solo albums played a crucial role in showcasing his unique musical identity and vision, aided by iconic live performances. He also founded Buraka Som Sistema and Enchufada, forces that still shape the expression of electronic music today. RIYL: Pongo, Buraka Som Sistema, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Nicola Cruz, Sango, Chanca Via Circuito.

Buraka Som Sistema co-founder and Enchufada label-head Branko presents OBG, his third album. The artist's most personal and reflective work to date, it's a letter of love and thanks to the community around him, to Portugal's breathtaking landscapes, and to the syncopated, window-rattling rhythms that emanate from the clubs and car stereos of Portuguese cities. As a musician, DJ, label curator and promoter, few have been as pivotal as Branko (aka João Barbosa) in bringing the sound of underground Portuguese electronic music to a global audience. Since his formative years growing up in the city of Amadora on the fringes of Lisbon, Barbosa dedicated his career to elevating the unique club music hybrids -- mutations of kuduro, kizomba, zouk, baile funk and more -- that were spreading in the communities around him. Branko initially achieved success as part of the collective Buraka Som Sistema, before beginning a career as a solo artist and releasing two LP's, Atlas (ENLP 073LP, 2015) and Nosso (ENLP 102LP, 2019). But Barbosa's creative output is just one side of his work. As a curator Branko launched the Lisbon festival Enchufada Na Zonain 2019 and in 2022 will curate a stage at the first Sonar Lisboa. Through his label, Enchufada, he works tirelessly to raise the profile of up and comers from Lisbon and the global Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) diaspora. OBG is an album of organic textures and inviting rhythms, created in Branko's signature style, and inspired in part by a series of outdoor DJ-sets performed and streamed from beautiful locations across his native country. Opener "SRA" starts with a beckoning vocal, wasting little time setting the tone with warm piano chords and a low-slung, kizomba-esque beat. On the brooding "ETA", written with Portuguese beatmaker Fumaxa, subtle sliding bass tones underpin a brooding, colorful arrangement. Features Ms Mavy, Fumaxa, Iúri Oliveira, Traz Águá, and Éllàh. For fans of: Buraka Som Sistema, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Sango, Quantic.

After more than a decade at the forefront of the global club music scene with several celebrated albums and EPs under their belt, Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue's seminal 2014 Enchufada EP Serpiente Dorada is still one of the most impactful of their exciting career. Capturing the vitality of their early genre-defining work, where the traditional and hypnotic rhythms of cumbia were modernized through a collage of electronic music styles, Serpiente Dorada is still at the top of their most played music on streaming platforms to this day, and has motivated their fanbase to continuously demand a physical edition since its initial digital release. The wait is finally over as in 2021, just as the band completed ten years of activity, Enchufaded press a beautiful 12" vinyl, freshly remastered for vinyl to give this essential release the quality it deserves. Serpiente Dorada remains an absolutely infectious and colorful mixture of global sounds, where genres and styles are used as a starting point on their ongoing hybrid exploration of the interaction between traditional Latin American music and modern electronic music, where the total is much more than the sum of its parts.

Some bands can go on hiatus, but Buraka is 4 Ever. With numerous studio albums, singles and mixtapes, which have solidified their revolutionary role in forever changing the Portuguese music scene, what their numerous enduring followers remember most vividly is their explosive and unmistakeable high-energy live show. Ina time where those live experiences seem so distant from our present reality, it seemed all the more important to relive those moments of celebration where Buraka Som Sistema's music truly came alive: on a massive stage in front of thousands of fans. For the fifth anniversary of Buraka Som Sistema's 2016 farewell show in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal -- and the 15th anniversary of their debut EP -- Enchufada are celebrating this important milestone by releasing Buraka 4 Ever, an album created from the recordings of this legendary concert where the band's most iconic songs were last performed in front of a roaring live audience. Scene anthems such as "Kalemba", "Sound of Kuduro" or "Hangover (Bababa)", recorded live in 2016, were pieced back together in the studio and remastered to recreate the unforgettable live experience of a Buraka Som Sistema concert, now available as a live album in a gatefold 12" vinyl edition. To make it an even more exclusive experience, the vinyl edition also includes a reissue of the band's first ever promotional 7" record, featuring the classic tracks "Yah!" and "Sem Makas" on purple vinyl.

Roughly translated from Portuguese, Na Zona means something like being in a specific place, occupying a zone and owning it -- a fitting metaphor for Branko's career as a DJ and producer exploring the global side of club music. But what happens when you can no longer occupy physical spaces to create a shared experience around club music... Enter Volume 2 of our Branko Presents: Enchufada Na Zona compilation series, where following the release of his sophomore album Nosso (ENLP 102LP), the Enchufada founder curates a selection of original music from himself and some of his favourite artists, as well as a series of his own edits and remixes, all created during quarantine from home studios in Lisbon, Accra, São Paulo, London, or Paris. With the club seeming like a distant memory, Branko puts forward a collection of songs more fitting to the times we live in and the physical space we get to enjoy them at: home. Alongside new music from the likes of Dengue Dengue Dengue, Studio Bros, or Vanyfox, as well as his edits and remixes for artists such as Dino D'Santiago, DKVPZ, or Gafacci, Branko presents a more melodic and introspective take on the always-evolving and warm-blooded rhythms of global club music, a product of every artist's shared experience of creating and enjoying music in isolation. Also features Ellah, Rose Juam, Hagan, and Lua Preta. Edition of 300.

Fast-rising Lisbon-based DJ/producer Pedro has shared details of his long-awaited debut album, Da Linha, which will be released via Enchufada. First teased with the release of bubbling lead single "Calores" in January of 2019, Da Linha crowns a defining breakthrough three years for Pedro that has seen him establish himself as one of Portugal's most vibrant and exciting new-school producers. His debut EP, Damaia (2017) -- named after the suburb of Lisbon he was born in -- immediately signposted a bright, borderless club sound rooted in experimentation, which has since been best emphasized by 2019 releases including the Buraka Som Sistema-sampling "Rapazes" and a breathless collaboration with Nigerian MC, Magugu ("Too Much"), both of which feature on the LP track list. First inspired by his older brother, who would introduce Pedro to the latest electronic music coming out of Portugal, he still references DJ Rolando's "Knights Of Jaguar" as a memorable early touch point -- a record he still credits with influencing the melodies he writes to this day. Living and growing up in Damaia, Pedro also went to school with friends of Angolan, Cape Verdean, Brazilian, and Mozambican descent, exposing him to a whole patchwork of new sounds and genres like kuduro and kizomba from a very young age. With such a rich and diverse musical upbringing, it is perhaps no wonder that Da Linha is bursting with energy and color across all ten tracks, melding together the hyper-specific sounds, instruments, and voices that have sound-tracked Pedro's life so far. From the marching, militant rhythm of "Stuck On You" featuring standout Ghanaian MC, Bryte, to the silky, bubblegum vocals and gloopy, earworm melodies of closing track "Para Ti" featuring Xcelencia, you'd be hard pushed to find a debut record that captures a city so viscerally. Also features Kelman Duran, Pedro Mafama, Branko, and DKVPZ.

Dengue Dengue Dengue! continue expanding their carefully created aesthetic on Zenit & Nadir by diving into the deep and rich musical history of Afro-Peruvian music, already hinted in the first single "Ágni", which is the inversion of the traditional Afro-Peruvian rhythm, Ingá. The ongoing exploration of the vast and rich musical heritage of the descendants of the former African slaves in Peru has become the main focus of their new album. Their interest in Afro-Peruvian music has led them to meet and record extensively with several members of the Ballumbrosio family, a renowned musical dynasty in Peru that has kept Afro-Peruvian musical traditions alive, masters of rhythms like landó, festejo, and crioullo music, with traditional dances and instruments such as the iconic quijada -- a rattling percussive instrument made out of a donkey's jawbone. The introduction of live recordings with the Ballumbrosio brothers has given a whole new dimension to their always-expanding sound, and they feature extensively all throughout the album. The marriage between the traditional and organic percussion of the Ballumbrosios with DDD's hypnotic electronic production has created a whole new chapter for the band Features Kalaf, Sara Van, Mikongo, Prisma, and Martin Boder.

The first thing that strikes one when hearing Nosso is its feeling of intimacy and warmth. The title, which means "Ours" in Portuguese, is apt since Branko sees the record as the result of letting a wild variety of people into his world. João notes that "I didn't know most of the collaborators before meeting up with them in a studio somewhere in the world, so most of these songs are coming from a very immediate and honest sense of collaboration where you spend an afternoon with someone learning about each other at the same time as you're making music. It's a shared experience, a moment where two or more people came up with ideas together, that they probably wouldn't have had if they were in their comfort zone." These meetings were turned into songs at home in Lisbon once the main ideas were created collaboratively elsewhere. "On this album, like in everything else I did so far, the focus on the instrumental side of things was experimenting with rhythmic patterns and genres from the Portuguese-speaking universe while applying them to songs created with other artists from completely different backgrounds and places." There's something in this process that has left the album sounding super fresh as this is a sound without borders that pulls one in. It's music everyone can be a part of, where even the most rugged up-tempo cut sounds welcoming. It's an overwhelmingly positive and joyous experience to immerse oneself in Nosso. Branko fuses local rhythms from kizomba to baile funk and Afro-house through European electronic genres with a clear accessible pop sensibility and the aim of creating a unified sound that puts all these individual musical expressions in perspective as part of a greater whole.

Lisbon-based DJ and producer, Enchufada label head, Red Bull Music Academy alumnus and Buraka Som Sistema co-founder Branko is ready to embark on a whole new adventure. Atlas sees Branko becoming part of an international network of artists and shaping a solid body of work that feels his own, while at the same time being truly communal and global. This can be clearly felt both in the impressive number of artists who lined up to participate: over 20 collaborators across five different cities, and the hybrid nature of the music, which in true global style connects distinct geographies and musical genres to create something new for the world's dance floors. Afro-house, zouk bass, gqom or baile funk are treated as pieces of a larger puzzle, put together to create a new tropical-flavored musical picture for the digital age. After hours of work in Red Bull Studios in Amsterdam, Cape Town, New York, São Paulo and Lisbon, (documented in the Atlas Unfolded webisode series) recording vocals, laying down beats and tweaking samples, Atlas comes to life and the final list of collaborators is as long as it is culturally rich. From Mr. Carmack to Okmalumkoolkat, Mr. MFN eXquire, DJ Sliink, The Ruffest, Princess Nokia and Lewis CanCut, to name only a few, Atlas is a veritable "who's who" of the global club music scene, all handpicked by Branko to help him bring his colorful artistic vision to life. A core influence in modern Peruvian music and culture today, Afro-Peruvian styles also continue to inform the music of Dengue Dengue Dengue. This inspiration is especially prominent on the title track "Son De Los Diablos", which incorporates traditional instruments such as the cajita, but also on "Buscando", where the duo recorded with members of the Ballumbrosio family -- the prominent lineage of musicians and dancers widely regarded as leading ambassadors of Afro-Peruvian music, dance, and culture. As the band explains, the song was "a big step forward", as it was the first time the duo recorded every rhythmic element with live musicians, giving the track "the flow and cadence only live musicians can achieve", as well as a vocal sample from one of Peru's biggest stars, Lucha Reyes. The release continues with final tracks "Flootz" and "Cobre", through which Dengue Dengue Dengue further explore their own unique blend of entrancing South American and African rhythms and melodies.

One of the UK's most promising new producers is back after the release of her 2016 single Kabala, confirming FACT's expectations when they named her one of the "10 Club Producers to Watch in 2016". Inspired by her travels in Ghana, where she met and recorded with stand-out local MCs and producers Bryte, Gafacci, and Cratus, as well as the more tropical side of the UK music scene where she found Peruvian vocalist Nané and Italian producer Lorenzo BITW, Sentah is Mina's love letter to Afrobeats, dancehall, UK funk, and all kinds of syncopated rhythms. If Kabala's sunny melodies and compelling rhythms were any indication of the sheer potential of this up-and-coming producer, Sentah is here to confirm Mina's place on top of the global club music food chain, as she teams up with a host of collaborators from around the world to shape her musical vision. From the energizing beats and Spanish vocals of "Boing", featuring Nané, to the lively rhythm of the marimba-heavy title track "Sentah", the slinky hypnotizing melodies of "Ringtone Riddim", the dancefloor-focused energy of "Circles", and the slowed-down Caribbean flex of "Only", on Sentah, Mina leads the listener on a vibrant journey.

Buraka Som Sistema's J-Wow takes us on a rhythmic journey across the Hard Ass Sessions universe. A lot changed since Buraka introduced kuduro to the world. Since then, J-Wow has challenged producers from around the world to reinterpret this phenomenon, resulting in a successful compilation series called Hard Ass Sessions. The highlights of three years of digital releases were handpicked by J-Wow and compiled on CD, serving as the ultimate guide to kuduro's ever-changing universe. Taking advantage of Buraka Som Sistema's introduction of kuduro as part of the global musical landscape, J-Wow quickly understood it was meant to last. As the percussive madness imported from Luanda began informing beatmakers and producers all over the globe, people started reimagining it and giving it new forms and purposes. They cross-bred it with house, techno, dubstep and the list goes on: it became a very strong influence for producers who like to see sweaty bodies on the dancefloor. It was inevitable. J-Wow started recruiting some of his favorite producers from around the globe and challenged them to reinterpret the kuduro phenomenon in their own unique ways. Artists like Bok Bok, Douster, Seiji, Zombies For Money or Canblaster -- among many others -- heeded his call and came forth with the most eclectic, weird, crazy and awesome blend of pumped-up percussive bangers that shot the kuduro genre to outer space and back. The result was the mini-compilation series Enchufada lovingly called Hard Ass Sessions. Three years and six volumes later we bring you this full-fledged compilation, featuring J-Wow's personal favorites of the series, hand-picked to give you the best possible experience inside the Hard Ass universe. This seasoned DJ and founding member of Buraka Som Sistema selected tunes from Nic Sarno, Melé, Pocz & Pacheko, Poirier and many other members of the Hard Ass family, casting a new light on some favorite tunes from the Enchufada catalog. As an added bonus, the label has reached out to the Hungarian production duo Slap In The Bass and decided to welcome them to the family by including the previously-unreleased tune, "Tapa." Other artists include: Savage Skull & French Fries, Oliver Twizt & DJ Rockid, Kry Wolf, Kingdom, J-Wow & Toy Selectah, Wildlife and Dubbel Dutch.
