The man from Bologna makes his second appearance on Internasjonal Spesial and it storms right into the middle of the night with the lethal tracks "Disko Frisko" and "Labyrinth Disco" -- titles that don't hide their intention nor inspiration. For both cuts he certainly took out a page or two out of the Arthur Russell's book of idiosyncratic disco, especially with the playful "lala" vocals. Both versions of "Soca Soca" keep it funky and eccentric in a percussive electronic boogie style.

Secret Circuit seriously run the voodoo down with this intense jam: jungle drums, spellbinding, exotic chants, and gyrating guitar chords in a My Bloody Valentine style. Remixed by Tiago and Prins Thomas.

Paolo Di Nola takes time out from running his Panacustica label to present you a lovely, melancholy, downbeat piece of cowboy disco. On the A-side you'll get an additional version by Prins Thomas, giving you what you never knew you wanted -- a potent mix of bluegrass and acid. On the B-side, The Stallions aka gunslingers extraordinaire Lovefingers and Lee Dougles fight off the bad guys and get the girl in the end.

Worst Friends is Ryan Cavanagh and John Paul Jones (no, not that one) from Brooklyn. They're also known amongst the beards as Tom Croose and Slow Hands. The music sounds very unlike any short persons playing sports of any kind, though slow and low is definitely the tempo. There's the beautiful Balearic original, Eric Duncan's psychedelic ride on the disco carousel and Prins Thomas' version, which channels the song through recently-acquired skills as a choirboy and 4-finger keyboard chords.

Only a few things are known about Frank Agrario: His real name is Francesco Brini. He lives in Bologna and used to play percussion with Swayzak. The cheesy Italian he is, he runs a label called Mozzarella Recordings (where Internasjonal also snagged "Update" from). Last but not least, he's handed in two tracks that were both slightly re-strung in the Full Pupp's K16 Lab in Oslo. Both tracks are absolutely lethal party-starters.

Internasjonal presents Mathew Senick aka Mathew Leutwyler. Mathew got in touch through the web from Mexico and it took the label only a brief listen to this troika of wonderful sounds to convince them. Now decide for yourself if there's something wrong with their ears. P.S.: my computer tells me he's had releases out on Perspectiv and Traum -- I'll definitely investigate further, so should you.

A major global player in all things futuristic disco, Prins Thomas' Internasjonal imprint further branches out with its Internasjonal Spesial series. Holmar Filipson of Thugfucker and Crack & Speed fame and Ulysees (one-half of Neurotic Drum Band) push the agenda with the soon-to-be-classic emotive electronic disco cut "Escape From New York." Valentinoland (Holmar Filipsson with Arni Runar Hlodversson of FM Belfast) is nothing short of truly exceptional with a gut-wrenching string lead melody in classic Balearic sunset-style.

Hailing from Lisbon, Mendes & Alçada is a project by Pedro Alcada and Lux resident, Tiago Miranda. While DJing with Tiago at Lux, Prins Thomas was handed demos of 3 tracks in progress with the invitation to produce the finished music. Two years and 3 computer crashes later, two of these tracks survived. In the meantime, Tiago has turned into a perfectly capable producer himself, releasing music on Ene Records and Italians Do It Better as T&K (with Kaos).
