RELEASE DATE: 1/24/2020
Tehran born, Stockholm, Sweden based (now Berlin) DJ and producer Aril Brikha is no newcomer to the global electronic music scene. Since the late '90s his genre meltdown between techno and house seduces club music enthusiasts around the world. Influenced by all sorts of electronic music -- ranging from Depeche Mode, Front 242, and Jean-Michel Jarre to Robert Hood and Underground Resistance -- his sounds always wind between straight up club tracks and more deep unwound moving arrangements. As one of the most prolific producers around he released EPs on labels like Kompakt, Poker Flat, his own company Art Of Vengeance, as well as an album for Derrick May's Transmat imprint and a long-player for legendary Peacefrog Records. After mesmerizing EPs for Mule Musiq in early 2019, he now drops a quieter album on the Tokyo-based enterprise, showing his love for slow, trance-influenced compositions that are perfect for meditative moments and thoughtful party situations. His new productions listen to dreamy names like "A Cautious Gaze" or "Everything Was Here First" and get constantly enlarged with melodies, sounds, and harmonies that go beyond the usual characteristics of a dance album. The overall touch is ambientish; partly discreet rolling bass-lines call for a physical movement while spherical synth lines drift across deep floating trance territory. An album for dreamers, that love to get lost in a contemporary un-nostalgic musical journey without the dictation to dance. a record that explores an infinite space of sound with a heartfelt human touch delivered in eight slow grooving tracks mixed to perfection. All hand out a moving story arc full of fluid in-the-moment moods who dance around subliminal bass shapes and dreamfully synth pads. You can call it ambient. You can call it trance. Whatever you name it, the laidback enthusiasm of Dance Of A Trillion Stars brings an auditory experience that haunts deeply, gives space for the tones between the tones, and prepares all Aril Brikha fans peacefully for his upcoming adventures for the dancefloor.

Mule Musiq announces the vinyl release of Kuniyuki's masterpiece, All These Things. Originally, it was only released in 2007 on CD. It was Kuniyuki second album, but it's essentially his first album because the first album was a collection of early productions. The first track "The Guitar Song" is a good mixture of jazz, fusion, world music, and electronic music. The second track, featuring African vocalist and percussionist Omar Guaindefall, is a gem. "You Get Me" features the singer Josee Hurlock, who released her fantastic album Residue on Hefner in 2000. She is also featured on the fourth track, "All These Things", too. The fifth track "Flying Music" features poetry by Alex From Tokyo and popular Tokyo trumpeter Shuichiro Sakaguchi. "The Session" is a collaboration of song with Henrik Schwarz. They have met at Mule Musiq's party in Tokyo and clicked immediately. The seventh track "Touch" sounds very nostalgic, recalling the type of African jazz or Spanish fusion popular currently as Balearic music. The last track, "Rain Of Ocean", is primitive, African minimal deep house. A collection of eight timeless and genre-less tracks.

TXLAX is Dave Aju's first album since 2015. As always, there is plenty of fresh genre-defying ideas in the music, but this time wrapped in a much more relaxed and focused aesthetic -- a fitting personal soundtrack for the homecoming theme of his move back to Los Angeles from Berlin, as the combined airport letters in the title suggest. There is a sonic stylistic bridge of sorts between the sister cities on display as well, all imbued with that inimitable combination of raw playfulness and warm refined soul as only Dave Aju does. From the soaring west coast future funk opener "Bird's Eye", the nautical disco-not-disco of tomorrow in "Out To C" and the bugged-out broken beat flavor of "Silverfish" to the slick melodic electro vibes of the title track, and gorgeous shuffling deep house closer "Yulia", TXLAX is a masterwork filled with beauty, character, and detail that will reward many repeat listens.

The second release from the brightest hope in modern deep house scene, Laurence Guy. The title track is something like a nice mixture of Four Tet and DJ Koze. It will be lovely DJ tool for all house DJs. "The One Where I Like The Vocals" is more UK-style with jazzy broken beats, and "Dissociation In The Car Park At Sain" is a trademark elegant deep house tune in Guy's style.

2019 is Mule Musiq's 15-year anniversary. They're releasing twelve 12"s with their friends and Stefan Marx is handling the artwork. The 11th release is from Kuniyuki, a long-awaited new release following his highly-acclaimed album Newwave Project on 2017 (MUSIQ 058CD/215LP). "Middle Eye", on the A side, is a trippy melody raw house. On B side is "black", more industrial dark machine funk. "Newwave Project 7" was a killer track off of the Newwave Project album; here, Kuniyuki edited it as a more mixable DJ tool version for the dancefloor.

2019 is Mule Musiq's 15-year anniversary. To celebrate, the label are releasing twelve 12"s with their friends and Stefan Marx is making the collectable artwork. The last release of the series comes from Swedish house mafia man, Axel Boman. First track, "Chestnut Hearts" is a super emotional, no-beat, club banger that Axel played at his latest Boiler Room. "Slave To The Vibe" is slow-mo, cosmic tune. "Paid By The Rhythm" is Axel's signature floating house, while "Copacabana Dub" is epic Brazilian affair, a deep house anthem. "Don't Bug Me" is dubby rasta tune and "Konoba Boba" is a little bit reminiscent of the early Border Community sound.

2019 is Mule Musiq's 15-year anniversary. The label is releasing twelve 12"s with Stefan Marx handling the artwork. The tenth release is by the label's long-time friend Superpitcher, aka Pachanga Boys. "Maki" on side A is a tribute song for legendary Japanese folk singer Maki Asakawa. Superpitcher wrote the lyrics and Dip In The Pool's Miyako Koda translated to Japanese and did the reading. "Mishima" on side B is a Superpitcher trademark melancholic house tune. It sounds like updated percussive NYC house from the early '90s.

Is Watarase the best jazz record from Japan, as the French-born Gilles Peterson once assumed? Or is it maybe the best jazz record of all jazz records? Everyone can decide for themselves and listen to Watarase, the second solo piano album of the Japanese pianist Fumio Itabashi, originally released in 1982. Tokyo-based Mule Musiq have unearthed it, re-mastered the original recordings and brought it back to the world in order to seduce all music lovers that embrace notes which come straight from the heart and soul. Any sensible listener finds the instrumental piano pieces are somehow soulfully connected to what Keith Jarrett plays on his legendary Köln Concert (1975). Like Jarrett, Itabashi does not play his notes academically. He lets them fly, gives them some kind a life of their own, hits the piano keys deeply emotionally and injects his into compositions and interpretations a kind of nervous human soul. In terms of style, some call his Watarase recordings post-bop, others contemporary jazz. It is all, however, just that kind of agitating jazz that melts spirituality with humanity. Three tunes, the epic "Someday My Prince Will Come" as well as "Msunduza" and "I Can't Get Started", are interpretations, respectively, of compositions by Frank Churchill, Dollar Brand, and Vernon Duke. The other four compositions were written and by Itabashi, who started to play the piano when he was eight years old. While studying at Tokyo-based Kunitachi College Of Music, he fell in love with jazz. In the 1970's, he worked with such musicians like trumpet player Terumasa Hino, drummer Takeo Moriyama, and saxophonist Sadao Watanabe. Today Itabashi is still a vital part of Japanese jazz culture as a performer and composer. Those who want to see how he makes love with his piano should check the Internet for the French documentary Jazzed Out (2010), that captured his unique way of playing in one episode. But as music is always firstly for the ears, and not the eyes, one had to be directed to play the Watarase recordings loud, to get hooked by the highly infectious piano gems that have been recorded at Nippon Columbia 1st studio in Tokyo on 12th and 13th of October 1981. They will force one to become a good friend with the repeat button, in whatever medium one chooses to surrender to the music of Fumio Itabashi.

The debut release on Mule Musiq by Italian DJ and producer Toto Chiavetta. Toto has been releasing eclectic house music from mighty Innervisions and Yoruba Records over the last few years. Magnus EP starts with the floor-killer, tropical tech house track "Higher Than A Bird". On the B side is "Magnus" and "First Day Without Her", more dark techno for the big rooms, but you can still hear some musical elements.
