2020 repress. Mathew Jonson's second 12" single on his new label. Return of the Zombie Bikers is a massive spine shiveringly intense almost drum and bass b-lined big room track recorded in early 2005 and can easily be compared to Mat's strongest moments including, Decompression EP on M_nus. This track doesn't necessarily need the comparison; it easily stands out on its own. Let it work on and let it move you. "Put Your Booty Shorts On" is yet another a side track written in 2002 dedicated to his wife Frank and remixed with including a vocal in 2005.

The Modern Deep Left Quartet is back, after releasing as Cobblestone Jazz for the past few years. So it's high time that the projects are re-branded as originally intended, and this release marks that foray into quirky techno and mid-tempo goodness. On the A-side is the synth-stab orchestra known as "Ditch Pig." It is direct and to the point, pushing onward and upward with a refined relentlessness. "Harry the Käse Man" is a mid-tempo slice of future-funk. A chugging beat meets twanged-out blips and quirky pads. "Silent Samba" is a quirky and obtuse groove sprinkled with a little cheekiness and a touch of the abstract.

These two tracks came out of recording sessions by the Modern Deep Left Quartet in Mathew Jonson's Berlin studio. Cobblestone Jazz here is comprised of Jonson on SH101 bass, Danuel Tate on Fender Rhodes and Tyger Dhula on drums. The A side, "Before This," has plenty of fiery Rhodes and shuffled hats to compliment the congas, synth, and snaking bassline, while the flip's "Before That" is decidedly more subdued and relaxed, with a mellower Rhodes pass and stripped down drums.

Hrdvsion's "Prettier Than That" is a monster, created by a monster and is perfectly suited for the likes of Wagon Repair. On the flip side, Midnight Operator (the duo of Mathew Jonson and Hrdvsion) bring the noise. "Dangerous Behaviour" rains bass in your face. These two are ready to take the dancefloors by storm -- a melding of analog and digital minds.

The third installment in the Cobblestone Jazz 12" series brings two more tracks. On the A-side we find "Who's Future?" -- full of bubbling, elastic bass and deep chord swells, it's a laidback affair with a snappy groove to push it along. On the flip is "Across The Nation," a stripped-out and up-tempo electro jam with crisp breaks and gated pads. All the elements mingle together to create a thick bed of future funk.

Cobblestone Jazz are back with their second installment in their Wagon Repair series. "Lunar Lander" is a spaced-out zero-gravity jam -- its sparse and jittery beats complimented by some sweet key stabs and a thick and burly analog bass line. "Your Life (You're Life)" is an uptempo slugfest of crunchy beats and a driving bass line. Both tunes were recorded live in the studio and have been culled and edited for your mixing pleasure (A-side by Tyger Dhula and B-side by Danuel Tate).

"Memories (From Where We Are)" celebrates the first of a series of 12" releases that will come out on Wagon Repair over the course of 2011/12. The outcome of a Berlin jam session last fall, Cobblestone Jazz incorporated a Fender Rhodes, vocoder and SH-101 to make up the core voicing of the tracks. The track was mixed live with no prior sequencing arrangement and then cut by The Mole into two sublime edits.

This 12" features tracks from the full-length release Where Did You Just Go? (WAG 064CD) from Canadian Nathan Jonson aka Hrdvsion. Where Did You Just Go? takes the listener to a variety of places, at least some of which will doubtless be new to many ears. A non-compromising creator of glitch-heavy electronic music for the last decade or so, Hrdvsion has finally matched his esoteric vision to the more formal structures of house, techno and electro/breakbeat.

''Be At Risk'' was recorded and produced by Bea Tricks and Beatmaster G (producer/beatboxer). A wide range of influences can be heard such as electro-pop, punk rock, hip-hop, old school, '90s techno, etc. Marta Nael's artwork reflects the arrival of a dimensional traveler to a fictional world where its inhabitants will interact with him and show him a good time ("Melting Dancing"), their fears ("Pipistrello"), and their non-conformism ("Contravention"). It's up to the listener to interpret the record in their own way.

Wagon Repair presents a teaser 12" in anticipation of Cobblestone Jazz's second album. "Chance Dub" features a gentler sound -- deeper, smoother, maybe more reflective. A lone chord progression leads the way, and around it builds swelling synth pads, sub-bass pressure, sprightly bass sequences, and high-precision rhythm programming. Mixed and recorded in real time, the track is always evolving and in motion, without being busy. This is driving, sensual, properly analog house -- the way it was meant to be.

Mr. C presents three versions of the same track, but each with very different purposes as DJ tools. "Waxing" aims for that deep, after-hours vibe, so with the tempo set at 122bpm, Mr. C started with a simple rhythm, layering deep chords and bass lines against spaced-out tones. With "Full Moon," the chord structure of the bass line is slightly altered to make it sit more comfortably with the pads, stabs and melodies -- a beautiful last track of the night-time or sun-up.

Wagon Repair welcomes Exercise One to their roster with this 4-track EP. "Several Things At Once" lays out a groovy foundation and lets the machines do their thing with a rough and dirty sound. "Breeze" features wind-chimes which were recorded with a mic and mixed with melodies and reverbed kicks. "Colony" accumulates power by winding itself into the mind and body of the listener. "Prowl" is based on sound-shifting samples that evoke a predator in search of its prey.

With Ghosts In The AI, Mathew Jonson looks to both the past and future. The first track is the first solo production that was made in Wagon Repair's new Berlin studios. "Technology" comes from Mathew's past. His brother, Nathan (Hrdvsion), asked him why he had not released it, as it was one of his favorites. "The Alchemist" comes from Mathew's involvement producing the music score for the silent film Faust, which was screened in 2009 with Cobblestone Jazz playing.

Cobblestone Jazz founding member Danuel Tate is back on the solo tip with the Doesn't Like You Back EP, and this time, he's bringing it harder. Although some familiar elements from his first EP can be found in the horns and synths that form the beds for the quirky vocoder, this release is more direct. This 12" reflects the moment on the dancefloor when you realize the woman next to you is way out of your league.

This is Dinky's fourth studio album. Following up on her unanimously-acclaimed album May Be Later (VA 003CD/024LP), Chilean artist and Berlin transplant Alejandra Iglesias conceived Anemik entirely for the Wagon Repair label after being approached by label head Mathew Jonson. A musing on femininity and the fine line between romance and delirium, Anemik transcends borders in its range of influence and reflects consciousness in the fluidity and tangibly live origins of its creation. Recorded using analog equipment and acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on voice, there is a wisdom and maturity to this work. Opener "Childish" builds from meditative beginnings with looped synth, wandering pads and wildfire percussive cycles that concoct a deep and dreamy landscape. "Romaniks" creates space between electronic and acoustic spheres with Latin-soaked beats encircling a subdued kick. Mantric vocal chants inject a mystical dimension into the affair, its psychedelic overtones continuing into "Westoid," where Dinky's vocal lament is complimented by the baritone accents of Los Updates' enigmatic Jorge Gonzáles. "Goldfishes" bubbles into being with processed choral scales, while "Rainfallic" is a mid-tempo trip of lazy legato harmonies and epic Telecaster drones. "Anemik" is a restless electronic frenzy, with melodic and percussive elements feuding amidst staccato vocals, effervescent machine transmissions and a penetrating central kick. "Glacial" opens with reverberant vocals and deep percussion that swims through murky pads and delayed keys. "Ceramik" weaves a tight beat, with warm Rhodes accompaniment, live percussion and ramped vocal passages. Thumbed melodic patterns and sonorous key stabs characterize "Glassik," while "Skyped" intertwines grandiose processed chorals, deep metallic percussion and leveling pads. The infectious, arpeggiated melodies of "Epilepsia" are invigorated by live Latin percussion, "Fadik" is a wonky love song set to cascading beats, strummed guitar and electronic emissions, and "Nocturnal" unsettles with moribund ambient shivers to complete the kaleidoscopic range of flavors and emotions offered by this remarkable record. At times dreamy, at times nightmarish, at times romantic, at times befuddled, Anemik is always quintessentially Dinky.

This is the debut EP by London duo Dollz At Play. Xochitl and Bea, originally from Mexico and Spain respectively, present "Oscura Wand In Paris," a mid-paced, bass-driven minimal electro-strut, equally suited for the Miami sun or Berlin dawn. The dub version is a subtler beast -- an ethereal and meditative ambient journey. Dollz At Play manager and Superfreq head-honcho Mr. C provides the final mix -- a deep techno trip founded on swelling synths, bouncing bass and epic melodies.

This is Montreal-native Stephen Beaupré's Wagon Repair debut. One half of Crackhaus, a long-time collaboration with Deadbeat, Stephen has released solo material on Musique Risquée, Mutek_Rec and ~scape. "Achaemenid" roams stridently with a tight kick, clangorous, melodic cascades, and rhythmic tones. Ethereal string pads and moaning atmospherics imply conflict, narrated by catchy vocals. A reverberant synth-line injects life into "Lotus Eaters," with vocal samples and melodic tones forming sonic structures around a deep tom and rattled hat. Totally intoxicating.

Dinky aka Alejandra Inglesias presents the first single from her Wagon Repair debut album. "Wind" mesmerizes with repetitive keys looped over a straight kick. Chirped tones pulse amidst descending melodic chimes in a steadily-evolving elemental journey that equally evokes Reich and Cobblestone Jazz. "Outro" establishes territory with intoxicating arpeggio melodies, while "Wet Hair" plunges into submarine depths. "Butterfly" is saturated with a variety of sounds; from indigenous samples to wobbly bass and detuned keys -- disorienting and enchanting.

Wagon Repair's 51st release features Hrdvsion's chopped melody and effervescent invention. "The Mohana" explores a central chord progression with intermittent, squeaked melodic static, reverberant pad echoes and crisp, swinging percussion. Dueling hook lines dance between pounded kick and hat in one of Hrdvsion's most floor-ready tracks. "Sliding Into Air (Edit)" takes matters deeper as soaked pads loom over lively harmonic sparks. Melodic holes are punched through a compressed mix, their impact adding rhythm to an infectious, percussive motor. Epic and uncompromising.

Wagon Repair celebrates their 50th record with a special colored vinyl release by label-head Mathew Jonson. "Walking On The Hands That Follow Me" features foot-stepped bass and rapid-fire hat, as wisps of melody approach from afar. A vocal pierces the mix as a chilling pad makes your hair stand on end. "When Loves Feels Like Crying" is rich yet fragile, with harmonic fragments granulating from the central hook. Punched bass tones offer glimpses of movement and energy beneath the cascading surface form.

Wagon Repair announces the third EP from Berlin-based Canadian Mike Shannon, who has previously released on ~scape, Num and Plus 8. "Darkstar 3000" is a futurist techno stomp powered by melodic tones, a prominent metallic hat, dissonant stealth melodies and punched bass. "Sweets (feat. Fadila)" features static percussive tones circling around a pummeling kick while a rapturous vocal and dizzy pads close it out. "Sweetapella," with its lone, haunting vocal, is full of texture and space.

This is Paul Ritch's debut release for the Wagon Repair label. This Parisian's rise in esteem is characterized by his inclusion of warm Latin rhythms into the traditionally cold and calculated techno format. "Evil Laff" effervesces like a lab experiment, with layers of richly sampled percussion looping, stuttering and decompressing as the track picks up steam. Konrad Black's remix plunges into even darker waters. Metallic percussion and a deep ascendant bass melody dictate the pace, culminating in thudded keys and a commanding narrator.

Malmö duo Minilogue present a release with the kind of warped sounds and dense textures that have become their signature. "Snake Charmer" incorporates ghostly Eastern flute sounds into a tribal, percussive drive. Wisps of synth and pulsed tones encircle the central beat, recoiling into dreamy ambience before biting back with bass kick. "Urban Slough" is a deep techno gem driven by droning synth and reverberating percussion. This mix of industrial beats and howling tunes is a melancholy masterpiece.

This is Ryan Crosson's debut Wagon Repair EP. With releases on Trapez, Telegraph and M_nus as Berg Nixon, Ryan's shuffled percussive styles are getting many excited. "Confiteria Del Molino" is a bassy and deep bomb with warped vocals, strutting beats, melodic tones and subtle synths. "Sunshine Wave" features a bouncing melody and chattering percussion. A huge bass sound is accented by needling synth and a techno kick. "Use Me Up" bubbles with melodic tones, crackling samples and distorted vocals.
