Mark Barrott: "For a long time after The Pathways Of Our Lives (2017), I didn't feel like making music . . . I went back to Uruguay for the first time in a long while, walked in the Arboretum Lussich and sat by the ocean . . . eventually realised I'm a musician, not a philosopher and got back to work . . . In the meantime, one thing having a break has taught me, is that music is not about being clever or relevant, it's about self-expression and connection, an escape for both the maker and listener from everyday homogeny."

Following his "mini-masterpiece" in 2017 (IFEEL 064CD/LP), LA musician Scott Gilmore returns to International Feel with Another Day. The uplifting "Electric Gestures" is the first of the four dreamy soundscapes. Setting the tone, it drifts through with tight yet subtle percussion. A melancholic twist ensues with the melodic string number "Things Forgotten". Next up, "Lately" follows suit blending emotive keys with thoughtful strings, which lead onto the hopeful and hypnotic chords of "Another Day". Gilmore combining elements of '70s underground psychedelia, kosmische, and library music.

Mark Barrott on the release: "In 2016 I released Cascades (IFEEL 053EP). François K got in touch with some very kind words about the track and offered to remix it, initially in surround for his 2016 show at the Ministry of Sound and later on in stereo. Here it is. It's deep and luscious. Enveloping and all encompassing. A melted chocolate fountain of warmth and joy minus Augustus Gloop."

From their base in Los Angeles, intrepid musical voyagers Pharaohs have imagined a place far from the city for their first stand-alone release on International Feel. "While we were working on this record I was reading a book Crossings by surfer journalist Michael Kew," says Pharaohs co-founder Sam Cooper. "A lot of the music was inspired by his travels in the South Pacific, his imagery, the way he talked about places and how there were still undiscovered places in the world. I was immersing myself in this tropical island world. I guess this is my idea of what I'd want to hear if I was out there." Filled with irregular rhythms played on peculiar percussion, with shades of Eno's work with Jon Hassell, guitar lines and muted saxophone drift in and out of focus, while exotic sounding synthesizers carry much of the melody. Sam met fellow Pharaohs co-founder Ale Cohen in Amoeba Music and the pair, who each play guitar and synth, started jamming in 2007/08. Two more members were added. Diego Herrera, who also records as Suzanne Kraft, was an original member and although his relocation now prevents him from joining the regular jams, some of his playing can be heard on this album, notably its first track "Muddy Middle Of Nowhere". Fourth member, Casey Butler, aka Stellar Rahim, studied composition at CalArts where his mentor and teacher was renowned avant-garde and free jazz trumpeter/composer Wadada Leo Smith. He is also a member of the CalArts Gamelan Orchestra. Originally conceived by Test Pressing's Paul Byrne, International Feel's mini-album series has established itself in a space somewhere between worldbeat, Balearic, and library music. Following releases in the series by Len Leise (IFEEL 049LP, 2015), CFCF (IFEEL 051LP, 2016), Shelter (IFEEL 061LP, 2017), Wolf Muller & Cass (IFEEL 054LP, 2016), In Oeland offers a mature and heady mix of diverse influences that displays the furthest extents of Pharaohs' musical adventuring to date. Sit back, listen and join them for the ride. In Oeland is the fifth release in International Feel's mini-album series. 180 gram vinyl.

One year on since their last venture as Black Spuma on International Feel (IFEEL 057EP, 2016) Fabrizio Mammarella, also known as Telespazio, and Phillip Lauer, one half of Tuff City Kids, are back with the insatiable Orme. Showcasing the pair at their best, this four-tracker is where acid meets emotive melodies and shimmering Italo synths lines. In the words of Phillip Lauer it's where "Balearic vibes, acid love and a lost tape from 1991 merge into pure bliss!" Lauer recently released the self-titled Talamanca System album on International Feel, alongside Gerd Janson and label boss Mark Barrott (IFEEL 063CD/LP, 2017).

There is something wonderfully uplifting and naive about the mittle European B-movie pop and library music of the 1970s. An imperfect perfection of sound palette and melody, creating and encapsulating a whole world of hypnotic intrigue. This feeling is what comes to mind when listening to the debut album of Californian Scott Gilmore. A wonderfully concocted tincture of yard sale instrumentation, Walker Brothers guitar, offbeat refrains, and home-brew synthesizers, put together with a truly different sense of perspective, from a musician seeming to exist outside of time and scene. Scott's debut is reminiscent (in more modern times) of the pre-Moon Safari Air (1997). The playful opening of "E70 No. 01" leads into the Bowie and Eno-esque shimmerings of "Europe" and the Gainsbourg hazed moments of "Flight Through Grey" and "Subtle Vertigo". The album closes with "Walking Underground", a valley boy diary of the outsider looking inwards at the bizarrity of everyday life. This is a travelogue of the timeless and gently obscure, a bunch of rarities all in one place, at one time, woven together with an accomplished sense of harmony, counterpoint, and vision. From the river side of the Dordogne, to the Grünewald of Berlin, the white sands of Playa de Des Illetes, and the urban sprawl of Van Nuys, this is an alternative sonic reality sent to free the mind and open the heart, as the sun rises high in the sky and the cotton wool heat envelopes you in its gilded cage. CD version comes in a four-panel digipak.

LP version. 180 gram vinyl; Comes in a gatefold sleeve; Includes download card. On the white island, between Ibiza Town and the infamous fish shack high up on a rock next to a bird sanctuary, you will find the beach of Talamanca. Plagued by too much seaweed, anchored middle-class yachts, and joggers, it is also surprisingly the spiritual home of a correspondent post-Balearic group. As luck would have it, a remix request by Mark Barrott bedded the International Feel boss in a trio with Philipp Lauer and Gerd Janson, alias Tuff City Kids. A highly sought-after 12-inch later -- Balanzat (IFEEL 034EP, 2014) -- as well as fantasies of getting together to work on more material, led to a fruitful and effortless studio session on the non-Balearic outskirts of Frankfurt am Main. The outcome of that meeting forms the homonymous debut album of Talamanca System. A documented vision, or a sunburned imagination of a day and night spent on said island, during a moment in time that probably never was or will be. Still summed up best by dungarees, long hair, yellow sunglasses, espadrilles, or that famous picture of people grouped around roofless Amnesia's pyramid well, it is the food of the Balearic gods. But, dear nostalgia, stop right here! Even though Talamanca's debut flies the Balearic flag, it is not about turning back the clock, but rather about a past that could be the future. Dusted, danceable, driving, dreamy, and dapper at the same time, this is an album for the club, the car, the beach, the (coke) float, and the fountain. Coined by the colorful and respective talents of the three individuals behind Talamanca, you will hear nine tracks ranging from up- to down-tempo, piano house smashers that would have deserved the prefix Italo-, percussion rituals captured by a group of zoo animals on the loose, soundtracks for dusk and dawn, hushed vocals, rites of ambient passages, powerful synth ballads, and vamp choirs. If this album were a car, it would be a Citroen 2CV remade by Tesla. Their past is your future!

Talamanca System are the unlikely trio of Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer of Tuff City Kids, and Mark Barrott. My Past Is Your Future brings them back together, for the first time since their sole release in 2014 (IFEEL 034EP), and winks at a forthcoming album. "My Past Is Your Future" uses of delicate chords, cascading keys, and an effortless groove and it's paired with a "Beatless Stars Is Space" mix that strips it back to its core and the "Chukka Chukka Dance" mix which squares up to the dancefloor with an end-of-night classic.

Shelter is Alan Briand, a young Parisian producer with a strong melodic center producing a sound that pulls on the zouk, the Afro, the Balearic and the ambient palette. Zon Zon Zon is only his fifth release and his first mini-album, following the series on International Feel that delivered material from Len Leise (IFEEL 049LP, 2016), Wolf Muller & Cass. (IFEEL 054LP, 2016), and CFCF (IFEEL 051LP, 2016). International Feel first met Shelter on a trip to Paris a few years back. It sounds like a story from a Nick Hornby novel, but there's a record shop in Paris called L'International Records, run by a guy called Dave, who has a group of young French DJs, producers, and promoters that visit the store, hang out, and buy and listen to music - a story no doubt currently being repeated throughout the world as new generations immerse themselves in the culture. Shelter is a producer who has sucked up all that he has been hearing around him for a number of years and is now producing a quality sound, pulling on the exotic. The seven tracks on this mini-album are taken from an extensive pool of Shelter's melodic magic. Some people lead on the beats, some on the production, but Alan focuses on the melody, with the beat closely tied in as support. "Señor Zalla" starts the album with an Afro vibe, closely followed by the zouk-style of "Zon Zon Zon" and "Port-au-Coeur"'s mellow Balearic tones, as Shelter twists nature's sounds into his own sonic world. "Bucolica", an upbeat wonder of a track, turns to the ambient mantra of "Courant Rouge" and its distant cousin "Courant Bleu", a classic rhythmic Balearic piece with syncopated melody and delayed drums. "La Volière" (the French can make even "bird cage" sound beautiful) brings the album to a close with a smile in the mind's eye. Zon Zon Zon is universal. It could easily have been created in Ibiza or Canada, Australia or Africa. It was in fact recorded at Paris, where Shelter forged beauty through the sounds of nature and uncovers a wisdom in its simplicity. Expect good things from Alan. Here's the first chapter. 180 gram vinyl.

Mark Barrott embodies elements of world music and a more poignant mood with Music For Presence: "I noticed the mood change at La Torre, as the post sunset nocturne started to get longer and longer. It made me realize that this was a different kind of music. . . . it was a feeling I was very keen to explore once September finished and I headed back into the studio. A different feeling to the sunset haze of long drawn-out summer days, one inspired by the golden colors of Autumn and the neon cityscapes of Tokyo and Osaka at night."

The Sound Of Glades Remixes features three remixes of tracks from Wolf Müller & Cass.'s mini-album The Sound Of Glades (IFEEL 054EP, 2016). "Glade Runner" features a remix by Salon Des Amateurs resident Tolouse Low Trax, with wonky insect sounding synths and a perfect bump and ride. On the B side, Müller's version of "Aiolos" takes the original sound of the forests to the beach - Ibiza via Germany. Cass. takes the same track to a more mellow zone to round things off with his trademark drones & drifting vocals, light percussion and flanged drums.

Black Spuma are Fabrizio Mammarella (Telespazio) and Phillip Lauer (Tuff City Kids, Talamanca System). Infamous for releases on Running Back, Beats In Space and Permanent Vacation, they return to International Feel with Onda, a four track EP. They think the best place for their music is in clubs and parties with nice people listening to it. They fear that sleep laboratories will use it to put their patients to rest. But ultimately, everywhere is the best place for their music. Black Spuma has a general approach to turn lows into highs, darkness into dawn and smart into stupid.

180 gram vinyl. International Feel presents remixes pf CFCF's On Vacation (IFEEL 051LP). LA's Pharaohs blends Liston Smith vibes on their take on "Pleasure Centre". It becomes a bongo-driven ride with acoustic guitars and jazz-infused flute harmonics. CFCF himself takes on "Fleurs Laissés Sans Un Taxi" in a beautiful balearic style. Pat Metheny-style guitars brings out the melody with the pads & syncopated drums and percussion rolling away in the background. Apiento takes the chance to reedit "Chasing". A little dub and an extension is all it takes to let this one breathe for a little longer.

Wolf Müller & Cass. present The Sound Of Glades as part of International Feel 's mini album series. This release follows two highly regarded releases on International Feel: Len Leise's Lingua Franca (IFEEL 049LP) and CFCF's On Vacation (IFEEL 051LP). Jan Schulte is Wolf Müller. He makes music to dance to and he likes to pick things up and bang them. He makes funky German sounds from jew's harps and other odd items that you wouldn't expect. He is like an underground German version of Herbert (but with more groove in his bones). Cass. makes soundscapes that melt your bones and take you elsewhere. Together they are a pretty formidable duo.

180 gram double LP version. Include download card. D-side has etched design. Mark Barrott music acts as a bridge between his own spirituality and creative expression. "Humanity is facing a big challenge at the moment. We're at a fork in the path." he muses, "More so than ever people are now pushing the boundaries, taking more drugs and seeking sensory overload, driven in part by the hedonism traditionally associated with dance music. For me, it's time to focus more on making healing music, on trying to find the balance between all this wonderful technology and the freedom it gives us with the natural world. I am telling stories of everyday life in Ibiza. Sound-tracking my life here through local field recordings, dusty synths, some African percussion and a bit of slide guitar. This music is a lot more like folk music, taking mood, atmosphere and composition and threading stories around that framework." While the original spirit from the first Sketches album remains, tracks like the instrumental emotional pop of "Driving to Cap Negret" and the heavy weather atmosphere of "Distant Storms at Sea" highlight a compositional leap forward. The polyrhythmic joy of "Cirrus & Cumulus" and overall feeling portrayed by Barrott's idiosyncratic aural oddities, highlight a composer comfortable in his own skin and very content with his surroundings and day to day life. "It was also influenced by playing at La Torre last summer," Barrott explains of his residency at Ibiza's latest sunset mecca. "I loved seeing how people react to the wonderful spectacle of the sunset and how you can create a movie soundtrack where the sunset is the film. I've realized this journey is the journey within. If one second of any of the Sketches records help people achieve that on their own, then I'm eternally grateful."

The International Feel label is a favorite of all musical persuasions. It's carefree grooves have been supported by the likes of Gilles Peterson through to i-ÚD magazine. Spearheaded by Mark Barrott for the last seven years, it has both broken new artists such as Len Leise and resurrected legends such as Jose Padilla."Cascades" is an elegant wash of synths and percussion, creating an emotional texture in its rhythm and serenity in its simplicity. "Tago Mago" creates more action through its dense percussion and temporal melodies, all set upon the subtle field recordings that Barrott has become infamous for.

180-gram 12". Len Leise's acclaimed Lingua Franca mini-album (IFEEL 049LP, 2015) was the first release in International Feel's mini-album series, which accompanies each mini-album with a 12" featuring a remix by the artist and another respected producer. Here, Leise and Gilb'R revisit the work that Thump called "2015's undoubted Balearic masterpiece." Len Leise turns "O Caminho" (also included in its original form) into a dub-heavy ride -- basslines rumble and congas move. With his remix of "El Modelo," French native Gilb'R, a living legend in the house scene, delivers a timeless piece of house music made with the dancefloor in mind.

180-gram vinyl. CFCF is Montréal native Michael Silver, a man with a gift for a melody who has been making music since he was 12 years old. He continues to deliver timeless music -- which Pitchfork has described as "a strong case for how much unexpected magic can be found in the ordinary" -- with his debut release for International Feel, On Vacation. The second in International Feel's mini-album series, On Vacation is an album inspired by places and spaces -- some imaginary, some real. Silver's keen sense for melody allows him to switch genres throughout this release, though he remains in organic, analog territory. "It's really gentle and lowkey and I hope that people will not take it too seriously," explains Silver. "It's a kind of jazzy affair." Mystical opener "Sate Padang" sets the scene with a mixture of digital and organic sounds perfectly held together by tight melodies and lush sounds. "Arto" is an homage to one of the great Japanese composers, Seigen Ono. Acoustic guitar and piano play harmoniously alongside a conga beat and a sumptuous accordion. Ambient piece "In the Courtyard" precedes "Pleasure Centre," which showcases Silver's love for the underappreciated side of the '80s synth sound. The B-side opens with the stunning "Chasing," on which acoustic instrumentation swoops in for a beautiful run through a flowing melody. "Fleur Laisses dans un Taxi" is a nod to Paris in the spring, while "Lighthouse on Chatham Sound" evokes a late afternoon by the sea before the contemplative closer, "Vermont." On Vacation finds Silver in full stride, open to music and melody and not hindered by genre, time, or space.

José Padilla concludes his So Many Colours campaign with a bang, following the 2015 release of the forward-thinking balearic album on International Feel (IFEEL 042CD/LP). Album track "Blitz Magic," a Telephones production remixed here, is a lovely balearic ride that bears the influence of Manuel Göttsching's all-time classic E2-E4 (1984), and, in turn, 1989's "Sueno Latino." Munich-based trio Tambien (Bartellow and Public Possession owners Marvin & Valentino) create that intriguing, intelligent remix. Award-winning Swiss producer and DJ Deetron keeps his soul in Detroit and his heart in warm techno, and his remix cleans out the drums and takes it back to pure club values.

2016 repress; 180-gram vinyl. Respected balearic imprint International Feel introduces its series of mini-albums with Len Leise's Lingua Franca. The series consists of six-to-eight-track albums, allowing each artist to show more of their musical identity without the constraints of the traditional album format. Lingua Franca precedes a beautiful release from Canada's CFCF, an ambient album from Jan Schulte, and the return of Gatto Fritto. Len Leise is Australian -- that is known. Does he exist? Maybe in the mind of his creator. Lingua Franca follows three beautiful EPs centered around a natural musical theme built on emotion, times, and spaces. Lingua Franca, his first long-form work, shows the varied palette of his listening habits, from ambient jazz through Afro disco; the likes of Yasuaki Shimizu, Jake Sollo, and Ike White. Rare names for a rare sound. Lingua Franca is all about travel and progression, in both physical and emotional senses. It's an imaginary journey based on real experiences, though, as with his name, what is real and what is not doesn't matter. Morocco appears in the deep ride of "Forlorn Fields," Spain in "Leaving Llucmajor," and Russia in "Route to Reutov." Ever on the move, trade language is necessary -- a lingua franca. India finds its way here via the chimes of "Madala Maksim," Brazil in the disco sound of "O Camino," and Africa in the slow, thoughtful pace of "El Modelo." Sometimes a visual element brings the music to life; sometimes a thought or feeling. It's music to keep and get lost in, a spiritual ride across the world's paths and percussions. These sounds are true to Len Leise and Lingua Franca has been designed to delve inside his mind. A spreading of wings, changing pace for a chance to indulge in those wispy, smoke-filled thoughts. Artwork comes courtesy of The Material Collective, responsible for International Feel's switch back to full cover art. Each mini-album in this series has a similar look, as part of a diverse series of interlinked journeys through the sonic spectrum of each artist's imagination.
