This is the debut full-length release by Chicago's dance music legend Roy Davis Jr. for Japan's Lantern label. With his trademarked brand of heartfelt, soulful grooves, this album is a testament to his love of music. From electro-'80s flavors to cool R&B and back to his Chicago house music roots, the album overflows with catchy pop-chart material. God Life Music features seven different vocalists including Detroit's Billboard-topping Terry Dexter, and Los Angeles rapper Khalid. The first single from the album, "I Have A Vision (feat. Erin Martin)," was released earlier in 2009 to worldwide critical acclaim and boasted dancefloor-smashing remixes by stellar artists such as The Juan MacLean, Fred Falke and Todd Edwards. The single was featured on hundreds of blogs, radio shows (including Pete Tong's show on the BBC) and top music and lifestyle magazines (including DJ and Time Out). Davis has remixed artists such as Seal, Mary J. Blige, D'Angelo, Eric Benet/Faith Evans, Patti LaBelle, Christina Milian and others. He also has an impressive discography of his own productions, having released music on top-tier labels such as Strictly Rhythm, XL, Ubiquity, Large, Daft Punk's imprint Roulé, Nice+Smooth and more, and his legendary DJ skills have taken him to clubs around the world. This is also a new phase for the Lantern label, as they enter into the world of pure house groove. Other guest artists include Mark, Manny, XL, and Heat Fam.

This is the first compilation album from Tokyo's minimal techno house label, Lantern -- organized by Mondii, who also runs the Plop & Spekk label and Naoki Shinohara, who is a party DJ and the compiler of the album. The 11 tracks of over 70 minutes on this album were selected with the concept in mind of "artists who create highly-addictive tracks, both good for home listening and for the dancefloor." The album starts off with a hazy minimal dub tune from the Russian producer Martin Schulte, followed by Trimsound owner Leif's popping rhythmic tune, and once again, another track by Martin Schulte, written in collaboration with his Russian mate, Mr. Dee. The compilation moves on to Geoff White aka Aeroc's edgy skillfulness, a bumpy hard tune by Arctic Hospital, a special, deep track by Mojuba's Sven Weisemann, a rolling, sexy tune by top producer Markus Fix, atmospheric tech-house by Till Von Sein, uplifting piano-house by Background's Andy Vaz, a Detroit-ish techno track by the owner of Mojuba, Don Williams, and a chilling downtempo vocal tune by the famous Glimpse collaborating with Cadenza's Lee Van Dowski.

This is the debut full-length release on the Lantern label for Russian DJ/producer Marat Shibaez aka Martin Schulte. At the early age of 12 years old, his mind was heavily captured by electronic music and 2 years later, he started producing tracks under the alias Martin Schulte. So far, he has already released over 30 pieces and remixes on labels around the world such as Sinergy Networks, Pongo and Green Rat. Depth Of Soul is composed of 9 deep, spatial, minimal dub tracks which prove his already matured skills. The well-crafted textures are deep and warm throughout, showing his background and revealing inspirations from nature with beats that are tremendously diverse and cutting edge, sometimes sharp, other times bouncy, keeping the same cozy tension from the beginning to end. As the artist himself describes, "The tracks represent my soul and is like a sound gallery of paintings," and indeed, the overall color of the album is comfortably shady and dim with beautiful gradations, just as in an Impressionist painting. A splendid, underwater album with shiny, bright reflections here and there. Fans of Gas and Monolake take heed.

This is the second full-length release for Wisconsin techno producer Arctic Hospital aka Eric Bray, and his first release for the new, Tokyo-based label, Latern. He has recorded a selection of well-received records, along with his first full length CD for Miami's Narita Records in 2006. He is also in charge of the electronics/mixing in the four-piece band, The World On Higher Downs. Neon Veils is up-to-date techno in the present/future sense. From the beginning to the end, the details are precise and imaginative, while keeping the tension on the tight and groovy beats. Neon Veils is a vibrant and colorful musical expression of experience, concentration and propulsive sound, recalling new techno, old techno, and everything else in-between.
