With Rockinitis Stag-O-Lee champion electric-guitar blues from the '50s and early-60s. Unfettered pleasure in the form of Black dance music. This fourth installment of the series may be the hottest yet. Barcelona's Fonsoul has been neck deep in records his whole life. After kicking around in indie bands during the '90s, he started DJing and turned his focus towards collecting African American music forms in their original 7" format. Check out his incredible YouTube channel to hear the results of this obsession. Fonsoul has also contributed superb mixes to Jester Wild, Jukebox Jam, Buzzsaw Joint, Cool Cat, and A Wamba Buluba. He's been running the Double Cookin' club for over a decade and is a regular guest at clubs and weekenders throughout Europe. Mace was born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent. From the Mod revival scene he got into '60s soul and R&B. He's been relieving northern soul record dealers of gritty and bluesy 45s for years. His passion for finding obscure '50s blues and '60s R&B drew him to record fairs in the USA. Now he makes a living trading vinyl. A DJ since his late teens, Mace has put on many events, including The Federal R&B Club in Crewe. He's also a resident DJ at Sheffield's legendary Pow Wow. Features Buddy Johnson And His Orchestra, Big Tiny Kennedy And His Orchestra, Little Arthur Mathews, Solomon Burke, Robert T. Smith With Toby Pride's Orch., Jimmie Raney & Slim Slaughter, Henry Moore With Willard Burton And Orchestra, Mel Alexander And Movin Master's Band, Paul Gayten, Little David, Blues Slim, Little Ray, Mojo Watson, Sam Baker, Charles Sheffield, and Freddy King. 180 gram, yellow vinyl; hand-numbered.

Double LP version. Stag-O-Lee continues the DJ-Set series with compilation by cult DJ and master of few compilations Gay Mayall. Liner notes: "As a tasty contribution to your vinyl LP collection, this double album explores four avenues that reflect aspects of Gaz's Rockin' Blues club. Founded July 3rd, 1980, now celebrating 40 years of fun and dancing at London's Number One Blues dance. Originally at Gossips in the basement of 69 Dean Street, with its entrance on Meard St., the cobbled alley that links it with Wardour Street in the heart of Soho, traditionally the hub of clubland and red light district in London's West End. After DJing and presenting bands there for over 14 years, I moved the regular Thursday club night round the corner to St. Moritz, 159 Wardour Street. Another great Soho basement dive with a huge history. The choice of music in this particular selection contains two fundamental styles of Rhythm and Blues oriented boogie music that influenced the world. The post war era of black dance music was driven by R&B that was the inspiration for the rock n' roll of the 1950s. Here you have a hardcore slice of Black rock & roll, a side of rockin' early '50s R&B, it's precursor on one platter. On the next disc you'll hear a bunch of moving, exciting and at times frenzied '50s gospel. The idiom where most R&B and black rock n' roll and soul stars learned their art and cut their teeth. I was asked for this project to choose a bunch of Jamaican tunes to illustrate the role Jamaica's music has played in influencing the style and direction of Gaz's Rockin' Blues. These tracks are drawn from the very earliest days, at the inception of ska in the late '50s when Ja artists, having fell in love with US R&B, created their own take on it. I hope you enjoy this album for many years to come. Treasure it as I and all at Gaz's Rockin Blues have treasured these tracks. 40 years and still going strong!" Features Little Richard, Cledus Harrison, Screamin' Joe Neal, Pretty Boy, Jackie Brenston, Dave Bartholomew, James Brown, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Brownie McGhee, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Bob Gaddy, Floyd Dixon, Sonny Knight, The Flying Clouds, Sensational Nightingales, The Pilgrim Travelers, The Gospel Clefs, Brother Joe May, Bessie Griffin, Archie Brownlee, Owen Gray, Count Ossie Afro Combo, Rico's Combo, The Blues Busters, The Moonlighters, Theophilus Beckford, and Duke Reid and His Group.

Stag-O-Lee continue the DJ Set series with a compilation by cult DJ and master of many compilations, Keb Darge. Liner notes from Keb Darge (London October 2020): "Rockabilly didn't cross my world until the early nineteen eighties at a Dirtbox weekender in Bournemouth, until then I was a pure northern soul boy. I didn't really get stuck into collecting the stuff until a decade later, but when I did what a wonderful world of tunes opened up to me, and I went wild on it. I was very lucky to be doing a record stall in Camden market at the time just across from Boz Boorer and Neil Scott's stall. They along with other serious collectors Dave Vickers, Barney Koumis, Cosmic Keith, Jim Fox, Dave Crozier, and many others taught me all I needed to know. I only ever made one great rockabilly discovery which none of them knew, 'Little Bit Lonesome' by Charles Ross, but I was happy enough buying all their recommendations as they were all new and exciting for me. I have done several rockabilly comps before, but sadly the Philippines typhoon in 2013 destroyed my village and forced me to sell the bulk of my collection. Here are some of my favorites that I never got round to putting out before that happened. Two of the aforementioned collectors are no longer with us. I therefore dedicate this comp to Dave Vickers and Cosmic Keith who both had a huge influence on my life and my musical taste." Features Fender IV, The Sonics, James Mask, John Worthan, Vince Maloy, Don Wade, Billy Wayne, Wally Willette and his Globe Rockers, Darrell Rhodes And The Falcons, Arlie Miller And The Bullets, Cruisers, Joe D. Johnson, Bobby McDowell, Jerry Arnold And The Rhythm Captains, Gene Terry, Glen Glenn, Red Moore, Maylon Humphries And His Tri-Seniors, Van Brothers, Sonny Fisher, Benny Cliff Trio, Gene Norman, Tommy Nelson, Lloyd McCollough, Don Ellis And Royal Dukes, Sonny Wallace, Floyd Mack, Rod Morris, Carl Trantham And The Rhythm Allstars, Jim Oertling, Hodges Brothers, and Lonesome Drifter.

The Rockinitis series showcases electric guitar blues from the mid-50s to the early '60s. Unfettered pleasure in the form of Black dance music. Third time's the charm as two heavy-hitters join the fray. Wexford, Ireland's Bill Kealy, has been packing dancefloors for 30 years. He was sucked deep into the rhythm & blues vortex after following the trail back from the music of his youth; The Kinks, The Animals, and the like. A truly international DJ, hear his sets at The Federal Rhythm & Blues Club in Crewe, For Dancers Only in Dublin, or as a regular guest DJ at top R&B clubs almost everywhere. Steve Longworth spent his teenage years dancing to Soul at Wigan Casino. He was then drawn towards the R&B and popcorn sound. Since the early 2000s, he's been running nights all across England's North -- Soulful Shack, Down In The Basement and The Ad-Lib, to name a few. He's played gritty blues 45s at clubs from Barcelona to Melbourne and now regularly spins at Sheffield's mighty Room At The Top. Features Al Simmons, Eddie Burns, Skip Robinson, The Nightriders, Roy Brown, Peppermint Harris, Ulie & The Uniques, Junior Wells, Little Walter, Dusty Brown, Ace Holder, Lynn Johnson, Detroit Junior, Jimmy Anthony, Magic Sam, and Poppa Hop.

Here you are! A second batch with essential tunes from the hallowed nights of the Hoochie Koo. To some, this is dancefloor material. Some of these versions you won't find anywhere else. The Hoochie Koo is a high-octane extravaganza inspired by the risqué rock 'n' roll lifestyle of the early days, delivering an explosive mix of rare '50s/'60s tunes, a live -- Soundsystem for the dancefloor, Gogo dancing -- and the raunchiest Burlesque in town. Big thanks to all the queens and cowboys, frenetic musicians, sultry showgirls, and self-acclaimed dancing kings. A big shout to the collaborating venues for helping us set a benchmark. And the almighty Bassy Club, that will stay in our hearts forever... The music: "Crazy Lover" sets the mood. "Thunder" is tweaked a bit to kindle the floor, followed by the "Earthshaker" featuring the crazy honking of our sax-player, Florent. "Rock-a-Chika" is an homage to the leader of our go-go team, because her name is Chika! "Bassy Boogaloo" had been recorded years ago at one of our wild nights at the infamous Bassy Club (R.I.P). "Snacky De Odorou" is the soundtrack for the quirkiest burlesque performer at Hoochie Koo: Snacky The Drag King! Furthermore: a hiccup rock, the Nabout dance, atmospheric surf. Features Richard Berry, Bob Taylor & The Counts, The Lancasters, Warner Mack, Henry Cording, Hoochie Krew, Hajime Kaidou, Claude François, The Atmospheres, Dario Moreno.

Message from Stag-O-Lee: "When I visited New Orleans in 2004 in struck a friendship with a cab driver named Herb H. Franklin. He showed me great record shops and restaurants and told me his interesting life story. Herb was born in 1930 in Wiggins, Mississippi, and he moved down to the coast town of Biloxi with his parents at the age of ten. He later trained to be an auto mechanic, but as he hated getting grease under his fingernails, he opted to do what he did best -- hang out in bars. So in 1950 he took a bartending job at The Smithwick's -- a watering hole in Biloxi, just off Beach Boulevard. When his boss retired in 1955, Herb H. Franklin became the new owner of the bar. A month of renovation followed and the place reopened in Fall 1955 as Sin City, an unofficial name, as the sign outside the bar just said 'Liquor'. Herb said it was a long, rectangular room with a bar on the left, chairs and tables to the right, and a stage for live music at the end. The pool tables were relocated to a side room to make 'plenty of space for sinning,' according to Herb. There were rockin' bands on the weekends, sweaty dancers every night, and a jukebox that was wired to the house sound system so it could be heard over the general ruckus of the bar. And that jukebox did its work until the mid- 1960s, when Herb closed the place. Amazingly, however, every 45 that ever graced the Sin City jukebox remained in Herb's possession. Whenever the jukebox operator came to bring in the new tunes, Herb gave him some small change to keep the replaced ones. As a result, 15 years of serious record collecting took place, without Herb even giving it a second thought. And here are some of his tunes..." Features Jackie Harris, Larry Bright, Lonnie Brooks, The Sotos Brothers, Cliffie Stone's Orchestra w/ Bob Roubian, Otto Bash, Lelan Rogers and Friends, Jimmy McCracklin, Junior Wells, Eddie Burns, Elmer Parker and the Light Lighters, The Sounds, Bobby King, Connie Christmas, Eddie Bo, andEarl King.

"Volume 10 in this amazing series of slow grinding R&B/soul/exotica tunes as they are being played in a club in Melbourne/Australia. Around midnight on the last Saturday of every month, an assemblage of juiceheads, grifters, kittens, dandies, and derelicts gather in a dimly-lit, smoke-filled room and dance together real slow. These are some of the records we dance to... Thanks to all the flute players and backing singers of yore for flavouring these old records up just like we like them." --Richie1250 Compilation by Mohair Slim (Slow Grind Fever resident). Liner notes by SGF/mastermind, Richie1250. Features The Caribs, Ella Mae Morse with Les Baxter and His Chorus and Orchestra, The Bobbettes, Prince Conley, Tony Adams, Titus Turner, Eddie Lang, Frances Faye, Marie Knight, Richard Berry, Jimmy Rogers, Caterina Valente, June Alexander, and C.L. & The Pictures.
