Originally released in 1998 by Sub Rosa, now re-issued. Water & Architecture features previously unreleased material by Atom Heart, Seefeel, Directions, Bisk and AER. Nature, cities, water, concrete... water eating rocks, shores. Cities eating landscapes, life. Those two elements are interconnected, though constantly embattled. In between there are humans, needing both elements to survive, and a shelter to protect the body -- also mostly comprised of water. What is the connection, the dialogue, the potential of construction/destruction? What is the impact of architecture on water, what is its influence on modern cities? These artists attempt to answer these questions through carefully-constructed mediations. Directions: post-rock with electronic flavors, featuring Bundy K. Brown (Tortoise, Bastro, Gastr del Sol) and Doug Sharin (June of 44, Him, Rex). Recorded in the Tortoise Studio, Chicago. Seefeel: releases on Too Pure, Warp -- a unique act in the pop-electronica scene, somewhere in between folk-dub-intelligent electro. Their two tracks mix natural rhythms and minimal electronica. Atom Heart: his track starts as a German techno groove that ends in electro-limbo. Bisk: the Osaka post drum'n' bass wizard Naohiro Fujikawa, in a three-piece suit of strange sounds. AER (Alpha Echo Romeo), aka Jon Wozencroft, British designer, co-founder of the Touch label, composes these tracks with sounds collected worldwide. Pure architectural experimentation.
