DGTL Records -- the official label arm of Dutch festival giant DGTL -- marks its fifth anniversary in style with brand new album 5YRS of DGTL Records. The 14-track long player is released as a 4x12" vinyl set. 5YRS of DGTL Records is a perfect reflection of not just of the label itself but also its global event patron: headliners sitting equally alongside local talent and up-and-coming acts. Holding a great variety of forward-thinking house and techno, the label stays true to the same formula of the festival shows. Over the past five years, DGTL Records has grown into its own as a fully-fledged musical arm of the overall DGTL musical experience, introducing new sounds and acts to an international audience. For promising Dutch DJ/producers Coloray, Tjade, Nicky Elisabeth, and Lucky Done Gone, this will be their first release on DGTL Records, while the likes of Deniro and JP Enfant are already familiar names to label fans, having previously released EPs on the label. All are linked to promising rising international talent such as Jimi Jules, Kino Todo, and TERR and to DGTL "veterans" such as Adriatique, Dax J, Roman Flügel, and Frank Wiedemann & Trikk, who have been part of the DGTL family for years. Presented in a tri-fold cover, the LP will feature artwork by Eric Smilde, who has incorporated the distinctive elements of DGTL festival at the NDSM Docklands into a 3-D design. Known for its sustainable ambitions, DGTL continues along that path with this vinyl release, choosing to work with Deepgrooves, the world's greenest vinyl pressing plant thanks to their innovative and leading working method. Also features Mano Le Tough, TERR / Daniel Watts / Johann Heyss, and Kino Todo / Danelz.

For his DGTL release, Lauer offers the three-tracker Topo Chico doused with his signature sound. "Inkel Jet 880" might be described as a modern Italo track, but without the typical accented vocals -- thick and synth-y bass-line, sharp chords, a thumping beat, and two effective breaks. "Topo Chico" is a softer sounding track with a swinging bassline and high-pitched arrangement that builds up to stretched-out chords. "Topo Chico (Tribute Mix)" starts with an acidic bass line that drops into a bath of soft sounding bells and Lauer's signature stretched-out chords, while the arrangement gives the track a nostalgic vibe.

DGTL Records presents its different sounds on this various artists EP. Australian born, London based DJ and producer HAAi presents her track "Drumting," which has a danceable yet steady rhythm. The typical driving and sturdy sound of Mexico's Rebolledo and Paulor is evident on "The Fog And The Forest" which is almost like an LCD Soundsystem song without the lyrics. Axel Boman's "Surfliner" is one to listen to while overlooking the ocean after a warm day in the sun for sure. Amsterdam's techno wunderkind JP Enfant offers "Sputnik", a smooth but stirring ride into space loaded with hallucinogenic acid lines.

Strange Alliances holds two striking and contemporary tracks by Tel Aviv native Autarkic, who also has releases out on Turbo and Life and Death - plus remixes by Trikk and Rebolledo. It seems the Amsterdam based label has another winner on their hands; with Autarkic having an exceptional personality one would expect the same from his music. This is exactly what you get with Strange Alliances, as his originality shines through on both tracks, having used a lot of live instruments and his own vocals on both tracks, adding to its ingenuity. Art by Tim Straver and Boris Acket.

Atomnation label-head Applescal crafts out three tracks, all coming from one single studio jam. "Harmony One" is a dubby and bass heavy track with a subtle vocal sample. It steadily builds up towards a more energetic part with synth stabs, heavy snares, and atmospheric pads. "Harmony Two", previously part of an Atomnation sampler, it built around an arpeggio that playfully progresses and intensifies towards the break, where a raw synth is layered on top for the climax. With hard-hitting synth stabs and a rolling bassline "Harmony Three" sets itself apart as the heavier hitter of the three.

The fourth instalment on DGTL Records is an EP by Satori. "Fauna" is an organic, melody-driven arrangement with mesmerizing vocals and playful synths. This combination of layers gives the track an almost hypnotizing effect. "Yam" is an homage to an identical named festival in Mexico. Containing several layered atmospheric harmonies and a more present bassline, it's like a soundtrack for the festival. Satori provides a remix of French producer Sahalé's track "Magharibi". The remix keeps all the interesting elements of the original, but twists the bassline and the arrangement, while adding a few smaller soundscapes.

Man Power presents the three-track Apologue EP. "The Duelist", is an emotive house record, with a soundscape of piano melodies, synths, and syncopated percussion laid on top of an acid bassline. "El Mago Del Tiempo" features heavy hitting kicks, a sharp synth pattern, and a long build up that keeps evolving. The B side's "Put Your Hands On The Car (And Get Ready To Die)" brings back memories of a long gone past with nods to Balearic pop, EBM, and the Soundtrack work of Stewart Copeland, James Horner, and Jan Hammer.

"Untitled II" is a luminous house tune, with a soundscape on top that takes you on a journey, while "A Familiar Place" adds a little bit of darkness to the EP. This B-side is made up out of raw elements, a high-tempo kick and hi- hat create a sturdy flow that makes it hard to sit still.

Bulgarian hardware wizard KiNK kicks off the new imprint DGTL Records. KiNK has worked with DGTL for quite some time, including 2016's audiovisual installation "Transmission Tower", where the first track "Neutrino" was born. The melodic "Neutrino" kicks off with syncopating bassline. Its interconnecting layers organically jump over and under each other. KiNK on the B-sider "Dynamo": "I loaded my favorite element from 'Neutrino' in my computer and I tweaked the sound through various weird devices in my studio, till it sounded like a completely new track." Includes a few endless loops, exclusive to the 12". Cover art by Tim Buiting.
