From the true streets of Berlin comes one of the most essential electronic labels in the world, the inimitable BPitch Control. Founded in 1997 as a kind of music and art collective, the group does everything it can to broadcast its utopian vision to the masses through its parties, its visual themes and its commitment to artistic freedom. The result is an undeniably funky, break-driven technoid sound. The label's vision is filtered through its founder: Ellen Allien (as she says: "The Bitch of BPitch"). Allien has 5 full-length artist CDs, each more crucial than the next, while her mix CDs stay atop the stacks at clubs worldwide. Other artists at the BPitch core: Paul Kalkbrenner, Sylvie Marks & Hal9000, Smash TV, Modeselektor and Kiki. While all vary in tempo, style and attitude, they all commit to a similar electronic pallette -- clean<, broken, hook-filled and human. English vocals abound at BPitch as does the eye-candy artwork, the all-for-one attitude and its shimmering, glimmering style. If techno is art, then BPitch is Lichtenstein. It's pop music with a purpose.

BPitch Control announce the arrival of a new member to their team, as Berlin-based producer Amotik joins with the Daya EP. Amotik has been self-releasing his music for the past couple of years, dropping several EPs and his debut album. His minimalist, hypnotic take on techno is mesmerizing and it caught the ear of BPitch boss Ellen Allien some time ago. It didn't take long for a strong connection to be made between Amotik and the label, resulting in his first appearance with us. Daya contains four powerful cuts, with undulating low frequencies and nuanced composition designed to target mind, body, and spirit...

Ellen Allien emits a powerful Auraa on a new longplayer. Ellen Allien -- one of Berlin's most ardent techno ambassadors -- proudly unveils her latest full-length expedition into the realms of underground electronica. Brimming with creative energy, Ellen's new album Auraa follows her 2019 release Alientronic (BPX 001CD/LP), and is her third album in three years. Raw, emotive, and capable of transporting you from reality to an electro-fied fantasy, Aurra explores the notion of unseen energies controlling our planet. Beginning with the faintest hint of trance euphoria on the downtempo "Hello Planet Earth (Breath Mix)", the album soon moves into more bumpin' territory with "In Music I Trust" -- Ellen's signature use of vocals-as-melody entrancing the listener. "Walking In The Dark" takes things up a notch further with jabbing percussion and mesmerizing atmospherics, followed by "Confusion", a masterclass in heady hypnotic composition. "Human" is a deeply affecting beatless segue with its drone-esque soundscape. "True Romantics" taps into your emotional center utilizing hard beats and wistful synth lines. Lastly, "Traum" ("Dream" in English) takes you out of your body and into the infinite realm of vibration, as waves of beautifully composed pads and bubbling analog bass encourages you to transcend into the next astral plane.

BPitch Control welcomes Italian acid duo Boston 168 back to the fold as the label's 2020 campaign continues. The pair produced the 909 Therapy EP (BPC 339EP) and the back in 2019 after their successful Drops In Heaven EP (BPC 336EP) debut on BPitch, and they have them return with Vax Of Love, a three-track continuation of their experiments with industrial sounds and the timeless appeal of the beloved Roland TR-303 and its squelchy secretions. What we have here is the product of one of Italy's "Motor Cities", the ghosts of abandoned factories present in every beat, bassline and acid-tinged motif...

Exactly one year after his debut The Eyes for BPitch Berlin (BPC 342EP, 2019), Ego Wars is the follow-up EP of the exceptional Spanish artist Regal. With the three tracks (as well as a remix by the Frenchman Hadone) Gabriel Cassina shows again why he is one of the most prominent techno acts of our time. After releasing acid-infused rave tracks like "Overground", which last year became an outstanding signature track not only in Ellen Allien's DJ sets, he now combines radically fast beats with trance-influenced melodies on the Ego Wars EP. The tracks convey the same passion that you could hear on his former releases on his own label Involve, but they are also partially entering new stylistic territory.

Parisian Maxime Iko delivers with Pray For Us, the follow-up to his BPitch debut Concilium (BPC 335EP, 2018), and it's a record which sounds as rousing, playful and danceable as before. Iko's music has always been based on a strong groove, concise basslines, pitched-down vocals, and a sensitivity to the sexually charged energy of the gay parties that Iko has co-organized in the French capital. The resident DJ at Ellen Allien's We Are Not Alone rave parties and the Parisian club Dehours Brut goes even further with Pray For Us and presents four equally strong tracks spanning hyperactive techno and retrofuturistic electro vibes -- the theme of the EP is various visions of the apocalypse. "Dagyde" sets the tone with a jagged pace, its stray arpeggio theme and bone-dry claps the perfect start to visualize Iko's fondness for playfulness and an otherwise rarely found subtle humor. The title track comes with Maxime Iko's bell-colored signature sound cascades, a simple but effective bass line and pitched vocals about a religious apocalypse - a deep prime time techno cut for dark, sweaty rooms. "Telekinesis" then slows down the pace and catapults the listener into the outer orbit of Saturn with its dramatic Detroit theme. And with "Words" Iko closes this EP with a concentrated electro techno track that cuts deeper and deeper into the cortex.

Etaci is the banging debut EP of Irish techno DJ and producer Sunil Sharpe on Bpitch Control. The first release on Ellen Allien's BPitch label in 2020 comes from Sunil Sharpe, an outstanding Irish DJ and producer known since the early '00s for his raw, individualistic techno. After records on Works The Long Night, Murder, and his own label On The Hoof, Etaci is the Irishman's first solo release in three years. The title track sets the tone with its powerful beats and memorable gnawing sequences: funky, extremely physical and with its "Just A Dream" vocal, which lays like a veil over a squeaky Acid screw, psychedelic to the right degree. "Timber" picks up on this theme and marches with whispering acid lines, voices from the haunted house and funky Chicago house reminisces in the direction of a break, in which a bewitched melody, bird chirping, and choirs push the whole thing in the direction of ritual dance cult music. Sunil Sharpe then modulates sinister sequences on "Amun", where synth stabs occasionally shoot light into the darkness -- for the special moments on the dancefloor, which are ecstatic and self-contained at the same time. "Ukkin" finally sends Morse codes from the '90s Chicago basements, extremely funky and compelling contemporary.

Ellen Allien brings in a stellar line-up of artists to put their own spin on tracks from her latest album Alientronic (BPX 001CD/LP) for the first of several remix packages. Terence Fixmer and Introversion remix "Love Distortion": Terence rocks out with a gnarly guitar riff and extra bold percussion, while Introversion injects a murky feel to his rework, adding a trance-inspired element. Regal drops an "XTC Remix" of "Electronic Joy" with high-octane percussion and an enchanting retro feel. Lastly, there's a special edit of "Love Distortion" which offers a more restrained version of the killer original.

Regal debuts on BPitch Control with one of his rare releases outside his own Involve imprint. Eschewing the mighty four-to-flour thump that dominates most of his work, "The Eyes" sticks out from Regal's vast discography. "Overground" immediately launches into outer space and towards rave ecstasy on a 140+ bpm backbeat. "I Need You" opens the flip in typical hard-hitting Regal style but throws two elements in the ring that give this track an unusual spin. "Stimulus" brings about a welcome change in mood after this overwhelming experience: this is five-and-a-half cathartic minutes of acid techno at its purest.

Double LP version. From beyond our universe, the Alientronic invasion arrives on Planet Earth. One of the great ambassadors of Berlin techno, Ellen Allien presents her brand new album Alientronic. This is a body of work rooted in the city where it was recorded, Ellen's home and the place where she discovered techno sparking a love affair which will burn for infinity. Alientronic was recorded during the cold winter months in Berlin at the end of 2018, a time when creativity hits a peak in the city. Sub-zero temperatures and dark nights keep the artists locked away indoors, finding time and space to journey inwards and tap into the deepest recesses of their creative energy. Alientronic represents an artist who is brimming with ideas, years of experience breathe life into Ellen's work -- it's refined, yet liberated, informed by the past but very much looking to the future. Ellen disseminates classic techno and acid tropes through her visionary lens, vocals are looped and warped, tough beats slam down as stirring pads coax you into an emotive realm and you're privy to a spellbinding other world full of mysterious exotic allure. Is it a hallucination or are the electro-terrestrials already here among us?

The shortest connection between the past and the future leads through the music of Boston 168, the duo of Sergio Pace and Vincenzo Ferramosca. "Cosmic Tribe" translates its idea of universal togetherness into a nerve-wrecking groove punctuated by complex percussion work and a subtly building acid line, while "Drops In Heaven" uses a booming kick drum as base for an emotionally driven exploration of sonic textures. The psychedelic "Straight To Light" nods to nineties pioneers like Emmanuel Top, showcasing Ferramosca and Pace's talent for creating musical depth by ingeniously bringing together a few select elements to greater effect.

Paris club kid Maxime Iko joins BPitch Control with this four-track trip into the depths of his mind. Infused with acid licks and electro motifs, this is a scintillating debut from an artist who represents diversity and inclusiveness. Concilium EP starts with the frenetic "Achartade", a track which pulsates with eerie vibes. Following are two killer cuts: "Répulsion", where the main riff has a jaunty, arpeggiated rhythm and "Timeline's Wrong", a heads-down acid roller with vocal stabs and an absorbing atmosphere. The EP closes with the multi-tempo closer "Concilium", a demonstration of Maxime's penchant for playfulness and experimentation.

After two impressive remix EPs taken from Ellen Allien's seventh studio album, Nost (BPC 330CD/LP, 2017), BPitch Control unveil round three with another heavyweight lineup: Alan Oldham, Eomac, Amotik, and XDB. Alan Oldham lets loose on "Jack My Ass", pumping it full of energy, jackin' beats, and a hypnotic, minimalist riff. Eomac's dour version of "Mind Journey" is slow and purposeful, moving forward with frightening malice. Amotik follows with his own twist on "Mind Journey", a little more frenetic and energized than Eomac's rework. "Call Me" is put through XDB's filter, with softened pads and a rolling groove.

Earlier in 2017, Ellen Allien dropped her seventh solo album, Nost (BPC 330CD/LP). The album provided a link between the past and the future, blending influences from the very early days of Berlin techno with contemporary sounds and, of course, a vision of the future. Now BPitch Control present the first batch of specially commissioned remixes, taking Ellen's original works in a new direction with four artists delivering their own interpretations of music featured on the album. Emmanuel Top, ROD, K-Hand, and Skudge are the first ensemble of techno titans to administer the remix treatment to tracks from Nost.

Triple 12" version. Ellen Allien's seventh solo album Nost, which comes from nostalgia, is the quintessential sound of Berlin. It has a sensibility which can only be found in the depths of the city's darkest underground clubs. The album begins with an expert lesson in hypnosis with "Mind Journey"; a warped vocal lures you into its creepy world, while a persistent beat, narcotic bassline, and spine-tingling eerie top-end builds an intense, immersive vibe. "Innocence" channels the loose atmosphere of a Berlin dancefloor, with its insistent energy conjuring up images of a clandestine warehouse soiree. "Jack My Ass" is a whirring, utterly captivating dancefloor treat with tension building rises in energy, built to create moments of pure exhilaration; techno from the 23rd Century, built by a modern-day master. "Call Me" sees Ellen inject sexy vibes but keeps it strictly jackin'; Berlin's unmistakable vibe is blended with the classic sound of Chicago. "Electric Eye" follows with its emotive riff, again transmitting a lucid, hypnotic rhythm. Ellen demonstrates her expertise in warping vocals, and combines it with deadly techno elements. "mma" is a snarling beast of a track with dramatic strings creating a hair-raising atmosphere and a mesmerizing riff. "Physical" is a message from future inhabitants of our universe -- the beats are crisp and powerful, while a symphony of analog effects cascade through the background. All the while a vocal clip appears once in a while, saying "Physical" -- adding a strange human element to proceedings. The penultimate track is "Stormy Memories", which opens with an extended, emotive intro, slowly building into a brooding acid-tinged workout with that classic 303 sound bubbling away in the low-end. Closing out this masterful selection is "Erdmond", a delicate, hazy soundscape that feels like the "morning after the night before", the sun blazing into your room through a gap in the curtain, a variety of electronic critters chirping and calling to one another and your head slowly shedding the layers of fuzz to reveal memories of last night. Like in all of her albums, Ellen uses her vocals like an instrument through alienation in many different ways. Nost is a homage to the feeling of nostalgia, that Ellen knows just too good, and that happens quite often to her, when she plays her DJ sets: This incredible, warm feeling, when she drops one of the old classic records, that she loves, and the people start smiling.
