A lot has happened since the disco ball started spinning in Munich discotheques in the 1970s for the first time. Thirty years later, its motor has gained new drive and the ball is spinning faster than ever. Partly responsible for this renaissance is the Munich label Permanent Vacation.
Founded by Tom Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich during Germany's tropical summer of 2006, Permanent Vacation has not only survived in the obscure jungle of modern dance music, but has established itself as a flagship of the disco movement and its variations, such as Balearic, cosmic, Krautrock or proto-house, all of which have become extremely popular on all continents. Permanent Vacation was able to establish themselves within 4 years as one of the most cutting edge, universal dance labels In the world, releasing music from artists like Tensnake, Aeroplane, Holy Ghost!, Azari & III, Kathy Diamond, Todd Terje, Antena, Woolfy vs. Projections, Hercules and Love Affair, DMX Krew and many others.

New Jackson marks his long-awaited follow-up to 2017's From Night To Night with its successor Oops!...Pop for long-time collaborators Permanent Vacation. A concise triumph in techno pop, its nine tracks elevate his signature electronic sounds into anthemic new heights. David Kitt is a prolific sonic polymath who's enjoyed a colorful career making whatever he likes. While releasing music under a vast array of aliases and collaborations for close to two and a half decades, New Jackson has remained his irregular home since 2011 for when "at one with the machines." It offers a kaleidoscopic window into his love of dance music, and on his debut album under the alias From Night To Night he unfurled his singular vision; a dilated suite of nocturnal soul coaxed from his beloved electronic equipment with songwriter's nous, sonically etched as blunted whispers coalesced from the dusky billows of Dublin bay. In the time since his New Jackson debut, he's slowly distilled his studio methodology to help mine the true core of his musical self. Within this experimentation, he has stumbled upon the bounty that is OOPS!... POP, his most direct and euphoric body of work to date. Recorded across the span of five years and three different countries, Kitt has managed to transform his beloved alias into a leaner beast, tightening the screws around arrangements and songwriting to inspire an album sonically effortless in demeanor and spontaneously playful in structure and form. Aided by a stacked cast of collaborators including Rita Lynn, Donnacha Costello, Riche "Jape" Egan, Yenkee, Kean Kavanagh, Margie Jean Lewis, Meg Cronin, and Fehdah, it bears the hallmarks of the studio albums of yesteryear in its dynamism and gratification while drawing on his rich bouquet of influences across a century of recorded music. New Jackson's oeuvre, indeed David Kitt's musical world, is vast; OOPS!... POP then might just be his opus across it all, a towering achievement of soaring catharsis in melody and song that soundtracks the most direct transmissions from his heart to yours.

A famous anthem once begged: "Don't Make Me Wait." Sometimes, though, it's good to make 'em wait -- even just a little bit. Case in point: The production duo of Fabrizio Mammarella and Phillip Lauer, known to clubbers, DJs, and music heads as Black Spuma. Three years after their last EP -- and nearly a decade into their production existence -- the duo have finally given us a full-length manifesto. Sure, there have been a smattering of remixes and EPs over the years on labels like Futureboogie, International Feel, and Live At Robert Johnson. But on their new LP No No No, the Spumas at last get to stretch out and give us their full-meal-deal. The pair birthed the tracks at Lauer's famed Pyramide III studio, with ten tunes finalized and selected remotely, thanks to the wonders of high-speed Internet. While the Spumas are well-known (both together and as solo acts) for their melodic, '80s-tinged club workouts, the album format has allowed the guys to push their sound into parts unknown. The album distils all the things you love about the duo: the melody, the playfulness and the musicianship of two veterans in full command of their powers. Take the tune "Obereggen," which expands a punchy, staccato bassline into that sweet spot where trance and Italo can play next to each other. Or the cut "Fracture," which is built on a Detroit-like chassis but makes room for gorgeous pads, subby bass and a nimble breakbeat. For the established fans, there'll be plenty to latch onto, including the title cut (and first single), which sounds like something Robocop may have produced if he'd taught a violence diversion program. Meanwhile, cuts like "Dillingen" are reminiscent of one of those lost Eurythmics B-sides that show up in the dark corners of MixesDB. The album was mixed and mastered by Lopazz, and boasts a colorful cover from Berlin-based artist, Ilja Karilampi. So, 17 years after initially meeting, we finally have a full album from these Spuma Men. And in the end, it was worth the wait.

It's album time for Sam Goku aka Robin Wang: Things We See When We Look Closer is the second album from the Chinese-German artist, releasing nearly two years after his debut album East Dimensional Riddims (ATMV 087LP, 2021), that combined traditional Asian instruments and field recordings with his own modern take on dance music that focuses on fluid rhythms, beautiful melodies and ambient haze. Based in Munich, things came together naturally with Permanent Vacation as a label for the DJ and producer. Not only sharing the same home turf, but also a certain eclectic approach on music. After two EPs on the label, that found their way into DJ sets from the likes of Ben Ufo & Four Tet, DJ Voices, Call Super, and many more, Robin is drawing ever wider circles with his new album. On eleven tracks he is refining his unique approach in his productions, probably described best as a deeply nature-rooted and aethereal sound from twinkling ambience over bright, bouncy kickdrums to shuffling breaks. Robin is hunting for the bigger picture by taking a closer look. Finding new life in the different microcosms and gaining new perspectives on things by switching the angle and developing a meditative and psychedelic swirl.

Fresh from delivering standout performances at Berlin's renowned Panorama Bar and Amsterdam's DGTL, Theo Kottis presents his first solo release on Permanent Vacation, the sparkling On Your Mind EP. The creation of the six tracks on On Your Mind EP, provided moments of escapism for Theo Kottis, during the depths of lockdown 2020. His nods to synth pop and Italo fun, inspired by bands of the new wave era, are intended to bestow upon the listener those same blissed out moments. There's more to these tracks than meets the ear, particularly stand out "On Your Mind", the product of relentless pursuit. For Theo, the collaboration with Permanent Vacation was long awaited and is a memorable mark within his thriving career. Theo Kottis said: "Thrilled to finally share these tracks, I worked on them two years ago and was fortunate enough to find them a home at Permanent Vacation, which has long been one of the labels I've admired most. As these tracks were a solo lockdown project, I've loved collaborating with PV on the release -- particularly the creation of the vinyl. Next up -- I can't wait to play them out IRL in parties this summer."

Longhair: "The Covid Pandemic hit Germany in March 2020 and by the 15th of March all of the public life was shut down. It was the same day where my son Rio was born. For me, this early stage of the pandemic had something very intimate and private, since I was forced to stay at home with my young family for weeks. In May 2020, I started to leave the house, for other occasions then just going to the shop or taking a walk and that was the time I started working on Hotel Solaris. It was an intense creative rush: in eight weeks the album was written, performed, and produced in one flow. I had two days every week, where I could go to the studio for four hours and that time the album was done. It had a corpus in a sense that I knew I wanted a faster or a slower track at points, but the whole hotel idea came when I saw photos of the old Hotel Arkada on the Croatian island Hvar, that my extremely talented friend Marcella Zanki shot on her holidays. They show a well preserved socialist-brutalist hotel architecture in the middle of the beautiful Adriatic and for me it was like looking at pictures from a timeless place, without knowing where and when it exactly was, totally surreal. I liked that idea of a hotel that stands as an escape symbol from the real world, which was something everyone needed when the pandemic was building stronger and stronger. I decided to call it Hotel Solaris, inspired by the novel from Stanislav Lem, where Solaris is a planet covered by an ocean which triggers our subconscious mind to become reality. It all fit at the end and Hotel Solaris was done."

Lauer makes it all look so easy. Over his two decades in the game, Philipp Lauer's work always manages to mix the best of steely German engineering with deep emotion; industrial-strength beats with the warmth of an old sweater. On Answers 2 Trouble, the Frankfurt-based musician once again delivers the goods: nine tracks stuffed with elite beat making and delicious, '80s-influenced songcraft, drawn together by clever arrangements and expert pacing. After a handful of high-profile collabs over the past few years with the Sex Tags crew, Skatebård, Fabrizio Mammarella, and fellow Tuff City Kid Gerd Janson, the prolific producer sounds energized to be back behind the wheel for a solo spin -- his first LP since 2018's Power (RB 012LP). All the Lauer hallmarks are here: Flashes of modern house and techno, a few drops of acid, layers of gorgeous synths and those wistful melodies that recall an era when New Order played live on Baywatch. While the longtime Robert Johnson Club affiliate hasn't shied away from his John Hughes influences in the past, this time around, Mr. Philipp pushes his sound further into pure pop than ever before. Especially on cuts like "Make It Stay" and "Valentino III," Lauer swaps moody dance floor workouts for breezy, seaside drives. On the former, new collaborator Dena plays Cosey to Lauer's Chris, and the pair craft the kind of song that would sound perfect on a teenage spin in mom's convertible VW Cabriolet. Not that he's gone all pop, though. The Italo-tinged "Altalenanti" lands squarely in Lauer's patented toughness + grooviness equation, while album highlight "Ghost" (alongside frequent vocalist Jasnau) is all shouty vocal hooks, clenched fists and stomping bass lines. Lauer says the new record was completed in his brand-new, purpose-built studio. While it's easy to imagine wiring together all his vintage gear must've been a major chore, thankfully, the results sound effortless. Includes digital download.

Zombies are undead by nature and these ones seem to be not only not dead, but very much alive and active: Zombies In Miami is a project created by Canibal & Jenouise and despite the name they are not crawling around Miami, but shining out their light from Mexico. The couple became one of the most prominent members of Mexico's vital electronic scene over the last decade. You can call their sound a rhythmic and synth-driven house and techno hybrid, with a disco and Balearic twist, which is held together by the oh so sweet Italo drama. As the living dead always seemed to be a big inspiration for Italian filmmakers, the love seems mutual and the movie scores rubbed off on the other end as well. After highly acclaimed EPs and tracks for such diverse labels as Gerd Janson's Running Back, Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, Prins Thomas's Internasjonal as well as Hippie Dance or Bordello A Parigi, now it's time for the great couple's first album: 2712 on Permanent Vacation. The vast experience of Zombies In Miami as a long-lasting music production team, as well as performing live acts around the world (which brought them to the some of the best clubs and festivals on this planet) culminates in eight tracks that perfect their futuristic retro sound. An ideal match for Permanent Vacation! You probably won't find a better combination of Italo arpeggio lines, house pianos, disco drums as well as sun kissed and mythical soundscapes for your summer soundtrack. Includes download voucher.

The man machine Lauer is back on Permanent Vacation with full power. After 2018's album for Running Back (RB 012LP) and his summer anthem "Inkel Jet 880" for the DGTL label (DGTL 009EP), here is Phillip's new EP Know You. And Lauer does what Lauer does best: Perfecting his proto disco trance sound into four emotional party tracks for romancers and B-Boys alike. On this EP, you even get the chance to sing along. "You Know" features his good old buddy and frequent collaborator Jasnau on vocals. To say it with his words: Don't hesitate!

Massimiliano Pagliara is a true powerhouse. With his last album Feel Live (PLAYRJC 053LP, 2018), as well as an EP on Ostgut Ton (where he also holds a residency at the legendary Panormamabar) and a string of strong remixes, the trained dancer from Italy now presents his first EP for Permanent Vacation: Nothing Stays In One Place For Long. The four tracks on the EP show the perfect symbiosis between man and machine (in this case a fleet of analog synths and drum machines) and offer the full spectrum of Pagliara's production skills, from dubby, chord-driven techno, to playful acid disco and blissful Balearic house. Despite this wide range, he always keeps his trademark sound that one can also find in his numerous DJ sets around the globe, merging a variety of people and styles for a happy dance under one roof.

Based in Munich, Germany, the producer, part-time DJ, and Permanent Vacation label co-head Tom Bioly, aka TB, delivers new romantics, inspired by influences like The Cure's "The Holy Hour", Boards of Canada's late '90s electronica, Miami Vice tropic percussion, and Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks. Acid drops, string distortions, lush melody bits, hushed robo vox, and washed space guitars are being layered and sprinkled over machine beats and disco drums. TB's first release "Invitation To Love" made it on John Talabot's vinyl-only Hiverned 10" imprint (2012) and was voted amongst the best 10" releases by UK Fact Magazine. The title track on follow-up EP City Girl on Permanent Vacation (2015), was licensed to the independent film All These Sleepless Nights by director Michal Marczak. In 2017, TB followed with Heartbreak Hotel (PERMVAC 166-1EP), a double twelve-inch release with eight tracks of melancholic dance noir set in smoke-filled darkness. In 2018, he followed with the Night Heat single, of which a RMXD EP with contributions by Gerd Janson, Sascha Funke, DJ Hotel, and Bostro Pesopeo. Includes printed inner sleeve and download code.

Ever since his first exposure to euro-dance pop as a twelve year-old kid, Berlin native Sascha Funke followed the siren call of electronic music. By now he has carved out a spot at the forefront of leading-edge dance music through delivering the goods. From his early Bpitch and Kompakt years (Tracks like "Bravo" or "Mango" became some sort of all-time classics), The Saschienne project with his partner in crime Julienne Dessagne (aka Fantastic Twins), his synth wave and post-punk-inspired album Lotus Land (EF 017CD/LP, 2017), twisted piano house on Turbo, Krautrock spheres on Multi Culti to hypnotizing psychedelic on Hippie Dance. Genex 1 is his first full on EP for Permanent Vacation; here, Sascha proves once more that he definitely needs his own record shop section: three genre-bending tracks, full of quirky yet poppy melodies veering among cosmic trance, space techno and leftfield Italo to light up the Bengalos on any dance floor.

Woolfy Vs. Projections (aka Simon James and Dan Hastie) strike back with Destinations on Permanent Vacation. Destinations is their fourth studio album, which makes WVP the longest running artists on the label from their debut release back in 2007. Once again, Woolfy Vs. Projections make California (one of the few places where endless summer isn't just a hollow phrase) an outpost of the Balearic Islands and proof that they're truly one of the greats of the genre. Over the past decade, Simon and Dan created a prolific catalog of modern day classics with tracks like "Absynth" (described by Resident Advisor as "Air covering Steely Dan"), "Neeve", "Set Me Loose", or "Set It Up". Destinations definitely follows suits. Ten tracks that combine the classic West Coast sound, a twist of dark disco, with a deep Balearic twilight vibe. Includes download voucher.
